I like to read about new malware and see how they are working. But do you know that even the recently developed malware can all be avoided just like the ways you are avoiding the old malware.

If you know how to avoid malware, you have nothing to be worried about.

$60k is a lot of money, if what the seller is saying is true, then this malware is above the purchase of a regular cybercriminal. In the article you posted, it says that the seller has placed $100k in escrow as proof that the malware works as they said it will, the article doesn't state how the escrow was set up, so there is also a possibility that the seller could be a scammer.

People are becoming more knowledgeable about cybercrimes, so buying this is even going to be risky for a criminal who can afford it, because you may not be able to recover your money. I don't care if people are scammed when they try to scam other people, but i care about the victims of scams, so it is important to be very careful about malwares and protect your coins and personal data, don't click on links that you are not sure of and double check everything when it is about your coins.

Based on the article the malware has been offered on a Russian Cyber Forum since April 2023 so its possible that some hackers are already using it if it's effective we will read more reports about this malware but this early we should take our security seriously

The HVNC tool only works on Macs running macOS Venture 13.2 or older software

So, you would have to be using a version of the OS that at this point is close to 6 months and 5 updates old.

13.2.1 was released on Feb 13th (which fixed this vulnerability at least according to the article and Apple)
13.3 was released on March 27
13.3.1 was released on April 7th
13.4 was released on May 14th
13.4.1 was released on June 21st
13.5 was released on July 24th

What the hell are people doing storing funds on unpatched & unupdated machines.

If this happened in late Feb to early April then OK, you wanted others to be sure that there were no major issues happening with the new OS builds.
But now, sorry that's just being lazy. macOS is becoming a better target for criminals since so many people buy into the hype 'macs can't be hacked' and that just makes them a nice easy target for criminals.

your comment reminded me of a video where a person i car tried to buy a book Names How to scam? from a street seller and when he bought the book and opened it, The book was empty. Means there was not text in it. Hehe. Moral of the story, A scammer selling a fake took (HVNC) just to scam other scammers. I means he will fills as he will.

Usually this kind of stuff is posted in the Help and Beginners section, it's there you've posted it initially ? Because the scam accusations section is not as much visited and because it's more a warning than a scam accusation written against someone. DT members won't be able to red tag account. But your article shows iOS seems to be weak against this type of attacks.

I'm not using Mac but this is something that everybody should be aware of, whatever OS you're using for the latest hacking and malware, there's never anytime that hacking and scamming is on high alert than this time because hackers know that not all investors are security educated, this is why whenever I have an invite to invest in Cryptocurrency security is my second priority because there are three ways to lose your investment through a bad investment and through hacking and scamming.

Not a mac and iOS user but it seems that any operating system that you use these days, you need to be careful. Well, we have to because that's how we protect ourselves and avoid these malware. And in today's time, it is a basic need to have that basic knowledge about cybersecurity so that a user should always be aware of the potential threats that can go within his/her device.

This is also what I am thinking of. OP mentioned that this software/tool is being sold in the dark web. The potentality of it that it can also be a bluff sale could be done by anyone who's aware of this. And those cool boys that pretends to be hackers or just known this stuff could also make them fall for it. Anyway, going back as a user, whether you're an iOS, android, MAC, windows, linux or any operating systems user. One thing that you need to remember is to never get yourself a link that you're not familiar with and the same goes for downloading apps unknown to you.
