for me it depends in a projects roadmap, no matter how long or short you hold a coin or token , if there is no usage or purpose, its seems to be useless, choosing coin to hold is very important, because if you choose just a copy tokens, there will be less value, and higher chance it will be a garbage in the future, if you choose promising coins or token it will bring you fortune, in the near future if you decide to keep it for years.
