Hi I'm looking for building myself a mining RIG with 4x Gigabyte Radeon 5700 XT Gaming OC.

Is the EVGA GQ 1000W a good PSU for this installation ? If it's not, could you please tell me which I can buy ?

Thanks !

This is alt coin not btc.

I asked mods to move to alt coin.

The answer to your question is. it will work as will the corsair rm1000x. which ever you get cheaper buy.

I have multiple threads on builds in the alt coin section

Why take very expensive PSUs when an 1800W costs $60$ on aliexpress for example? if you look at the videos of chinese farms, there is no brand there ... it minimizes the costs as much as possible which makes sense, i bought 15 1600 / 1800W power supplies at $65$ delivered, and no problem with

Order any server block with wires for a mining farm. Look for quiet power supplies such as the 2450W Delta.
Its price will be less than $ 80, but you can connect 8 video cards if you decide to increase the number of video cards on your farm.
To buy a new power supply unit for 4 cards for 200-300 dollars is not the best financial investment.

Do NOT touch those chinese no name power supplies with a 10 foot pole. Not only are they VERY bad quality, they are inefficient causing you to lose money over time.

Server PSU's are NOT quiet AT ALL, infact they compete with ASIC's on being the loudest mining gear out there.
Good power supplies last decades and are by FAR the best investment for peace of mind, bad PSU's burn far too many GPUs than noobs realise.

Yes, thats a good GPU for 5700XT Ethereum mining. Not to mention EVGA has good warranty and RMA service.
Please always use the 80% rule to make such decisions - for a 1000W PSU make sure you have a system that never needs more than 800W.

What is your experience with server blocks?
A 2450-watt power supply with a maximum load of 600 watts from 4 5700XT video cards will practically not heat up. You can put a speed controller for the fan of the power supply or ask the seller about it. I have different power supplies from $ 40 to $ 250, they failed, but not a single video card broke.

1) Visit techpowerup.com and find the TDP of your cards
2) Multiply that TDP by the amount of your cards
3) Add 40-60w — that's the amount that your CPU will consume
4) Add 100w just as a reserve

Easy!
