Thanks for all the explaining and breaking it down that was quite helpful.

Another random question after the halving it will be about 6 more days till the difficulty change. With the value dropping in half I think a lot of people will have to shut down their mining due to power prices and the profits dropping. Does anyone think the same, and that the difficulty will take a plunge for a while?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for setting up a solo mining pool, it's a great idea and I appreciate the opportunity to mine on it. I've pointed my ASIC at the pool and have been submitting heaps of shares for the last two hours, but I can't see a stats page for my BTC address yet. Is this broken or does it take a lot longer to register my shares? I basically want to see that it's still running and that hashes are received by the 'pool'. I don't have remote access to the ASIC so can't check it while I'm away from home.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Ball

What ASIC do you have?

What's your hashrate?

How do you know your submitting heaps of shares?

What's your Bitcoin address?

Hi os2sam

It's an antminers S9 SE 17T

Miner is reporting a hash rate average of about 16.8T at the moment

Antminers software is showing heaps of accepted shares, a few rejected and difficulty at around 13.9k (ideally up higher). I'm new to this solo mining thing, usually mine to pools and have all the info I need coming back from them.

Bitcoin address is 13SmFktu83HwAvgWMeuhuVv6PdJRqADXNv

Thanks for the quick reply too.

Well your way out of my league with an S9.

I would ask what pool URL and Port are you mining to?

Haha, that's ok. I'm tinkering at this stage so I'm not too bothered, but it'd be nice to see it communicating properly.

I'm just using the URL and port off the website: solo.ckpool.org:3333

Make sure you entered your Bitcoin address correctly and that it is the same address as your looking for stats for.  S9's have been known to be hacked and pointed elsewhere.

My setup is currently sidehack's R606's.  So I see the full CGMiner stats on my Pi 4.  So I'm accustomed to seeing more detailed info in real time.  I don't know what type of info an S9 shows you.

Yeah, I checked those. Can't work out where it's going wrong.

If you google the antminers status page, you'll get a pretty good idea of what it shows in real time. I haven't set it up to access it remotely yet hence my question about the pool side stats. Allows the remote monitoring of sorts..

Thanks again for the quick replies.

Knowing issues others have had I would not setup remote access from the S9 directly to the internet.  I would setup a VPN into my local network and then access it on the LAN.  Much safer.

I had to give up on the solo pool. Not being able to find my miner meant I couldn't be confident the work I was doing was actually productive.

Reverted back to pool mining. Will tinker again with the solo pool once I have some time.

If anyone has any suggestions as to why I couldn't find my username to verify successful connection, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Best of luck to those hunting a block!

There's no hashrate recorded to his username there either as far as I can see.

Hi JimJam,

I'm just using the URL and port off the website: solo.ckpool.org:3333

Punched my BTC address in to the little search box and got a 404 Not Found result. copied and pasted it straight from the miners status page.

Antminer S9 SE is the miner I'm using. It was reporting huge numbers of shares accepted so I'm guessing I had a good conneciton, but I was hoping to see it on the solo.ckpool site for confirmation.

Thanks for checking in there -ck. Any ideas why that might be the case?

Hopefully you don't have the default API permissions that bitmain fucked up their miners with that leads to them being hijacked and you were actually mining elsewhere?

That's entirely possible. I'll have to look in to checking those permissions.

It had only been online for 48 hours (in total - to any pool) so someone must have been pretty quick off the mark to hack it. When pointed to Nicehash, it reports just fine and is earning what I'd expect it to. This is where it's pointed now to verify what I configured was accurate. I should add, it's Dec 19 batch but running Nov 2018 firmware at the moment.

I'll try to have another go tonight and see if I can't get it working on the solo.ckpool site.

[EDITs] - add batch date and FW version.
