This seems to be a sore topic.  But fear not if for some reason the price of PR is pumped and the hashrate is too damn high, the guy who is holding most of the cookies will likely just dump ... and I don't mind that because it benefits the dev.  Because it is the dev.

This proves 2 things.  Proto can raise funds for dev resources, and we might just have a launch rocket ready-made for side chains.

And if all that is problem.  Then proto could just fork off test net (since it had thus est. some hash), then you have UNO, test, and prototype nets.

That's winning!

The only question is if it might be best to splice proto back onto the UNO chain then fork it off.  That would grant side chain equity back to uno stake holders.

NOTES:

1. cannibalising UNO hashrate, given merge mining is a none issue ... want more hash for UNO?  Then petition the big dog pools, a few TH/s are just old rigs that are out dated for BTC PH/s pools.

2. the tech underlining this would allow a prototype net to petition the same big dog pools to attach it as MM.  Also the pure testnet UNO is/will also be MM able.  But why pump the hash on that net?  Not any value gain, but you can't stop big pools from attaching so it is just like that. :/

3. "I have heard absolutely zero in regards to the testnet being used to try or develop new innovative features" ... well then you're not reading the right thread.  Proto thread has posted that proto is specifically a toy for dev/techs to play with, investors be damned should their play cost them $. monetize over innovate NOPe innovate over monetize is the understanding.

I can vouch, these are beautiful bars and make a nice physical place to hold your UNO. bigtimespaghetti is also very friendly and easy to work with.

Yes, I agree BigTimSpag is top notch, as are these Unobtanium braded bars. I might need a few more, as they are very collectible if you're into Uno or crypto. Besides, it is great time to buy silver.

One of the biggest humps I personly had to get up and over when wandering into the land of crypto is how the damn thing works.  But with bitcoins worth $25-$5 I was such paranoid to do any play'n that might loss/delete coins.

If I had a 'play' coin then such E Z R to learn about how 2 crypto.

Bit in bold - no I don't think it is.  The purpose of a testnet is for development testing; testing out new code and new features - e.g. the merge mining changes should have been tested there first.

Should sidechains ever be implemented they would be tested there first.  Stress testing (if required) should be done there. If it breaks entirely so what? it is the test platform.

Using that same environment for new users to show them how it works and practice on is not I think correct.  For example if whilst these new users are "trying things out" a stress test is underway and it takes hours for a transaction to go through is that going to be a good experience?

The situation we have now is that the test environment is being monetised - and so its use for true test purposes will be compromised.

If any sort of monetisation-of-test-net-is-inappropriate position reaches any sort of consensus, I will willingly abandon the notion of giving Proto to people to play with -- and Hagbard will have picked up a good few beers' worth of Uno for his trip to the convention!

I don't accept Tertius's point that it's-okay-to-lose-just-little-bits-of-Uno (the Precious!); but I sure do accept his use-some-other-(worthless)-altcoin-for-the-purpose point simply because IndiaMikeZulu has done just that, and I have repeatedly recommended it.

I mentioned this a few posts back, anyone that needs training wheels can always derp around with dogecoin. If you screw up and lose some, so what?

Eventually you graduate and learn to use the full orchestra that sha cryptography provides. Some will never acheive the balance and stay with the lesser coins for the rest of their time in cryptocurrency. Takes all kinds I guess.

pnoch's works fine for me.  do you have the unobtanium.conf file in ur ApplicationSupport/Unobtanium folder?
