It means just what it says. A new block was found on the network.  The pool was slow in detecting the new block and sending your miner new work.  Happens from time to time.  Has nothing to do with your miner.

Sure, but no payment appeared in my wallet, so I thought I had a badly set miner .... So how does a "lottery win" work out? Thank you

You didn't find a block!  A block was found on the network.  That happens about once every 10 minutes.

The chances of your finding a block with a Newpac are beyond astronomical.

Also if your miner found a block you would have a best share value above current difficulty.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Ah, thank you for the explanation and help. I thought I was playing the lottery. So what's the point of leaving NEWPACK on? What is the advantage and goal of this?
Is the difficulty set low or high?

The pool adjusts difficulty automatically to submit approximately 18 shares per minute.  So you don't need to worry about difficulty settings.

Most people mine with Newpac's for the fun of it.  There is always a slight chance of finding a share that meets or exceeds the current difficulty for finding a block.  You have to decide for yourself what your point or goal is.

And good luck to you as well.

It is fun to watch the shares scroll and the Best Share value increment in CGMiner on my Pi.

So how goes finding folks for a new Lottery run?  Tongue
Actually mainly just putting the thread title back to normal. While I'm not a fan of the pool it had to be done...  Grin

Not that well as I hoped. Right now there was 1? member who said that he would go for a next run. Not even worth to check the Nicehash prices tbh. Cheesy
Maybe there is more interest in the next few days. Would love to participate in a new lottery run. Smiley

Hello everybody
Do you know what lastshare value means on the
pool user status?

its almost like a timestamp of your last share that was accepted by the pool basically

nothing important

only number important on solo pool is "best share"

hi guys, I am trying to set up the proxy configuration to rig two miners together but I am struggling with it. Anyone has tried it recently and worked for them? I'd really appreciate if you reply, many thanks in advance

Any particular reason why? Just point them both at the pool using the same payout address or miner name and let the pool itself handle things...

hi, thanks so much for the prompt response. If I do it your way I am running the risk of duplicating nonces while trying to solve the block right?

No. Assuming they are setup correctly all pools send unique work to all miners connected to them.

That's good to know. Can you explain a bit about how the pool distributes the work and how difficulty is calculated? For example if the current difficulty to solve a block is 21.8 trillion and the highest difficulty I've achieved is 500million, what does this tell me? Aprreciate your response

You are pretty much on-target with your results. The vast majority of shares a miner returns are far below required diff.
At the risk of offending others here, here are some Help links from the pool I mine at:
Worker difficulty
Mining details
There is other good info in the Help section there. The mining process is the same for all pools.

Apologies, quick question and excuse my ignorance. I am looking into solo mining so I was wondering if you what you've suggested is also good for solo mining in order to avoid duplicated nonce guesses?

Mining on this pool IS solo mining (KanoPool has that as well as an option). Solo mining just means that you all get all of the rewards and Tx fees minus 2% (-ck's fee) or minus 0.5% (Kano's fee) IF you find a block.

If you mean solo mining to your own personal node - thass another story. AFAIK the more recent versions of Bitcoin Core (the node software) no longer supports that so the pool operators do some addition coding for it to work.
