Select and Match 3: $7,000 worth of PWRB - 1 5,239.4 in bets win (3,500-1 odds)

Bets:

Lots of coins buy back coins but those coins still exist on the chain and, in a lot of cases, are still available for the team to sell at some point in the future. With PowerBalt, the odds offered to the betting community have been carefully calculated so that, after the 5% developer commission (to initially be used to fund marketing and promotional activity), there will remain an average of approximately 10% coin burn in relation to total bets (the figures differ slightly depending on the makeup between one, two and three number bets, but the average is expected to be approx 10% of bets. This, of course, means that the average weekly automated coin burn will increase through time as the betting community grows.

Basically, we have a working usecase from day one and that usecase results in an automated coin burn to reduce supply. As such, there is no need for us to pull the same tricks that some others pull in order to support price - it's built into the chain.

You are correct to be skeptical with any new project, given some of the projects that have came before us, but I can assure you the quotes are 100% factual - clients can bet on one, two or three numbers coming up within the five white balls drawn on the official US PowerBall draw. For three number bets, the odds offered are 3,500 to 1 which represents a 350,000% return. This is why it's 100% true to say that we offer up to 350,000% return on a single bet - of course, betting on one or two numbers offers lesser returns.

PowerBalt offer a similar service to that you'll see in traditional gambling sites like topbet.co.za, but with better odds as it's an automated, decentralized, system with little overheads. On launch, our codebase will be available for full review to prove to anyone that betting and payouts are fully automated, everything happens on-chain, and nothing can be cheated (the results are pulled from highly reputable sources). The lack of overheads allow us to offer great odds whilst also enabling a reasonable coin-burn to assist with supply-reduction.

The odds of selecting five, but matching four of the white ball numbers is quoted on the official PowerBall website as 1 in 36,525.17. That pays out $100 for a $2 bet.

With PowerBalt, you select one, two or three numbers, but must match all numbers - you do not win if you select three numbers and match two.

That being said, the odds of selecting two and matching both with any of the five white PowerBall numbers drawn are 1 in 234.6. The payout for that is 200 coins for every 1 bet.

In other words, winning a two-number PowerBalt bet is 155.69 (36,525.17/234.6) times more likely than matching four in the official PowerBall draw - yet you'd only win $100 for a $2 bet on the official draw whilst PowerBalt pays out 400 coins for a 2 coin bet. This is how the '155 times more likely to win and, when winning, receiving a 4 times higher payout' quote comes from.

With a chance of winning of 1 in 234.6, it means that we pay out on 1 in every 234.6 bets for the two number bets. The payout to the winner is 200 coins, the dev fee is 5% (10 coins) and the remaining 24.6 coins are burned forever. The figures vary a little for one and three number bets, but the idea is the same. (Note: These calculations assume all 1-coin bets whilst, in reality, it's possibly to bet anything between 0.05 coins and 100 coins - but the calculations, with regards to projected average coin burn, remain sound).

Behind the scenes, how it works is that bet coins are fully burned and the winner/dev fee are paid after the draw via newly generated coins - so, in the above scenario, we'd have 234.6 coins burned via bets and, later, 210 coins generated on-chain to cover the pay out.

As you can see, the figures work well. We're replicating what traditional betting websites do and, through automation via blockchain, are reducing overheads to a level that allows us to offer better odds whilst still including a dev fee and coin burn.

The format of the results provided by our data sources (the PowerBall server and the NY Gov server) has changed ever so slightly and, as a result, slight modifications to our wallet source code were required. The changes can be seen in our Github repository.

As a result, you will need to download v1.0.8 of the PWRB wallet at the link below. This is a mandatory update as v1.0.7 wallets may fork during the next bet winner payout (as they're reading results from the PowerBall server that are in the old format and won't see the bet as a winner - basically, they'll think someone is trying to hack the chain and the PWRB security measures, that work so very well, will cause them to ban wallets paying bet winners that really are valid).
