I'm using TOR browser for log in bitcointalk. Which browser do you use when you log in bitcointalk? Some may use more than one browser as well. For instance, sometimes I use Chrome as well when I log in from mobile. In that case, vote for the option which you used most.
Well, it's nothing special. Got curious from this thread. You don't require to state it here if you are hesitating. Just voting on the poll is okay.

1 more option: All Wink

I use them all, it depends on where I am and on which machine I am working, I understand that Tor+VPN is the best option to maintain privacy and navigate safely, including browsing Bitcointalk.

I understand that Tor+VPN is the best option to maintain privacy and navigate safely, including browsing Bitcointalk.
Combining Tor and VPN together is rarely better than just using Tor alone, but could certainly be much worse.

Connecting to a VPN first and then to Tor means that your VPN essentially becomes your entry guard in to the Tor network. Doing so will hide the fact you are using Tor from your ISP, but it provides no additional security over using Tor alone unless you are concerned about connecting to a malicious Tor entry guard. You can also hide your Tor use from your ISP by using Tor bridges with or without pluggable transports, so a VPN is not necessary in this case.

If you connect to Tor first and then to your VPN, then you have negated the entire point of using Tor as your VPN provider will still be able to see all your traffic unencrypted.

Can't wait to be shocked yet again at how many people willingly use the Google Chrome browser spyware.

Vote for Chrome since I'm using Chrome right now

I guess Tor probably will win, since most of many members here is really pay attention about his privacy on this forum or cryptocurrency.

Firefox is my one and only choice. I tried Tor once and could not stand its speed.

I'm using TOR browser for log in bitcointalk. Which browser do you use when you log in bitcointalk? Some may use more than one browser as well. For instance, sometimes I use Chrome as well when I log in from mobile.

Me, too. Brave KYC is also worth expecting.

Edit: You are right about Chrome.

Well this may be part of the debate for another thread, there is a lot of discussion about using Tor + VPN has its advantages and disadvantages, here is a link:

https://blokt.com/guides/tor-vs-vpn

I think the main thing is to choose a correct VPN and the settings used.

Just curious, have you vote it? or not yet? Cheesy

Yes.

Thx, RapTarX

Maybe I will be the only one, but it is good to know how others work.

90% of the time Firefox+VPN (Express VPN)
10% of the time Brave +VPN, mostly while on the mobile phone.

I was using almost exclusively Brave for a few months, just to check it out and it was a fine browser but in the end I reverted back to Firefox that I've used for many years now (my primary browser since 2005 I think).

I'm just using the Chrome browser most of the time since its fast, I've tried using the TOR browser but I encounter a lot of problems maybe because of my slow internet connection dealing with the captcha and re-login in TOR is annoying to me.

Even using VPN in chrome is affecting my internet speed, also I read a lot about this brave browser and I think I'm going to try using it.

Nothing to be shocked, man. Chrome has around 70% usage share for the last half decade- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers

Do you log in with an alt account on your mobile? If not, does it make sense using Tor on PC?
My alt was last active on September 13, 2019- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2679734

You have captcha bypass for that- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5042674.0

That is my point. I can see you use Tor for privacy but then Chrome destroys that purspose. Or it is just Bitcointalk privacy is not your concern. FYI, firefox has a mobile version and it runs well.

I'm well aware of that, but that is the statistics for the general population, and we know the vast majority of people are not tech savvy. People who are interested in bitcoin are supposedly interested in privacy and not trusting third parties with all of their information. It is a complete contradiction to be interested in the freedom that bitcoin provides whilst also letting Google monitor everything you do online, every word you search, every page you view, every image you look at, every link you click, every file you download, every post you make.

I don't know which conclusion is worse - that people interested in not trusting third parties with bitcoin have no concept of doing the same with their data, or that the majority of people using bitcoin don't actually care in the slightest about not trusting third parties and use bitcoin only to try to make personal profit. I know which conclusion is more likely, though.

Using TOR browser from mobile device is a huge pain in the ass, hence, Chrome from mobile.
You could use the Orbot app which routes all your mobile data through Tor, and then use a non-spyware browser like Firefox or DuckDuckGo.

I combine a couple of the browsers on the list, but mostly I use Firefox when logging in. Chrome would come next. I Have heard so much about TOR but I'm yet to try it out, maybe due to the fact that I mostly use a slow internet connection and would be a difficult managing on it (from the complaints I get).

Maybe this would solve that problem. Would surely try it out.

I have voted for chrome browser. Generally 95% of the time I am using chrome browser. And sometimes try to use brave and firefox, very rarely the tor, and sometimes VPN with chrome browser. Smiley The most boring thing to me when I try to use a VPN on mobile.

I am so much enjoying chrome than any other browser for now, especially for this period of lockdown its like there are so many people on internet and the network is somehow slow, so I have decided to use chrome. I have some other browsers for other functions. But it tends as if chrome is delivering fast enough for me.

Chrome violates your privacy with all their trackers and data gathering they do basically everything you input in Chrome is being fed up to Google's database for analysis to boost their revenue. If you want a good alternative I think Firefox is the best choice right now as they value your privacy even if you are not using their privacy mode, also their browser has a built in protection for cryptojacking from websites that uses your pc's power to mine for them, this I think is really a no brainer for people who want a safe and private browser.

Looks like I have to choose chrome as the browser that I use to login the bitcointalk.org site. I have used it for 90% and 10% with other browser of the time logged in to the site to date. But lately I also want to consider using another browser to login the site for security reasons especially privacy. TOR is the most likely.

Firefox was my first preference and have been using it ever since I knew about the privacy issues of using Chrome. But since Q4 2019, I have been using Brave browser for my Mobile and Firefox for my Desktop. I enjoyed using Brave in my Mobile, but while using it on Desktop I got some lags, so I stayed with Firefox. Btw, I don't bother to use TOR or VPN and I never log out from my devices.

What privacy(!). The forum itself is so open with open minded people that your privacy is open itself. ROFL.  Grin

I'm using chrome. Easy browser and gets faster results too. I'm not sure if browser really makes sense with the speed or not but I have felt the difference in Safari and chrome many times.

It's not just for forum though, for everything.

Also chrome's got more votes.

A bit concerning to see more than 40% of voters are using shitty Google Chrome. And 2 users voted Brave...Reveal yourself, Brave shills lol  Grin

To those who voted for crappy Google Chrome, here are a few articles about this piece of poo of a web browser, hope it serves as a wake up call:

Why You Should Avoid Using Google Chrome

Goodbye, Chrome: Google’s Web browser has become spy software

Google tracked his bike ride past a burglarized home. That made him a suspect. (not Chrome related but still a good read about how Google is pretty much a tool for national and global surveillance)

I understand that Tor+VPN is the best option to maintain privacy and navigate safely
This is literally in the top 5 list 'worst ways to use TOR'. Using a TOR with a VPN makes your connection much less private as the VPN can see (and possible log if it's one of those who keeps logs, almost every VPN does, though) your traffic while using TOR.

TOR+VPN is like using Bitcoin because it's pseudonymous and offers good privacy, but then you're using a third-party in every single transaction, not so secure and private anymore :/ Oh, and if you truly value your privacy, stop using a VPN unless it's hosted on your own local server.
