Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Meh,
non of the European pools I signed up for are working atm ... being forced to mine at a US one, missed launch coz of that, while I had everything preconfigured and standing by.
Suchpool for example is so dead it doesn't even show a net hashrate :S
Hashing at west1.us.dedicatedpools.com now ... only working pool I could find quickly and their Europe based pool ain't working either.
Oh well, at least I still got in while diff was below 1.
