Houseparty App potential hack may empty your wallets

I’m sure one of your friend or relative invited you to this cool app called Houseparty as they wish to kill this boredom by being connected, and everything seemed good so far but suddenly the party is all but over. As of writing this post many people have claimed their wallets, social media accounts were hacked due to this app, but the app developers have denied these accusations. I won’t advise you’ll what to do as many people are yet using this app, but I didn’t take any chance and I have deleted it as my bitcoin wallet is in my phone, and in case you yet wish to use this app then please change all your passwords that are stored in your phone.

Might be the reason behind of the hacking is "credentials stuffing attack". A compromised used same login credentials, which were can be found in database and succeed in other popular apps as well.

I don't think deleting the app would let you out of the hacking. Mind to change your password, since you have been installed the app and gave permission to your phone?

To those who don't reuse a password to anywhere is somehow safe though. They are offering a reward to someone who can prove it.

This is the first time I've heard of this application, and I personally don't see why the article would say that it "is one of the must-have apps for people self-isolating or in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic"? Should this mean that without this application we cannot survive or that our lives will be easier with it?

For all those who use smartphones for serious things like crypto, banking or storing some sensitive data my advice is to be very careful about every application, so even if it is downloaded from Google Play and has xxxxx downloads, it does not mean that it is safe. There may be an exploit that the owners are still not aware of, but it is also possible that some other application is to blame for everything.

That's why I bought a tablet long ago to use only for stuff like online banking (if they don't have a web version) and domotic in my apartment.
The tablet never downloads anything else and I never use the browser or very rarely.
At least the risk is reduced.

Honestly, I also have never heard of it and this is the first. The main goal maybe because to eliminate boredom while staying at home, they want to stay connected to each other in the community and maybe the application can help.

But I dont like these things and besides being busy with real work, this forum is enough to help me stay connected to the bitcoin community and keep me entertained.

Agree with you and this is what we have to think about, stay cautious and dont easily believe.
