Wouldn't it be good to see who bumped a thread? It has been a long time the bump system has been introduced. The previous bumping method isn't working anymore and shit projects are having worst days but still I think some projects have managed to get hidden service to get bumped. It would be good to see who bumps a thread. May be this way, theymos can easily share a way to identify the bumping service.

You seem to be agreeing to not make the bump list public a few months back, so what changed now? Did you find some thread being bumped unfairly? If so, why don't you share the threads here so that everyone could have a say.

Non-publicity of data

For now, I am intentionally not making it public who bumped each topic, since that way you can't prove that you bumped anything, and this may prevent people from selling their bumps as easily. I don't particularly object to making the approximate bump scores or bump powers public, but I didn't do this yet.
I agree with theymos's thought. Also, I think anyone can bump a thread. So, there's no way you can read other people's mind if they are intentionally bumping a thread or it's a coincidence. People like their supported coin's ANN to be at the top.

Got some but sharing those serve no purpose. It would be good to see stats so that if any bumping group exist can come into the light. I believe there will still be some people who offer fake bump, they own a lot of high ranked alt long ago. They need to be revealed.

I believe there will still be some people who offer fake bump, they own a lot of high ranked alt long ago.
Bump score is typically calculated based on most recent activity and merit (the last 365 days)
Your base bump power is the smaller of these two values:
 - The activity you would have if you'd signed up 1 year ago.
 - The merit you've earned in the last year.

So owning a high ranked alt which ranked up long ago, maybe due to airdropped merit, would not count much, except the account has been actively contributing to the forum over the past year.
Also bump score diminshes during a month. A thread bumping service would be difficult to operate, particularly as there's no guarantee that a bump would actually bump a thread.

... and if you post in a thread your "Bump" isn't as effective as if you hadn't posted to begin with.  In the ANN thread for bumping IIRC I had to bump about thirty to fifty threads before my bump power was totally exhausted (all the while earning ~40 merits in 120 days - I'm now up to ~100 merits in 120 so if I were to bump the power of said bump would be more effective).

I don't get what you mean here. Let's test it: on the Announcements (Altcoins) board, this thread doesn't show on the first page. After I made a post, it was the 17th topic on the first page of the board.
I'd say my "post bump" was pretty effective.

That's for "Superbumps", not for "posting bumps" (those don't get exhausted).
I'd be interested to see how often Superbumps are used. This doesn't need to be naming and shaming, but in general. I've used it once in a while, but only used a fraction of my "bumping potential".

I would love to have a personal bumping stats instead.
Which thread I superbumped and when and maybe the current bumping power.
That can be for those who have received certain amount of merit the past 30 (or 120) days
Something like the report history we have now.

I don't see why the thread superbumps should be public. Let's keep it like this as it is now.

OP is trying to say that making the list public will help them bust sa bump services but like how theymos has explained it, this could be a double-edged sword since bump services can use it too as a proof of them bumping their thread. It's similar to how the merit system workds, you know the member who have sent you some merits that's why it can act as a "receipt" for people selling their merits.

If the identity of who bumped a thread is public, then someone can prove their ability to bump threads. If this is secret, anyone buying this service would be risking paying for snake oil.

Making the data public would also subject people to witch hunts and that is the last thing we need more of.

That's quite easy to get around. As a "bump seller", your buyer can choose exactly when the bump has to happen. Then all he has to do is check 5 seconds before and 5 seconds after the bump. If the topic moved to the top in that small time frame, it's very likely your bump caused it.

This is a much bigger concern indeed. Bitcointalk has enough too many witch hunts already.

If a thread is bumped, under current circumstances, it is not possible to know how many bump points have been given to a thread or how many bump points other threads have, so any potential purchaser won’t know how effective bumping will be. They also have no way of knowing the total bump capacity via the use of multiple sock puppets.

If it's something that becomes public, I will stop to use it personally. (it"s not something I use often btw...)
I'm not interested to let others know my interests (and maybe become a target) and I have no interest to see who bumped what.

It's also overloading the forum like a Christmas tree, I prefer minimalist stuff

shit projects are having worst days but still I think some projects have managed to get hidden service to get bumped.

i believe most of them are seeing bumps simply because their price is pumping or wants to try and be pumped. it is no secret that people are interested in altcoins for their pumping profits and not much else.

I'd be interested to see how often Superbumps are used.
as far as i can remember, i have used my "superbump" only once, maybe twice. it's just that i have not been able to find any project that interests me enough for me to bother "bumping" it.

Hey, I want you to bump my thread on bitcointalk.

Sure thing.

How would I know if you bumped or no though?

Devs are implementing statics, so it would be easier to check.

I think it would just make bump selling easier.

This thread is becoming an advertisement for anyone why might want to offer their services as a "bumper" People are already offering to give away their merits, now people will see this thread and bump away.
