Everyone should realize that this doesn´t look like a tweet from CZ, those who follow him know his tweet´s style. And if you closely go through all of his tweets, he is not posting links to third-party websites. But the question is how hackers succeed to hack so many accounts?  Roll Eyes

According to a statement issued by twitter, they believe it to be a coordinated social engineering attack which targeted their employees who had access to internal systems and tools later they used this access to take control of many highly-visible (including verified) accounts and Tweet on their behalf.

Thanks for your quick alarming post. Crypto related people don't believe that Bill Gate will announce Giveway post like- send 0.1 BTC and receive 0.2 BTC within 30 minutes. This is fraud and hackers task. They hacked most of the public figure and crypto exchange and posted same type of post. We should not fall in such trap.

How did they managed to do that, can someone explain what is a social engineering attack?

it's probably Twitter's fault for letting hackers gain access to these bunch of verified accounts.

It's a type of attack in which hacker/attacker uses psychological manipulation to trick someone into giving sensitive information in this case they gained access to internal system and tools of Twitter.

Obviously, have never seen binance announcing giveaways in bitcoin, always in USDT,  this hack is something users should be careful with it. But the question here is,  who's to blame about this hack now.?  I think it's twitter because they couldn't constitute good security and privacy policy and tools for their users. This isn't the first time crypto official page is been hacked. Feel pain for victims already.

Just before a couple of days I was posting on a thread people have become smart and stopped falling for these scams and then this happens. Atleast Twitter has started to block tweets having crypto address in them to stop these scams.

It's an obvious scam if you judge it in the right perspectives, before you send you money doing the diligence of
investigating such claims, there's no way that doublers will be supported
by this reputable business.

But the question here is,  who's to blame about this hack now.?  I think it's twitter because they couldn't constitute good security and privacy policy and tools for their users.

No argue about that, it's twitter's issue the platform being compromised and the end results are those victims of
scammers.

Guys! It Looks like Binance Twitter Account has been hacked. Stay away from that fake giveaway.

the whole Internet is buzzing about it. That accounts of famous people were hacked and used to extort bitcoins. They promised to double the amount of bitcoin that will be sent, but did not have time to collect a lot about 12 btc. hackers used an anonymous bitcoin wallet Wasabi.

How does this anonymous bitcoin wallet Wasabi work? I thought the hacker was stupid to use bitcoin but look like they have all of it cover if that Wasabi work like you mentioned.

Social Engineering attacks usually involved trying to trick people under disguise to convince the victim to give hacker confidential information. I think hackers able to convince influencer's management staff for these accounts to give them confidential information and hijack it as we have seen.

If this is how crypto will be known by many, that would be a bad idea and might cause fear and panic to more people. The victims also might find it hard to recover from their losses, peradventure they gave out their all to the scammers.
The sorry thing about this is that the cameras used a means that could have been very hard for some persons to escape and not believe.

Panic because of what reason? If someone should panic it's the social media users who found out their accounts aren't safe and all their private data stored on social media can be easily exposed.

There are still people who believe their public image and reputation depends on the status of their social media accounts. These people will sooner or later learn the hard way that centralized platforms are unable to protect them.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with these hacks and is just a form of payment these people demand. Bitcoin is the money of the Internet so it's normal they chose it.

Yes it was hacked but not just the binance twitter but other top on cryptocurrency got hacked now under investigation why they got hacked maybe the security is lacking on the twitter and now they must think how to secure the account of someone to prevent the hacking or else they will find a platform that was safety.

I am not sure how to react to this because this is all over the news and on the internet. There were many hacking and scam incidents in the past but never to the level that was achieved a few days ago. And twitter's security is also affected since the issue happened on their platform. So I guess what this means is that the users will now have a hard time trusting twitter since hackers can now basically enter an account and post malicious links for their own benefit. Bad news for crypto right now and I am just hoping this will not affect the whole ecosystem in any way.

What is that? lol the problem was on the twitter and it has nothing to do with the password as when the email that already used to sign up on twitter was not getting hacked and everything will be undercontrol. The problem was hacker changing all of email.

Trusting is subjective though, it's a third party and centralised that's why it is really hard to guarantee that everything is really safe on their end. And this is one example, everyone is affected specially that accounts that got involved. And report surfaces that the hackers was able to get hold of the tools that internal twitter employees used that's why it is easy for them to access the accounts without requiring any 2FA.
