Gain subscriber first and you can have that by doing interesting Videos that may get their attention,Nowadays it is hard to gain because there are so many bloggers and video makers that almost sending the same topics and film,so you must be unique and trendy to have much attention.
after that you can start making money because sponsors will come towards you and offer something to promote their company as well.

Before you starting youtube channel. You need to know youtube SEO. Without SEO you can not get traffic for your video. After SEO you need good video content. Remember that content is king. And last think is you need a good quality device to video your content.

First of all find a topic that interests you, where you could make something interesting for others to watch. I would recommend you to make a viable channel that will grow over time. Many people on youtube just try to upload vidoes from other people and profit of it, until they get hit by youtube or the owner of the videos and lose all rights to make money of it.
If you are into history and documentaries I would recommend make a channel with new content about the past. I see a lot of demand about such topics on youtube. Once you have some viewers you will profit from the youtube Ads in your video, additionally you can ask for support from your viewers via Patreon and on top of that I would recommend looking for a sponsor if you have a consistent numbers of viewers per month.
Don't get me wrong, this will be hard work to make a big channel, but it's a good time to start.

Isn't obvious? Make original content everyone wants to watch. What? that might be the tricky part. But once you find it, you can monetize it. I think the cut youtube takes a a little on the too much side, maybe other streaming services would suit you better, such as twitch for streaming video gameplays, etc.
