Recently when I want to read about Bitcoin news, I saw some advertisement of bitcoin exchange, the domain is iokex.com. When I click it that's link. it's okex exchange not ikoex. The interface is really same like the real okex exchange, only difference on the bitcoin price only. I make this thread to inform you guys to stay away from this exchange, check carefully about the domain first before use it. I doubt it's from Google. If you were to check those top news sites like Cointelegraph and Coindesk, they rely on another network. Google's pretty finnicky when it comes to crypto ads.

Those rumbling of letters and adding in the midst to make it look like the legit.
Binance has also the same copycat before but it's the letter 'i' that made it different because it's replaced by a different font of the same letter. Visitors must always check the url's properly.

They definitely got stricter, but there still are loopholes that people can abuse to get their scammy ads into Google. While the ads get removed quite quickly, it's safe to assume that their strategy is get-as-much-clicks-before-it-gets-removed. After they get banned, they simply create new Google ads accounts.

Wow nice information to look at on, I believe few investors have already fall into their trap. But rest assured we all will take note over this. Secondly I will also advised traders never to jump into a new Exchange without proper investigation on it.

Those new crypto users maybe who don't check if the site is legit. Scammers will try and try creating those fake sites because they are hoping that one way or another, someone will take their bait. So be careful guys. Now, they are more aggressive as a lot of people are in front of their computers.

If someone does not pay attention to the URL maybe this fake exchange can steal some accounts. It is very obvious that it is fake I guess only newbie will fall into this kind of bad activity. Prevention is better so we need to bookmark important websites like exchanges and wallets to avoid phishing. I also install browser phishing extension like Metacert for safety.

It’s totally fake exchange. So if anybody try to login with the details of real okex exchange might be phished. And the most serious things when this type of exchange links comes through the google ads in the top of first page. So always we should bookmarked the useful links for further usages.

Whenever a publisher gets banned on Google Ads, he or she isn't allowed to create another account or return, just like how this forum treat permanent bans. But how fast Google tracks them is uncertain, as KYC is involved. All I know is that their AI tends to check the ads submitted for approval with some degree of error.

That's really sucks. I saw the same tricks a year ago with MyEtherWallet website. Same web design and just 1/2 word changed from domain name. Lots of people didn't find that tricks and gave scammers their privet key. Rest of the story everyone knows. That's why i always bookmark important websites link always. I don't know how much safe is that but still work for me. And for these kinda situation it's better to enable 2FA verification and always ask for any help in main telegram group chat.

This had been pretty common wayback when it comes to phishing attempts and if you dont have those keen eyes when it regards to spelling then you'll lose your money. Back in the past, there were lots of Cex.io like exchange site but had been busted and i didnt expect that this kind of method does still exist today in spite this one is already been busted.

This isn't happening just with the okex cryptocurrency exchange. Similar fake sites were into operation for most of the cryptocurrency exchanges that are popular in the market. Every exchange in its homepage gives a description on the same, to bookmark the real URL. This will help the user land into the legitimate exchange and not into the fake exchanges.
With the increasing demand for cryptocurrency there will be more and more ways explored to trap people. It is our responsibility to overcome all this issues and use the right one.

I think with your browser never clear history all your research before because you can lost chance with fake exchange website, every day you use some exchange market and keep on your browser story then never have chance with fake exchange like okex, you have original website like of okex for accessing.

Maybe they consider acting on reports made by a certain minimum number of people

Fake exchange many people are losing money because they log in to the fake one and once they start trading the hacker gets the password and email or anything information of the trader they have. Just always double check every single letter of the link thay you click to make sure that is legit website that you login so your coins will be safe because our safety depends on us.

Maybe it is better if you transfer this to Scam accusation section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2409302so you cans ave more people while this fake exchange is still operation. Though the way i see it,this is an obvious scam site because even the domain Name are very Different like with letter "I" is the fake and the original remains as OKEX so basically they are far different .

Yeah, you are right cause anyone can bring their website on the first page to using google advertisement. People can not spelling every time when they visit a website. So they don't check it carefully and do that mistake which one scammers want to. So that's why i thought bookmarking is simple idea to avoid this kinda situation.

To avoid access a scam website, I suggest you should bookmark the real adress in your browser. And before login, rember you already look at the adress bar to sure you type a correct adress of website. Before, My friend lost many thing by use google to find "myetherwallet" and access in the 1st in the searching table. He login in the scam website, upload JSON file to login and scammer get everything in his wallet

There are a lot of fake exchanges that are big ones with a slightly different name. When I first entered the market, I lost money because of scam exchanges like this. I have learned from it and saved it in important tabs. so that when I needed it, just by clicking on the old link I could access the exchange I needed. It is the safest way to protect our money.

The old exchange sites are far better and more reliable Newcomers are scamming more That's why we've to take care before exchanging it Okex.com Exchange This site may be a real scam. I never did but one among my friends lost his money by exchanging this site That's why we should always stand back from the links on this sit. Scammers can't make much impact on these old sites These sites are very familiar and everybody can easily catch the important or fake. These are scams, albeit the name of their website may be a little change so you've got to take care.

Nice that you detected the fake okex, thanks for sharing this to us. Always aware of the fake sites we should always check the url or bookmark the original because once you have entered the login information in the fake site then your account will hack. Google authenticator can help so more security of your account.

This is the key to avoid getting into the fake exchanges. When you are trading often, let's say you are trading every day might as well bookmark the website or platform where you are trading so you can easily access it with just a simple click, or put it on your favorites so it will pop up whenever you are typing on the search bar. I've been seeing a lot of this recently, some are typosquatting the original website that it would look like it is the original website but its not. So everyone should be aware on the sites, always check the security of the website, google can easily detect it.

It’s vital for one to be on high alert with these exchanges. It’s not the first one and is not the last one either, so we have to be extremely careful with the way we go about approach things. So just got to be sensible with selection of our options we pick.

Scammers are never resting and will continue to look for every possible way to carry out their acts. In the case of visiting exchanges and to be on the safer side, I always find it better and wise bookmarking the websites in this case you will be sure. Another way is going through coinmarketcap, also you will be sure you are visiting the right website. We all need to be careful everyday.

Well, phishing sites like this have been made a lot, because of that, sometimes people need to be careful when writing links on a site. This has happened in this forum, even Myetherwallet. many people try to imitate the name of even the template of a large site to trick users, so they can get data from that user. I think it is not only OKEX that has something like this, but this is a very useful information

It’s vital for one to be on high alert with these exchanges. It’s not the first one and is not the last one either, so we have to be extremely careful with the way we go about approach things. So just got to be sensible with selection of our options we pick.
Yeah, these had been known after all the years had passed but there are still fools that who do get easily hooked and scammed by these fake exchangers. I would say that they are just too careless because everything can already be searched up online, it just do take up some little effort for you to verify everything before you would make a deposit.
As long the market or any places do involves money, those scammers wont really be gone and would still continue to fool people who are just too careless or too dumb to understand even the basic of the basics.

Actually there is a difference where if you are careful enough to see fake and real website. The fake website it is clearly use iokex and the real website is okex.
This is why we need to bookmark every sites exchange to avoid phising website being scammed. Moreover if you aren't intens to come to the exchange and the chance to be scammed is widely open.
Or you can avoid it to choose android wallet, I mean currently most exchange in this crypto space certainly have a platform to support in smartphone. It is more safe rather you come to browser.

one of the threats from outsiders, if you are not observant then you will be trapped, like rats, your username and password will be stored by hackers, maybe some people have been hit by this fake site, and lost their assets in Okex, and blame Okex, I think we must be careful and always better Bookmark the exchange site

Not only okex, but there are many fake exchanges that have been spread at this time, even I could see some banners posted on websites that provide information about cryptocurrency. In addition to bookmarking we also must always be careful when wanting to login into the desired exchange and make sure the url is real (because sometimes someone types in typo).

I only trust the official exchange sites that appear in the media because those are the most accurate links, and I always save the URL to avoid scams. There are now hundreds of exchanges that use fake domain names to pretend, and before clicking on any website, look carefully before logging in. Of course, sometimes I also mistakenly click on a phishing site, but fortunately I did not log in.

Obviously even in the site name they are different so why have some become a victim?i don't understand whats happening in people in crypto. Just visit scam accusation section and you will find all of them and also in Beginners and help where some posts goes there for many may know. one of the threats from outsiders, if you are not observant then you will be trapped, like rats, your username and password will be stored by hackers, maybe some people have been hit by this fake site, and lost their assets in Okex, and blame Okex, I think we must be careful and always better Bookmark the exchange site

Lots of scammers who make fake websites, because by making fake websites it's easy to fool people. Indeed, most people when click link websites rarely carefully see the address to be addressed, so many are fooled by the way make fake websites. So I'm not surprised to see a fake okex exchange, if we are always careful when going to click links. Of course it's easy to avoid fraud like this.

It is done already not with the OP but with the other person. okex.com exchange is one of the numbers of exchanges whos been clone by scammers. A lot of reputable exchanges been having this kind of trick and for sure a lot of people had lost their credentials. A tricky thing is that once we mistakenly input the wrong letter, it will directly send us to fake/pishing sites. This is to know that, anything illegal could possibly happen on the internet by now and it helps for the scammer still alive. It is a good idea to bookmark the legit one to avoid getting pished. And we have to check first the site before login, this is to be sure that we are in the right place.

But it's not everything only up to users, exchanges should also pay more attention to security and warn their users when fake site appears and how to get to legitimate one. That is something that we still miss.

A simply tweet will be suffice, and then an email will be good as well. If this is not the case, then we really need to be very careful. Yes, it is hard to fake exchange as first glance, that's why we really need to check everything first. Bookmark the legit sites, educate ourselves, do our research and help create awareness if there is a scam/phishing site out in the wild.

It is best to save the exchange URL or on the exchange's official media to inquire about the official website and should confirm before making a deposit. I never mistakenly click on the link of another exchange because before logging into an account, I always review the site 2 to 3 times. Anyway, being careful is still better, and this is the only way to protect you from scam sites.

Phishing has been around since internet first started. There has been plenty of university scams that started a whole new level of universities getting new style of .com (was it k12 or whatever, I forgot but a brand new extension for schools). People literally scammed out of their whole tuition for the semester, they literally lost all their college money on a phishing website because they wanted to pay online.
At the end of the day you can't stop them, people could get any domain they want, but its your job to check and see if you really are in the website you think you are. Normally I just bookmark websites I frequently use, that way I know where I am going since the correct website I go to is already bookmarked so there is no way I can misclick anything.

It doesnt really cost you an arm and leg to have some little research into things.People who do get victimized with this stuffs are to those who dont have consider on searching up things and directly deposit blindly until they do realize that they had already been scammed. This isnt something new and just been said above that this been around since from the beginning. As long theres money where these scammers to sip on then they would do these kind of things even if they would mimic out known sites for them to fool out people. When you are in doubt then always verify everything before making any deposit and dont let your laziness do control you.

This reminded me of a scam that I nearly fell victim to. I won a giveaway on Twitter and was sent a virtual item, or skin by the site admin. Not long after, I got PMed by an impersonator which I was not aware of, that told me to send the item (or my inventory) to his account to receive a bonus on the site I played on. Being a newbie I was that time, I nevertheless asked on the site chat and was told it was all a scam. Sometimes your hesitance or reluctance pays off.

Yeah, the GA was legit but some scammer impersonated the Twitter handler. I have should have noticed the handler and like you said, the tick too. Social engineering at its finest

This type of scam is like a normal thing that I see these days, there are so many of them that I do see and it's not just about OkeX; other big websites I know also has some fake websites owned by scammers that are pretending to be the real website and its usually newbies that fall for this. This is the reason it's not going to just jump on any site you see, you should do proper research and try to get the right link to the website you're looking for and not just jump on anything you see. Even wallets do get fake ones that are impersonating the real ones. Like I said, it's already a normal thing and everyone should really be aware of it.
I remember there are USA government based reporting available for blocking this kind of phishing sites. I believe people here might have already reported the fake site to be blocked. It must be a responsible for all of us. I will do right away from my end to make sure no scammers go unreported.

Always bookmark the main site and always re-check the url to ensure that it is correct to avoid phishing sites that have a lot of spread in the virtual world because it's not just about Okex exchanges related to phishing issues, things like this have been repeatedly reminded to be careful because even those who already accustomed to using the site but not storing it or bookmarking, they are still possible to enter the phishing hole because of their own carelessness.

Bookmarking would really ensure out that you wont really go to the wrong link or site but people do neglect even into this very basic thing thats why they do really end up on getting scammed. It doesnt really that require too much effort for having a simple search on any site that you are tending to use.Even just using our own common sense would really be enough. We have seen countless scam sites out there and it isnt something new that why we should really be vigilant into our surroundings so that the tendency or chance of getting scammed is less.

Scam like this will always surface and that's why i always appreciating every contributions towards fighting scams posted in this forum. Everyone needs to be very vigilant especially when it come to the usage of cryptocurrency exchanges because scammers will never stop devising new strategy of how to scam people, double checking the links to the exchanges you are signing into is very paramount and always try as much as possible to check for the official links from websites such as coinmarketcap and coingecko
