Taking into consideration the nature and redundancy of Bitcoin technology and the difficulty in scaling, I am very curious to know if Bitcoin protocol will be dropped one day and another coin build to take its place. because now it's almost like the redundancy of Bitcoin and the time it takes for a transaction to be processed is part of what is affecting its mainstream adoption as a currency. please share your thoughts.

The bitcoin technology would stand up in the future technology-wise. The transactions definitely experienced a lot of issues and might be slow at this moment but the community is looking forward to it. The bitcoin is desirable in a lot of countries that bitcoin technology is implemented like Japan, the USA, and other countries. The difference between bitcoin with other cryptocurrency was huge because people already believed in bitcoin investing in something that doesn't have a physical value.

it will take a miracle for that to happen.. as a matter of fact.. I dont even believe that is possible.. most altcoins are just riding on the popularity of bitcoin

In this life, there's always possibility that something will be created more powerful than the existing one. So for me, I don't take no for an answer here. A lot became obsolete with this digital age. But we don't know when will that happen. A lot are really trying hard to overpower bitcoin, creating better features but none of them come close to bitcoin's popularity. Maybe that creation has not been born yet.

No altcoin can surpass bitcoin for now and for the next 5 years , I can't say it is totally impossible, anything can happen as far as development is concerned and technology is improving. The altcoin miners are not relenting and must be doing everything to meet up with bitcoin. Only if bitcoin does not relent in its royalty.

By now we've got more than 7000 cryptocurrencies available in the market with around 30000 trading pairs. Same time lot many cryptocurrencies that have been developed have dead, but the same didn't make developers. They keep or creating the cryptocurrency to be better than bitcoin. With bitcoin's present value and supply it almost has got around 65% of the market capitalisation.

Everything developed and into development have something as a reference. Here the Bitcoin is kept as the reference, further everyone tries making something better and state it is better than bitcoin and some were developed dedicatedly for specific function. This is how the altcoins were getting created. So, the creation will continue, but the chance of overtaking bitcoin is very low.

There's is no way that an altcoin will overtake bitcoin. Bitcoin is the mother of all altcoins, even ethereum cannot win against bitcoin.

It seems that everyone understands it already. The October 2020 statistics says that now, 20% more people became BTC hodlers. This is a proof that most people dealing with cryptocurrencies are absolutely sure that Bitcoin is the crypto market base. It dictates the rules of other alts behavior.

Until now bitcoin is the better cryptos but we never know what we are going to see in the future.CBDC can be a bigger threat for the decentralized cryptos if every government starts to roll out them before the adoption of decentralization because people are still ignorant about centralization and decentralization.

i think, If you are talking about price then I think it's not very easy because of the price difference between BTC and other top coins. people have different opinions and different choices besides BTC but most of them like and trust BTC more. It still has dominance over the market and still, there is no competitor yet for btc.

it's not that easy broo, you think about bitcoin like you would any technology, it seems you think we can easily replace bitcoin with another coin but that's not true. , bitcoin is also a network which means the more people who use it, the harder it is to replace it. isn't it like that?

Do you really think any new coin may overtake bitcoin marketcap in future, while people are dreaming to see bitcoin price at new higher range in future. Even cryptocurrency user don't think that eth can overtake bitcoin even though it is at second position at marketcap. Nowadays we can see a lot of new project but most of them ends as scam. So I will prefer to say no about it.

I believe that this will definitely not happen in the foreseeable future. Recently, there has been a lot of talk about new coins ready to break out into the top, but things do not get beyond these conversations. The fact is that BTC has already earned recognition from many investors and users and other new cryptocurrencies will not be able to make the same success quickly. This may take a long time, but even if it is, there are still no competitors on the market for BTC.

Exactly my take is that reputation and acceptance of Bitcoin globally goes beyond any altcoin taking over it even with its flaws, its Market Cap and Daily volume traded is huge and massive which take years to attained there is no altcoin that can achieve that feat for now, BCH, ETH should have been a potential threat to the dominance of Bitcoin however investors have more trust and confidence on Bitcoin than any other coin although its mainstream may takes years to be accomplished but we will get there someday.

It works like a lottery. You will never know which altcoin will rise in price and which will fall. This is the whole point of cryptocurrency volatility. It isn't backed by anything and therefore its cost doesn't stand still.
it's unpredictable and like the lottery = Any altcoin has a chance to shift Bitcoin...
but for now, I see no Altcoin that can replace Bitcoin even though it has better updates such as low fees and withdrawal processing speed. Bitcoin will not be replaced for the next few decades.

BIG WINNER!

I think that it will happen sometime in the future.

I believe out of these three altcoins, which are Ethereum, EOS and BNB one will become the next  king of cryptocurrency. It is quiet hard but it will happen eventually.

How in the world would bnb take over bitcoin.  It exists only because binance the company exists.  Bnb grew in popularity with the increase use of binance's exchange.  I dont expect binance to forever be the best exchange out there.

Bitcoin has literally become synonymous with the representation of cryptocurrency! The very fact that the rest of the coins are 'alts' indicates its import and value. So, right now there does not seem to be any such possibility, only a pipe dream maybe!

Not only that, but most people are using Bitcoin at this time because of its widespread belief and always large volume in any market, so it's not just because Bitcoin was born as the first cryptocurrency.

We have been talking about this question for so so many years. Many have thought that Ethereum has been the best contender that Bitcoin has but up to this day after more than a decade, Ethereum has not overtaken Bitcoin. So this discussion would take so many years, maybe decades before a contender would be able to surpass bitcoin. Or maybe something will happen to bitcoin and whoever is the contender will probably succeed at that point. But as I said it will take a very very long time before this question will be answered.

No bitcoin is enough of which using a p2p network and are decentralized unlike in banks that our identity is at stake while they can steal it for their interest. Aside from that they let our money deposited to lend it to someone and gets high interest in it and only few percent of interest will goes to the depositor. Sad but true this is also the reason that in 2007 there was a financial crisis happening after these banks do the form of abuse. And so Satoshi decided to make everything anonymous and decentralized through bitcoin. Bitcoin is the only legit digital currency for now and more than 50% of the reported marketcap volume is for bitcoin. However, other altcoins as well done the same and likely to wanted to get pass bitcoin market.
