I had a lot of Nano back in the day and I kept it as much as I can for a very long period of time, however after a while I realized it is not going anywhere at all and sold at around 1.2 when it peaked thinking that would be the highest we will see ever and just forgot about it. Very recently I remembered my money from Nano was still on that exchange and checked and saw that Nano was still low, so I bought some once again and now I am hoping it will go up a bit more once again.

Honestly I do not hold too many coins that are different from each other, I have bitcoin and eth and thats about it, all others are not worhty in my opinion, I do buy them, I do keep them, I still have some others but I wouldn't suggest them, the biggest one that deserves all the holding is bitcoin and eth and nothing more.

I used to hold some Nano (formerly known as RaiBlocks) back in the day where the project had a faucet which gave you free coins after filling out captchas. It was a quite time-consuming task for such a small amount of money. But it was loads of fun. If I had known Nano would've reached double-digits in price, I would've kept my coins to this date. It's one of those old coins that are still worth buying and holding nowadays. With instant transactions and no fees, sometimes I wonder why Nano is below other coins on the market in terms of mainstream adoption and popularity. Sadly, this happens with other old coins as people abandon them for the next big thing in crypto. Given that most crypto exchanges tend to de-list old coins over time, it's not worth putting all your money into them as a long-term investment (with the exception of Bitcoin and Ethereum).

Nonetheless, I'm still holding old coins as some of them provide unique features not found elsewhere. For instance, Spreadcoin's (SPR) innovative PoW consensus algorithm prevents the formation of mining pools (which contributes towards the decentralization of the Blockchain). Magi is another good-old coin with a unique feature which prevents big miners from dominating the entire network. Regardless if these coins remain actively traded or not on the market, they're certainly useful for "peer-to-peer" payments (as long as their Blockchain networks continue to be alive for the foreseeable future). You may end up holding lots of new coins on top of old ones, just to reduce risks of loss as much as possible. I'd wish that people focus on crypto's utility rather than filling their pockets with money. Things would've been much more different than what they are right now. Just my opinion Smiley

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

The old coins that I hold until now are only bitcoins, other than that they no longer exist except for daily trading only, as for you why should you revive old altcoins that have long been dead? Shouldn't it be better if making a new one is more efficient than living a dead altcoin that has had errors in the past.
I think Op could have ask what old altcoins you are holding since we are in altcoins discussion. It's very obvious that most of us here are trusting bitcoin more than the altcoins, so it would be interesting to know if what everyone are really holding(altcoins).

In a wiser way, it should be to leave old coins that are dead, then make new steps in coins that are still very popular today, because it is very clear that popular coins will always be alive and everyone can make a profit. through their daily trades, rather than waiting for the dead coins to come back to life and that would be impossible.

For me I still do have lots of Picoin in my wallet. Even though there is no value on this coin anymore I was for a while got hyped with it and the community until it became non active and no one is participating anymore. But that is my favorite old coin. As for others the one that is still active and staking is Tokyocoin. I am still holding some of it and still staking it on my old laptop. Most of the ones I ignore mostly are tokens from old bounties. But these two has a special place in me.

Even though most of the coins in your wallet have no value anymore, it will be a very memorable personal collection, Moreover, in your coin list there are favorite coins that were featured at that time. Now just let the coin be a decoration in your wallet, while waiting for the miracle that makes the dead coins come back to life, you should focus on coins that can benefit you.

I did not hold old coins until now because many ancient coins did not have a good prospect in the long term moreover, I am not the type of person to hold my coins preferring to exchange coins for fiat money.

I have held and still hold bitcoin and Ethereum. On the growth of Ethereum this summer, I earned 13,000. All because I bought it for $ 100 and sold it for $ 450.

A lot of cryptocurrencies have been created throughout time.

I personally have not held onto any old or even dead blockchains.

But I am working on a new project focused on old blockchains and with the attempt of reviving them.

I wanna ask what everyone here is holding onto.

I am mainly interested in coins from 2014 and older, but anything you deem "old" is welcome! Smiley

I might hit you up if I find your coin interesting Cheesy

One of my new picks is Leacoin because of its age and simple configuration.

bitcoin, litecoin. dogecoin and for sure ethereum my friend
i hold al the coins above from 2016, and maybe i will sell it when the price hit my target

Many that I don't even want remember are still in my wallet. ICTA, MST, AVINOC, AIC, TYP, BBK, MFT, OPEC, MVL and many more. Those projects are just waste of funds and time. The dumpers were the only people that made a token sum of those projects.

you have a very long investment. if I were you I would not be able to do it. there was a strong temptation in 2017 that must have seduced me to immediately sell the asset I was holding.

I have never held an asset for a very long time. the longest for an asset that I buy and hold within 6 months and then I will sell it when the market improves. like bitcoin, I sold it when there was a pump early last year even though it only happened for a short time and then went down again. but I get profit because the correction is deep enough and I can buy it again until the current price.
to date, only BTC and ETH are old assets that I have always trusted in the long term.

That's a big advantage you get, indeed bitcoin and Ethereum have great potential and are the most profitable investments.

I have had different experiences investing and trading these coins. There were also times with good incomes and losses came. However, I have found that only two of these coins have the potential to grow. Other coins fall in value after growth and rarely return.

The oldest coin I hold now is just ETH. The crypto market is constantly changing and old projects that are no longer competitive will soon be out of the game. So I always have to update my knowledge and invest in new projects that I think are potential.

Some coins never get old especially due to the quality, adoption, usage and reputation they have already reached. So in my longterm list i do have few of such longterm gems and i am sure they will never get old, coins like btc, eth, trx, ada, neo, waves are my ultimate choice and do remain in my portfolio for most part of the time.

Altcoins discussion deserves only altcoins news, Bitcoin has different parts. Actually I now have only 6 ERC-20 tokens but all are valueless except one. I had some Jur tokens that I converted to Vechain. Now I'm just trading from Vechain to Bitcoin pair. Now I'm looking for a good old coin to hold for a long time.

DOGE's chart looks cyclic, so it's better not to accumulate this coin all the time, but to sell it when it costs expensive!  Grin
In other cases, it's no use...

From the old coins, I would pay attention to XEM, they have a Symbol platform scheduled to be launched this year with a hardfork and XYM coins distributed to all XEM holders...

It is natural if there are different opinions because they might not want to mess around with things like that, but there are still many who are doing it because it is certainly valuable, but what you do is also good because the main goal is to exchange coins for fiat so that they are easy to spend. So it's okay and I see the same final treatment.

Well, you can't go wrong holding old coins for the long term. Even if they get de-listed by crypto exchanges over time, they can still be used if there's a node and miner supporting the network. What matters is usability above anything else. And if old coins' blockchain networks are still alive, you can continue using them as peer-to-peer financial instruments. The only downside is that you won't be able to sell them for cash (Fiat) at a later time due to the lack of exchange support. I also have many old coins which turned out to become worthless over time. They're just sitting in my wallet "collecting dust".

Now that you've mentioned staking, it came to my mind a cryptocurrency called Tekcoin. It had very attractive stake rates, but turned out to become de-listed from crypto exchanges due to lack of development. The core Blockchain network is still functional, though. I still stake Tekcoin alongside Triangles just in case they're revived in the future. With the open source nature of crypto/Blockchain tech, anyone can continue building upon previously-abandoned projects to make them great again. Given that the risk of holding old coins is too high, you're better off holding new coins that are on the spotlight right now. The only old coins worth holding for a long time are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Monero. The rest will simply go down the drain. By diversifying your investment between old and new coins, you'll be able to reduce risks as much as possible. I try to stick with good-old Bitcoin and Ethereum, for a very good reason. They're active in development, and most of all, they provide real use cases for the mainstream world. If you do the same, you'll be able to achieve peace of mind in your financial life. Just my thoughts Grin

I don't know if Ethereum can be called an old coin, but I still trust it. Ethereum during its existence on the cryptocurrency market has shown that it can be solid even in the face of high volatility of the cryptocurrency market. Therefore, until now, this is the coin that I trust.

you will notice that almost all old coins lose their value and are replaced by new (promising) shitcoins!
So I see no point in holding coins for a long time., The only project that I have more than two years is Komodo! True, sometimes I trade it on the exchange and try to maximize the number of coins.
