It is such a futuristic idea and a dream come true if ever such thing would really happen. I am pretty much sure that we are all have been waiting for that perfect moment to come alive since it has already been years since cryptocurrencies have been established specially Bitcoin and it have already been years since the day that we are all wanting and dreaming for a massive adaption of Bitcoin usage and make it as one of the payment option not just for a certain country but as well as into the world as a whole.

I cannot pretty much wait until that day comes that whenever and whatever stores and merchants you come along is you can easily used up your Bitcoin as a payment option without in need of converting it into your local currency for it is already widely adapted and accepted everywhere. Looking forward for that thing to really happen sooner or later. That would be the best dream to came into reality for us crypto users for sure.

I guess everyone has the same feeling, bitcoin today is just for investment and I still think that bitcoin is not yet ready for spending or buying things online. Still, the market price is volatile so I can't really imagine it as a currency because the value is changing from time to time, just like accepting bitcoin as payment it is risky as always but you could easily earn a profit just like investing in bitcoin. I think investing in bitcoin is a good thing for the long term and you could totally make something by saving it.

Maybe merchant could be allowed bitcoin payment when the market price becomes stable and that could happen in the future as bitcoin adaptation continue, still, we don't know what could possibly happen or predict it, something could always happen maybe market price continues to pump and adopt or market could always to dump until it reaches zero.

I am planning on opening a small business on my place and I would love the idea of accepting crypto as payment method for it.
I think it is a good way to promote and to help people acknowledge crypto more even in a small way.
We already have a small store and I am planning on opening a food business since we couldn't operate a small restaurant due to pandemic I am thinking of made to order food and delivery business.

Restaurants are now starting to open but people should only be limited inside  . On some stores they require i.d because they will only allow people according to their schedules . It's a good way to continue the business or try other business that are fully alowed today except food business . Go on with your ambition of promoting btc because not all can do that  . Time will come that that btc will be use anywhere when all people are familiar to it

When Binance issues their card, OP’s wish will be fulfilled partly. He we be paying with Bitcoin, but still through exchange to fiat. Not exactly what he expected, but still a small step forward.

There are already coinbase cards, but it seems that they are not so popular. I wish Binance will run a campaign go make their cards more popular.

It will be a good initiative and if you could provide payment option in BTCitcoin and anyone already using BTCitcoin would pay using them but if your plan is to attract new users you need to provide them incentives to pay them using BTCitcoin if not anyone who never used BTCitcoin will never bother using them. The reason i know this is because i took the initiative to start accepting BTCitcoin in a few business ventures including a hotel and a lodging business and until you give them discounts and offers they will not bother even to inquire about it.

It hard to convince everyone to use their cards unless they get customers that wanted to spend the coins they purchase, majority of the investors are here to make the profit and they do not care about spending the coins they purchased for some products in the supermarket and that is the reality, we can dream about it when there will be a time when the price is stable.

This is not expected in the near future. Except that in a very progressive society, and that is very unlikely. Bitcoin is decentralized and anonymous, and this is not profitable for the state. If only bitcoin changes the architecture of its structure and becomes controlled, then perhaps we will be able to buy bitcoins in stores in the city.

This can take place when global adoption takes place around the globe. Making this method of payment as an option in business will hlep spread the awareness of this digital currency to the world. Though, this might take long before we be able to pay with Bitcoin for online shops or physical shops.

For now you can probably buy gift cards with your bitcoin and use it. I know its not the same as buying directly with bitcoins, but still feels good to be able to spend bitcoins indirectly to buy from the supermarket. Almost all of those major supermarkets have their own gift cards.
You can go to bitrefill or coinsbee. I bought some giftcards from them before without any problem (coinsbee has better rates than bitrefill).

spending directly with bitcoin is a fun thing, because we can easily use it. and this maybe I think this is what many people want but they can't apply because it's limited in their country they can't do this to shop with bitcoin

I don't really expect that to happen in the future and it certainly took time to prepare and maybe it's not bitcoin but altcoin according to each region. And also because nowadays most bitcoins are used by investors to make profit not not spending it to buy products in supermarkets.

If only Lightning Network is being used by many Bitcoin users right now then this can be possible right now.

Although there are some establishments or stalls which are accepting Bitcoins, most or all of them are still aren't accepting it and they are more convenient in cash rather than Bitcoin or any other crypto but I think that this will change in the next months or years. There will be a time where Supermarkets will accept it only if LN will be adopted widely. As a customer, I don't want to pay using Bitcoins with very high transaction fees and slow transaction speed.

Here in our country I already see few stores (not supermarket) accepting bitcoin as payment. The adoption is happening but it will take a long period before we can see a huge changes since we belong in third world. Crypto is not quite popular here but somehow the number of users increased due to lockdown. I think if the government recognize crypto as a digital currency, people will start to use it and more merchants/businesses might accept it as one of payment method.

I know how you feel, I also feel that but we can't force everyone involved in our lives to use bitcoin. Some people cannot accept the risk of fluctuation and violating regulations in government. Digital currency is a means of payment for the future, it remains the community to increase the excess bitcoin to be seen as a means of payment for the future. Besides, is it true that we as users can accept bitcoin fluctuations when payment instruments accept bitcoin, I mean many users complained when the price of bitcoin fell last year.

I think bitcoin is best as an asset rather than as a regular payment tool instead of cash.
Reason:
Bitcoin transactions more slowly than cash and bank cards at transaction counters. Bank staff will not wait until the first confirmation of the bitcoin network.
Paying by card will help you accumulate bonus points and can help you to refund in future transactions.
Paying through bitcoin is also risky that the bitcoin storage applications can get into trouble and you will lose your money, but for payment cards, the bank will ensure the safety of your money. Organic.
So it is best to choose cash and payment cards instead of bitcoin in everyday transactions.

Not until LN is available and widely adopted. Just imagine spending BTC for daily purchases today - a few dollars of fee if you want your tx confirmed in next block most of the time, ~10 minute wait till your transaction confirms - how that would even work, do people have to stay in the shop until their transaction gets confirmed?

For now, if you don't want Visa and your bank knowing what kind of butter are you buying, you should stick to cash. It's better to convert your BTC to cash once a month and spend it, inflation doesn't matter on such a small scale.

And LN still has a bigger learning curve than the layer 1 so, It is probably not going to happen any time soon.

Something like doge would work better than btc probably but again, it won't last forever because doge has its limitations too.

It may sound a nice idea to have bitcoin as a mode of payment at the supermarkets, but before it can happen, there are lots of things to consider.

The technology right now used for transacting with bitcoins isn’t the best just yet. If bitcoin would be used in supermarkets, it wouldn’t be convenient since a single transaction takes for about 10 minutes to be completed. If you’re going to have many transactions, it could take for about an hour or so since per transaction it requires another confirmation. And the consumers and businessmen don’t want that because it would just lengthen the waiting time lining up at the cashier.

Another thing is it has a high transaction fee. It just wouldn’t be practical for you to use it for small transactions because it would cost you more. It can be more appropriate to use it for big transactions only so you can reduce the amount you’d spend for fees.

As much as we want bitcoin to be widely used and accepted by these merchants and their businesses, we can’t make it right away. I hope the services offered would develop into something better than we have now, so we can consider and take a leap for this kind of situation.

We still have a long way to go, but hopefully someday it’ll happen since bitcoin has a lot to offer that majority weren’t aware of.

Most of us are dreaming and hoping that we could used our bitcoin as payments to pay goods and services in the real world a long time ago. But I think it is not going to happen from now on because a lot of crypto users are complaining about the high fees and slow transaction that it takes 30 minutes - 1 hour to complete the transaction.
