So is there anyone planning to adopt all the GPU hash from ETH epoch growth killing off the 4GB?

Maybe something awesome and timely? Good POW utilization needed, could even attract ideologically motivated hash.

Best thing to do is list it on Craiglist, sell for like $75 or so. Then add $25 and buy the RX 470/570 8GB GPU. Currently there are many of these out there from miners who are still liquidating their farms from 2018 and the prices are rock bottom.

Some gamers don't care about the 8GB, so they rather pay a little less and get 4GB. Depending on what games they are playing, it doesn't make much different frames per second wise.

At the moment there is really nothing worth mining for the 4GB cards. Everything else has its ASIC or CPU platform pretty much and nothing good for GPUs.

well... not really a feasible option for me, I have over a hundred of those with some logistical obstacles for single shipments.

I don't know if you have cheap electricity rates and maybe it's not worthing to mine something else than ETH, but you can always put on Nicehash and let it choose for you and extend the lifetime of your 4gb GPUs, I would do that but already sold my rigs  Cheesy

yeah. that seems like an option worth to try. was thinking about it.

But what I really mean is that all this hash will become available ... so maybe some great projects can timely switch to ethash, or integrate into something else...just a thought

Wait for KAWPOW. Just 3 more weeks.

KAWPOW will be nvidia ground.
1070ti/1080ti/1080 and tons of 1060 3gb

amd will be competative only on vegas or higher compute gpus.

those 4gb amd is by far more than even 100% emission of raven could supply.
so currently there is no option for them.

i predict 15-20$ per 470/570 4gb in august.

Private CPU pool, pm me to join 150%-180% of xmr profit.

No they will never be that cheap.

I from time to time sell some of my mining GPUs that I got back in 2013-2014 like the R9 270X and the R9 280X and those even fetch around, $35 and $60 respectively.

There is a bunch of these RX 470 going for $60 currently and most likely the price won't go further down. There is still a demand for them for people who want to do rendering or gaming. Go on your craigslist and check, there are barely any decent GPUs under $40 mark anyways. Some are so old and aren't even worth $30-40 price. Hence why the RX will never be $15 each.

It's funny how trolls think just because something will be close to useless for them that means will be useless for all the people in the world ehhe, remember trolls, the world does not revolve around you.

okay. time has passed.

so ETH seems to be indeed moving to ProgPow in a few months.
now there's also RVN doing well on progpow variant(?), tried that with RedTeamMiner performs on 4GB polarises now comparable or better to ETH.
extremely power hungry.
like 8 cool(and slow) MSIs and two Sapphires(all 4GB polarises with elpida) in a rig consume 1424W and produce 301.8MH on eth, on kawpow for about 125MH it took 1840W off the wall(powered by 2*750W Smiley.
and another rig with fast 11*570 Nitro polarises(also elpida) with 344MH for 1560W produced 150MH and consumed 2056W (powered by 3*750W)

[all my polarises are bios modded, with custom volts set to 854mv-875mv range in ovdn tool, timings amd tweak, customized winx. I also have automated control/deployment and monitoring scripting and I can switch any sw in seconds, most of the rigs are also with wifi power sockets, there're hw USB reset watchdogs, and 100% remote operations. last time I saw my rigs was last year about this time... I run quarantine approved operations Smiley

Also hows ZIL mining doing anyone doing this efficiently? the project itself is very promising.

ethash does not need more than 1200mhz on core, kawpow does but dont think is worth the increased heating. I wonder when eth moves to progpow, if it will reset the dag file size to around 2gb.

Eth isn’t moving to progpow
