It is difficult to evaluate the positive/negative effect of such an advertisement.
But I think you heard what you wanted to hear. If you have no relation to astrophysics, then you are unlikely to be interested in scientific research by Howard, for example.
I think that's actually a really good point. If this were a forum about model trains, would we naturally assume that the average member of the public will take an interest in that every time a particular character talks about it? Because, having watched a lot of that show, I can guarantee they've talked about model train collecting on far more occasions than they've talked about Bitcoin. And I certainly don't feel any particular inclination to get involved with model train collecting just because they talk about it on the show.
It might be more realistic for people in this thread to take their excitement down a notch.
I don't think everyone who watched the show will become a fanatic trader etc, but for a group of those people, the word Bitcoin now sounds just a little less extravagant. It brings it just a tiny bit closer to the world they can relate to. Next time they are in a conversation and Bitcoin comes up, instead of just zoning out, they can say "oh yeah did you see that episode of BBT?". That will make them feel like they are somehow included in the group of people who know about Bitcoin.
And just maybe, if they're anything like me, they will start drunk philosophical conversations with their friends about what it all means etc and start Googling and learning. But I doubt that would be a majority
