Meat has a "best before" date - not expiry date.  There is no reason you can't eat meat months after the best before date, if it is refrigerated.

Certainly I will not continue to cook chicken and expired food because it will be harmful to me and all members of my family and will cause us to be poisoned for sure. I always prefer to buy fresh chicken, it is more beneficial and safer than frozen chicken

Most things are good even after the expiry date, but you could restrict it to adults if you are afraid of something.

My experience with eating things post the "best before" date, is that they may taste funny, but not a big deal. Frozen meat does last until unfrozen, more or less.

The date on the package is the minimum required date to be fresh. Companies don't want to get sued over bad meat so they always will take some days before the meat actually expires.

If the color is still normal and it doesn't smell very bad you can still eat it.

One tip would be to just put in the freezer right after buying it, if it takes a few days for you to prepare it. In the freezer it can be stored much longer.

I would not cook it and feed to my family, i would not risk my stomach even it's on the fridge it can cause diarrhea. I just buy new and fresh meat in the market.

You're right if it's doesn't have bad smell and looks good, i will cook it also  But i don't recommend cooking meat on expired date, it's possible that your family will be sick if you cooked it. Just buy new one if you had a budget.

You are not going to have stomach problems by cooking a meat or chicken that has expired one day ago.
Companies are giving slack expiration dates for this reason. They want to protect their brands as well.

But if meat will stay in freezer then it is safe even months after the best before seal.

if the expired meat has not been stored in the freezer it is not advisable to consume it after the expiry date and perhaps not even the last day of the expiry is valid for all types of meat

Yeah had been eating also left overs that stays for month in the freezer but nothing happens.

and I  usually buy more that our budget per week every grocery time and it happens that added every week.

So in the end plenty of meat left under the freezer.

It depends why the chicken expired. If it was diseased, and then chlorinated, then I wouldn't eat it under any circumstances. In the past I've hung road kill pheasant until the maggots arrive, and they banged off the maggots, and cooked it. That is the way you get the true rich game flavour. I'm not sure that is advisable with most modern farm reared chickens though.

Meat never expires it decomposes. If you have kept your chicken in an airtight container and stored it in a freezer it will never decompose and hence it can be consumed. Those expiry dates do not make any sense unless the meat has been processed.

not only sounds dangerous! it really dangerous...
Rotted flesh is very sensitive to outside air and will speed up the creation of worms plus the aroma produced by that meat is certainly very smelly. you better eat the other, don't sacrifice your family's health just because you want to be economical.

If you freeze meat well, you can still eat it even a couple days after expire date. I do it all the time, especially if I "don't feel like chicken today"  You should still take care, maybe if your freezer wasn't closed for a night or so because you forgot it, you should consider throwing all meats away

You should  read  the  thread  and not only  the title.

Foods that stays in freezer  for more than a month after the expiry date not mean it is rotten.

This  is frozen good and not coming from trash.
