Some words to aware newbies: Basically this type of fake airdrop targets the newbies. Because they are always trying to find an easy way to earn money. For that, they are following some social media groups and channels. And thus they find such fake airdrop links. They can not understand this is fake because of the scammers added all official social, wallet, links in the fake site. And its force little bit the newbies to trust as a real site.

How you will stay away from this fake:
1. Make sure you always check the official announcement from official sources. I will suggest you to avoid some greedy offers in social media mainly in Facebook groups and channels. plz, see below.

Just make sure that you are avoiding this type of greedy offers

2. Avoid joining any airdrop which is asking for a private key plus even any airdrop which is asking for doing kyc .

Conclusion: This was my newbie's awareness post about fake airdrops. I hope newbie will follow this information and guideline for avoiding this type of fake things. Good luck.

Not only about the fake airdrop from a fake website, it is also important to avoid airdrops with KYC requirements as much as possible. I understood that there are so many people around the globe, with them $5 or $10 means a lot of things, especially who are living in the third world. I respect them, honestly but if they have enough desire and motivation to learn about bitcoin and cryptocurrency, then practice on the forum (via posts), they will be able to get more income (regularly) than $5 or $10 at once and accept risks of losing their identity documents to third parties, no matter which companies they are.

Google can sell your data, Coinbase can, Blockchain.com can, they can do any shady things behind the scene and we don't know. When we know, it will be too late.

Not only for beginners, even some old members may fall victim to this type of scam because of greed.
Airdrop does not necessarily mean that you will make a lot of money because you will be paid with useless tokens, which may return to zero in the future.
Conducting identity verification, sending personal data, the private key and so on are all eighths of this "free" method for earning worthless shticoins, so it is best to avoid them at all.

That is, if we assume that these Airdrops are legal and not just scam projects.

Yea, You are right. Greeds play a vital role in this type of airdrop.

Not only about the fake airdrop from a fake website, it is also important to avoid airdrops with KYC requirements as much as possible.

Hmm, Nowadays KYC is the biggest problem in crypto world. And joining an airdrop with kyc is nothing but worse. we all should aware of it.

You should not have gone ahead to unfriend them. You call them your friends, they might not be aware that such is fake. So, it is your duty, as someone who seems to be more knowledgeable to sensitize them or to confirm if it was a deliberate act. If this is not done, some other people might fall victim of the scam and that is how it will continue to spread. The Op came here, not only to sensitize the newbies, but also other members of the forum that are involved in participating in airdrop campaigns. The worst part of it is that. it is asking for KYC.

Even the companies are legit, and seriously do and send airdropped tokens to hunters, KYCs are risky. On the other side, companies have to use KYCs to fight against cheaters. Nevertheless, what I worried about is personal documents can be stolen, leaked or sold out later. For whatever reasons of KYC document leaks, it will be bad, not good.

So everyone who join airdops, bounties that require KYCs need to aware of those risks.

Well to those who will pass a kyc document should add a watermark to the image to avoid identity thief which is more likely will happen to non legit company or projects. Best solution is to stay away from airdrops at all cost and won't get scammed by the fake airdrops popping out of nowhere.
