Back in 2017 I was expecting that ETH will raise and overtake BTC one day, but if you look at the market right now, BTC dominance was and still is around 60 percent and I hardly believe that BTC would be ever replaced from top.
BTC will never be replaced by Altcoin, try to look at BTC prices in 2017, then you compare with ETH prices in 2017 as well, and see how far the prices of the two of them are, because what I often see is ETH will pump up if Bitcoin is also pumped upwards. it all depends on the price of Bitcoin and the dominance of Bitcoin, if the dominance of Bitcoin is still high as it is now at 63%, Altcoin will be hard to replace Bitcoin in the first place !, remember that, and no one will be replaced bitcoin!, because Bitcoin Volume always number one |

BTC will never be replaced by Altcoin, try to look at BTC prices in 2017, then you compare with ETH prices in 2017 as well, and see how far the prices of the two of them are, because what I often see is ETH will pump up if Bitcoin is also pumped upwards. it all depends on the price of Bitcoin and the dominance of Bitcoin, if the dominance of Bitcoin is still high as it is now at 63%, Altcoin will be hard to replace Bitcoin in the first place !, remember that, and no one will be replaced bitcoin!, because Bitcoin Volume always number one I think that altcoins do not have chances, if we compare them with Bitcoin. Bitcoin after halving will only increase its dominance in the cryptocurrency market to the level of 80%. |

How many altcoins are really living upto expectations? Only a few and among those few are altcoins their teams made various claims of how they will beat the Bitcoin blockchain. From my own view, most projects today have given up the hope of trying to outmatch Bitcoin and no new projects can even try it when most of them aren't trustworthy. All I can point out is, the reason why Bitcoin is still on top is attributed to its blockchain which is the most trusted blockchain in this space thus having reliability unlike other blockchains; this makes people to use it more which also leads to it more popularity.
The idea of an altcoin surpassing bitcoin was really popular years ago but as time has passed it has become more and more evident that is never going to happen and it makes sense if you ask me, how do altcoins think they are going to surpass bitcoin when the underlying technology is the same or very similar, if something appears that surpass bitcoin in the future I can guarantee you it is not going to be a cryptocurrency but something completely new and revolutionary. |

Taking into consideration the nature and redundancy of Bitcoin technology and the difficulty in scaling, I am very curious to know if Bitcoin protocol will be dropped one day and another coin build to take its place. because now it's almost like the redundancy of Bitcoin and the time it takes for a transaction to be processed is part of what is affecting its mainstream adoption as a currency. please share your thoughts.
I don't know if what you have seen are enough to get Bitcoin replaced the whole industry did not look at that way, we should instead celebrate that a milestone has been reached and that is we are going to celebrate another Bitcoin halving even though we are in a halving, this is something to thank for. |

no, forever bitcoin will be above we have seen a lot of developments from each of the new coins that have been released either from the transfer speed or anything that exceeds bitcoin, but no one will be able to replace the btc because there was already the first time and most used for transactions and the most trusted coin.

It is difficult for altcoin to occupy the position of bitcoin before or even in the future because the market capitalists are quite far apart so that it is not possible in my opinion. Bitcoin will remain the parent of all coins and all transactions and payment of bitcoin is the most widely used. |

Bitcoin is compared like gold. So I don't believe that any altcoin in this market can replace and surpass Bitcoin. A lot of projects have been compared to Bitcoin and created to replace bitcoin but until now those projects are dead.

There was a time when majority was expecting this as the hype just took the coin from below a dollar and started rallying out of nowhere when the ICO boom started and with the unlimited amount of coins in existence some thought it will over take bitcoin because the price of bitcoin was below $500 at that time. |

I have never thinking that bitcoin can be overtaken by an altcoin even though it's ETH. Bitcoin has a strong community and its investor believe that cryptocurrency aside from bitcoin is not cryptocurrency per se. They just was created by some people who just need a profit for themselves. Yeah we csn see it in some altcoin who end up being shitcoin. |

There is a lot of possibility that a new Altcoin will always rise and be born through lots of varieties that projects who aims to provide new great ideas to resolve present problems that requires modernized solution. But I doubt that a new rising Altcoin can surpass or overtake Bitcoin whem it comes to demand. Technology is indeed important on choosing a potential cryptocurrency in the market but building the trust is also an important element that is needed to be considered as well in which Bitcoin have built for a long time ever since it has existed.

No new altcoin can overtake the Bitcoin's rank or its market volume but in technology, I think many altcoins already doing better than Bitcoin, which is a very good sign. Bitcoin is the base of the crypto market, but it doesn't mean Bitcoin will hold the best technology place forever. As blockchain is open to all, so, we can get any time a better coin that can compete with the Bitcoin. Even last year, people started talking Libra Vs Bitcoin!

thats true . that is why they invent lightning network for btc to make the procesed somehow fast also they creeated altcoins for us people to have option if they still feel that btc is slow .
im now using xrp though whenever i wanted to send or deposit something because i do also feel the slowness of btc but btc never been faded . its still the top coin ( also top coin for investing ) if not for spending and sending money .

Bitcoin is the only coin that does not need good technology to develop because every time people mention this market, they only care about Bitcoin. For me Bitcoin is an asset and very few people choose this coin as a means of payment because Bitcoin prices are very volatile and take a lot of time to confirm. Now there are thousands of altcoins with better technology but investors only buy when the project receives great attention from the community. |

in my opinion bitcoin is the parent of all coins and trading also uses bitcoin to exchange it so i think it is difficult there is an altcoin whose price is bigger than bitcoin, i have never found a high altcoin price higher than bitcoin but it does not last long and ends in fraud |

if what you mean about multi-functional digital currencies like Bitcoin is of course difficult to drop. bitcoin is different from other crypto. although bitcoin and cryptoqurrency have similarities in terms of transactions but bitcoin has many advantages that other crypto do not have, especially in terms of investment value. I believe that bitcoin is a profitable investment of all time.
