I have noticed that there is a trust system in this forum. From what I understand, users can obtain good and bad trust, but I don't see what the purpose of it is. Are there any repercussions of having a bad rating in the trust system?

The trust system is used as a way to judge others. You're advised to read people's trust before you do trades especially if you haven't interacted with them before.

It's mainly apparent on the marketplace boards though where you can trade with other users. The # symbol means they're either a scammer or are highly likely to scam. The - += scores just tell you how many of each the user has based on the people you trust (by default you trust defaulttrust but you can change your trust list in settings by clicking your own trust link on your profile)..

Feedback system is used to continue dealings in the forum in a proper way so that people can get rid of scammers (not guaranteed). When you receive a negative feedback, people will not conduct deal without escrow. However, positive feedback does not guarantee any good. Use escrow all the time.

It's very important for me it's giving people a warning about the reputation of the guy he is dealing with, with a trust system we don't have to suspect or easily trust people here it tells us how he behaves in this forum based on his past dealing and transactions.

This pretty much contains all the relevant information about the system itself.

One thing I recommend all Newbies to do is to start using the trust system to send out their own feedbacks, especially negative ones. Relying on the DT network to exhaustively flag and tag all users who are scammers means that there is a large buffer zone (perhaps even infinite) between when someone does a shady action and when someone responds to it. Moreover, it's always better to trust your own judgment in lieu of others' especially when it comes to transactional trust: since the DT network is so vast now with the 100 DT1 cycling monthly, you will most certainly get a number of false positives and false negatives.

Yeah, it's a very complicated system in place here (IMO).  There's the DT list, there's your own personal trust list, there's the flag system--I'm not sure how a typical newbie makes any sense of it.

The bottom line is that if you're looking to do trades on the forum, you should always check a member's feedback history and check what's written there carefully.  Sometimes a member will have a net red (negative) trust score but might not necessarily be untrustworthy when it comes to trades.  As it stands, any member can leave feedback for any other member for any reason, and the feedback might not always be accurate. 

Good luck trying to make heads or tails of it, OP.  Given enough time on the forum, you might be able to get a sense of how it's supposed to work but it's up for debate as to whether it's the best possible system or some god-awful Rube Goldberg contraption dreamed up by a math nerd.

The news is great as a rating system and BitcoinTalk talk forums are a very popular place to work in crypto No matter what we do in the forum we have to be more active in the forum and try to learn something new. Usually, if we do not follow the rules of the forum then there is a possibility of getting a bad rating. There are both good and bad reactions but we have to act with faith Faith is the key to success Negative throws everything in the face of destruction.

It won’t be replacing your FICO score anytime soon, but if you trade here on the forum a positive rating can be helpful.

What I like to say in this system is : Feedback is common, Trust is rare.

You dont trust anybody based on their rating. Since we have a history of people who have farmed their trust with small p2p exchanges and one fine day used that big green trust wall as a leverage to scam someone. On the internet, one of the basic rules do not trust anybody unless you know them in real life closely.

Feedback is a more general term. Feedback is often left of trades, which was why this system was made for marketplace but it has gone beyond that a method of marking scammers and frauds.

Don't confuse your Trust list with feedback
Trust feedback: leave feedback to people you trust or don't trust. Or leave neutral comments.
Trust list: a list of people who's judgement on others you trust (username) or don't trust (~username).

Trust feedback
Trust feedback (Positive/Neutral/Negative) can be used to express your opinion about someone's trustworthiness. In other words: would you trust or have you trusted this user with your money?

Where to find it: Click on a username to go to the user's profile, then click Trust to see their Trust summary (depending on the board it can also be shown under the username).
After clicking it, you're on the user's Trust summary. Read the description per Type carefully:
      
Note that the description for Positive, Neutral and Negative is different than it was 4 months ago: it was changed when Trust Flags were introduced.

Positive (shown as +1)

• If you made a small deal with someone, that doesn't deserve positive feedback.
• If you made a deal in which you risked a substantial amount of money with someone, and all went well, that deserves positive feedback.
• If someone is a nice guy (or girl), that doesn't deserve positive feedback.
• If you believe someone can be trusted, even when you didn't trade with him, that too deserves positive feedback.

Neutral (shown as =1)

• Use Neutral feedback for anything that doesn't mean someone can or can't be trusted. This can be good feedback, for instance when someone helped you out.
• I think Neutral Feedback is currently undervalued on Bitcointalk. It's a great tool to de-escalate without drastic consequences. Please use it when appropriate.

Negative (shown as -1)

• If you believe someone is a scammer, or someone is likely to scam, that deserves negative feedback. Please provide evidence.
• If you really hate someone and he's a terrible troll, that does not deserve negative feedback.

as long as the negative feedback is not from a DT or if someone outside DT gave you an invalid negative feedback. I think you'll be fine

also, as far as I know, besides the theymos(I might be wrong) the person who gave you the negative feedback is the only one who can remove the negative feedback from your profile.

Some times I felt like laughing out loud when it comes to saying trust. When it comes to money matters trust is a 50% thing let's just admit that we will risk the trust in making deals with someone u haven't set eyes on before.

You may see that I'm an fM, wait, it's not because of my nickname it's because of my rank, FullMember.

With the above, what I want to indicate is that you always have to be vigilant in the online world, that is, you cannot trust what you read, first you may be misinterpreting and second, the one who writes it wants you to interpret it that way.

In the real world, some may read the "Tells" and have a hint of something, but still it turns out to be scammed, even by family members. What is the point?

The trust system provided by the forum is only warning by which it should be guided; how it works, how it qualifies, etc. All that theory, in practice, does not always work as it should.

Users who have a negative DT; it only means (possibly) that by their comments inappropriate or not!  they have ever bothered a person or group of people and certain ratings were given, negative comments. Point.

Point: 1 You have never argued with people in the real world or things have gone wrong, no! Well, you don't get into trouble, you go to work, you go home, every day, on weekends you go out with your family, etc.

The above is comparable here (forum) with logging in, making your posts useful, sending some merits, receiving some, reading what other users write and logout.

Point: 2 But in a forum like this there are people who do business, all kinds of businesses, sell, buy, write, think, launch Icos, services and so on, these people for these activities begin to receive DT .

Point: 3 Important, do not trust the users of point 1, they also receive their DT + or DT- either because they go to Point 2 or simply do something exceptionally good or bad.

Final Point: DT, it is a warning, an additional information item, so that you make the right decision, regarding your safety, your economic well-being, but above all so that you are happy here on the forum.

That is my personal opinion of how I use and understand it. Consider the above answers as the guidelines to follow.

On my own part the trust system, I basically use it to indicate people on the forum that are worth doing business with but one advice is don't do it with ur whole heart because people are not trusted. So its a 50|50 chance.

Trust system.  Other then myself I trust buysolar more then anyone else on this forum.

Why is that?

We live in the same town.
I know him his relatives.
I know his business.
I know the workers for his business.
I know a lot of his customers.

We are partners on a small to middle sized mining farm.

How much do I trust him.

More then 10,000 less then 100,000 usd.

There is no one on the forum that I would trust for 10,000 other then him.

Do I use the trust system yes.
Have I been trusted for some group buys Yes.
I held funds for many people.

Is it possible that I could turn bad. Yes.

so if you want to trust people with the trust system as your only guide don’t.
The larger the coin be as sure as you can.

While there's a trust system here, we've also got "flags" to expose anybody with any wrongdoings and/or association with scam(s). This flag system apparently helps everyone when they visit a person's profile who has been flagged, and you can see a big warning over their profile considering them risky in order to conduct any sort of trades with them. People don't often check other's trust ratings so I believe that this flag system can be more helpful here.
