What are ppl doing if they have BTC in physical coins and want to raise funds ? Redemption seems like vandalism and sale is impractical for the bigger denominations.

As the price of Bitcoin rides higher and higher, the risk/reward is definitely moving towards peeling being a legitimate option. Especially with premiums at such historical lows. If wealthy collectors don’t start snapping up Casascius coins and raising their premiums, their in tact numbers are sure to continue dropping.

I read on coinheaven cc about the worth of those physical bitcoins that exist as of right now and I was amazed. I guess the value will grow in the future as it does for some "regular" coins.

As I understand a coin sealed with say 1 btc it can be stolen by the builder/loader of the coin.

So if this is always true peeling the loaded btc seems to be a good option.

Now if you purchased an empty coin and loaded it then put it into safe keeping you would be okay.

I was going to buy a lessor item and was discussing the how to of loading the coin with  Miner Jones. So He mentions I can self load some doge coins and or have him load some doge coins.

Since I have 2,000,000 doge and wanted to give a 1,000,000 loaded coin to my partner buysolar I had an interest in this.

I know miner jones is good, but if doge went to $1.00 from its current $0.0035 price. The coin would go from 3500 to 1,000,000

Even if it went from $0.0035 to $0.10. it would be worth $100,000.

So peeling a coin that you did not load becomes pretty tempting.

I was only really thinking about Mike Caldwell’s Casascius coins. I suspect the answer is that they will generally remain unredeemed and will be traded between BTC holders for a numismatic premium Of some percentage of the face value.

I personally am not holding my breath. I don't expect to see one here ever. (I'll leave it to readers as a puzzle as for why I feel that way, but it's really not important I guess).

Then again, maybe I'll eat this post someday, as ofc, would be neat to see. Wink
