Interesting discussion and I asked Google to find some information.

The longest difference between successive blocks is 463160 seconds (5 days, 8 hours, 39 minutes, 20 seconds) between blocks 0 and 1.

The second-longest is 90532 seconds (1 day 1 hour 8 minutes 52 seconds) between blocks 15323 and 15324.

This is the Genesis block that was broadcasted in the bitcoin network at the timestamp of January 3, 2009. According to bitcoin wiki, there is some speculation that satoshi did not bother mining it until January 9 or satoshi spent the entire 6 days mining due to low hashrate.

Although the average time between Bitcoin blocks is 10 minutes, the timestamp of the next block is a full 6 days after the genesis block. One interpretation is that Satoshi was working on bitcoin for some time beforehand and the The Times front page prompted him to release it to the public. He then mined the genesis block with a timestamp in the past to match the headline. It is also possible that, since the block's hash is so low, he may have spent 6 days mining it with the same timestamp before proceeding to block

Interesting. I would never have guessed it would have taken over a day. My assumption was that in the early days prior to first halving, anyone could jump in and mine a block if he thought it was taking too long. But it does make sense if 1 day+ was the 2nd longest block if only a few people mined. 1 guy taking a break for a weekend would take away a huge portion of hash power.

Read somewhere that the longest consecutive difficulty downward adjustment was sometime in 2011 (7 or 8 back to back IIRC), this could also have been a period to look for longest time difference between blocks.

Actually I find it interesting to find out that it took more than a day still in the 15000 block "range".

You're free to think that way, but the issue is whether the answer can be found easily via google search or not. If yes, then for some people it's not that interesting. Anyway, feel free to continue the discussion if you want to. Just make sure to reread previous post that sometimes already answer your question.

this part can not be correct simply because even if Satoshi used the worst (slowest) code he would have still found a block in less than an hour.
not to mention that if we assume it took 6 days to mine block 1 then it should have taken the same amount of time to mine block 2, 3, ... since they all have the same exact difficulty which is the minimum difficulty. but clearly that is not true since every block is being mined within reasonable time.
