Hello,

I have sent BTC to Hitbtc account and I was not able to trade, so when I checked it showed I have to complete my KYC before trading. I uploaded all my documents and they were rejected. Then contacted the suport and they said i need to submit my documents in Latina. I informed them that my government doesn't provide documents in Latina, they said I need to provide a certified translation.
Any suggestions on how to do that.

Thank you

Ask for your coins back, close the account and go to another exchange. Why would you use HitBTC? Tongue

They have one of the largest withdrawal fees (e.g $15 for ETH and $20 for USDT) and they keep locking people's funds because of some KYC bs. This is just another example. Just take a look at their trust page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=194708

Believe me or not, but they were once charging $100 withdrawal fee on USDT.

The Latina excuse is a clear red flag. Even without that, I wouldn't trust them with my identity details. It's on your call, but if I were you, I'd consider my bitcoin gone by now.

And I'll repeat TryNinja question, why in the world would you use them? Hunting some shitcoin that only got listed over there? Hopefully you won't repeat your mistake dude.

I informed them that my government doesn't provide documents in Latina, they said I need to provide a certified translation.
Any suggestions on how to do that.

If TryNinja's suggestion doesn't work [they decide not to release your funds] and if you deposited a significant amount of BTCitcoins, then you might as well give it a shot...

- I'm not one of their users but had a similar experience with another exchange so this is what I did:
  • Looked for a translation organization [in my country] > give my document > they'll send it to somewhere else to check for its validity > they'll translate [after initial approval] it after receiving it once again > notarization process.
    - Depending on where you are, you might end up with slightly different steps.
    - I'm not vouching for HitBtc in any way.
    - Mine took around 3 weeks to complete.
    - Don't use online translation organizations.

The only way is to contact their support and ask to back your fund as suggested above but if they will refuse, there's nothing we can do, just move on and find a better exchange. They are just shady exchange since they implemented that KYC, they used this as a tool to scam certain users if they will see there's a weakness to comply with the documents. In short, they were selectively scamming people.

Try to research on Scam Accusations section, you will see a bunch of complaints towards them just like on this case. OP has lost 2.6 Bitcoin on HitBTC exchange.

If you also check their Bitcointalk account you will see that there are few cases that similar to yours according to the tag.
hitbtc

If you have been research here and ask towards their services, that's wopnt happen. Sorry for your loss.

What documents have you attached? do you have a passport? It is universally accepted and has an English version.
Certified translation means that a famous agency translates and signs your documents.
It costs about $ 25 dollars in my country and it may be cheaper than it.
The problem is do they want to verify identity or steal your money?
They do not care for their reputation, so creating a Scam Accusations will not change anything. There are already hundreds of people who have been scammed by "identity verification problems."

What is Latina?

They are selective scammers who steal funds by using the KYC excuse and even if you do what they ask they'll probably find a reason to reject what you submit. If it's a small amount of money I'd forget about it. If it's a large amount then you have to try.

Ask them if they recommend any certified translators as a bad job is probably one of the excuses they'll use to not return your money.

One of the most ridiculous exchanges ever that's still in operation. I still wonder how you fell for their trap and sent money their platform minus considering other much better exchanges like Binance, Kucoin...

From the look of things they might block you from withdrawing your money too until you provide the documents they are asking for. Right now you have no choice except do what they told you to do and also hope they accept the documents and unblock your account. Sorry my friend.

What do you mean by Latina?

I have some funds in HitBTC that I haven't even tried withdrawing yet I might just try submitting KYC tomorrow if I can be approved just so I can get my coins out. I was also trying to buy some USDT two days ago from them but I have no idea why my orders were rejected. I tried asking the users in the chatbox but the only replied I got is to PM someone.

OP's called Cryptoindia. Maybe his documents are in Hindi and they want a version translated to the Latin alphabet? It doesn't make any sense though. I've never seen any service that asks for KYC doing something like this.

This might be personal but if you dont mind, how much BTC you have sent to Hitbtc? and  why the  hell you do consider this exchange to make a deposit if Binance is much a better option?

same as said  above if the amount is really worth of to get it back then the options given on giving documents in Latina would be your best shot and instructions had already given above.

If that still havent granted then thats the time you can make accusation. Its clear that they do just like to steal of your coins.Hitbtc had known issues back in the past and having
ridiculous fees as far as i remember.

Never seen one either. Even if they need a translated document, saying please translate to English makes more sense than this. It's definitely a red flag, and I don't think OP chance is that high, since many complaints don't get much luck either even if they were not requested a translated document.

I wonder if you have your research first before sending funds on that exchange, there are lots of open scam accusations against them as for you know.

ID is composed of details only for the name, id number, address, birth date, created/expiry date, and the country where it released, even if you don't translate those details it's easy to know what is what, asking those translated details doesn't make any sense. Geez, this exchange is really sh*t.

Seen a support's response back then about HitBTC's KYC that provided documents and information should be on Latin or Roman transliteration. I don't know how Hindu drivers license or Passport looks like but in case it was encoded majority on the Hindu language, there's an accredited certified translator each country (I believed*) that issue a Certificate of Accuracy for translated documents and that can be used as a proof to where it should be submitted (in the first place, there's actually no need for this as a requirement for any exchanges).

I don't know how hassle the method or process is, so for OP, are you sure you want to put a time on this? If the amount involved can be bear, as in literal loss, I suggest not to push for it as HitBtc, although I don't experience any sh*tty here, do have a bad reputation or reviews here.

But since you have mentioned that the problem is you can't just trade as you need to comply with KYC, can you check if you can initiate withdrawal?

But since you have mentioned that the problem is you can't just trade as you need to comply with KYC, can you check if you can initiate withdrawal?

Allowing withdrawals after the KYC card has been played would interfere with Hitbtc's 'business model'. As soon as they hit you with that your money isn't going anywhere other than their own pocket unless you're lucky.

I have doubt OP can't initiate withdrawal after deposited the fund on this HitBTC, though I can't find in their Term of Service and even their Privacy Policy I didn't see stated their you can't able to deposit unless you aren't fully verified with the KYC thing. It sounds like a trap to me, when people deposited their fund they can't able to withdraw it unless they will complete KYC verification.

It's our responsibility to have research first before having decision. If OP know this earlier, probably OP will use another exchange not on hitBTC.

But since you have mentioned that the problem is you can't just trade as you need to comply with KYC, can you check if you can initiate withdrawal?
I have doubt OP can't initiate withdrawal after deposited the fund on this HitBTC, though I can't find in their Term of Service and even their Privacy Policy I didn't see stated their you can't able to deposit unless you aren't fully verified with the KYC thing. It sounds like a trap to me, when people deposited their fund they can't able to withdraw it unless they will complete KYC verification.

HitBTC has a certain limit for non-verified accounts. I used to maintain one for a few years until they suddenly locked both trading and withdrawal accordingly due to certain suspicious activities they found on my account. Whatever those suspicious activities were, they told me nothing about.

I guess OP must have known beforehand that HitBTC is offering non-KYC services. But he/she have known better than trust HitBTC with that. There are probably countless of unknown triggers on the exchange, very little things they consider suspicious.

Well, OP has no choice for now but to try to negotiate with the site's support regarding his/her documents. If the site insists on him/her producing documents in Latin characters, then he/she has to request for an official translation coming from the ID or document issuer itself.

If looks like you can never comply with the requirement, TryNinja is correct, get your money and close your account and look for an exchange that you can qualify since you are ready to submit the KYC requirement. If I may ask, how long you have been trading with hitbtc? and are you trading with unverified account?

Personally I have been trading with hitbtc, I complied with the KYC and I have never face any problem so far.
