This discussion was started by members of the Unobtanium community as a moderated forum to share news, ideas, and resources about Unobtanium, an exciting and useful crypto-currency/crypto-commodity. German Uno thread.Chinese Uno thread.A backup of this UNO Bitcoin ThreadUno (aka Un) is rare, fair SHA256d, pure Proof of Work crypto-currency with fast 3 minute block targets and KGW difficulty adjustments every block. It was fairly launched October 18, 2013 by Blazr2. There was no pre-mine of Unobtanium, not even a single block, and no IPO. There is no POS inflation. The launch was an undisputed fair start, with low rewards of .001 Un the first 2000 blocks to give all miners a fair shot. Unobtanium's blockchain (aka "The Rockchain") has been consistently mined at high difficulty since it's launch. Block rewards began with 1 coin per block, halving every 100,000 blocks and finishing with a minimum subsidy of .01 Un. The final 250,000th Un will be mined in 2043, or 30 years. Uno is often referred to as a crypto-commodity due to it's rarity and desirability, and it's tendency to hold it's value even in a declining Bitcoin market. Uno has an active community, a trust-based exchange, a secure merged mined blockchain. Take a look at Unobtanium, and you'll quickly see that it is set apart from other cryptocurrencies in important ways, including low inflation, community, longevity, fairness, rareness, distribution, simplicity, security, and optimism. Uno is a different kind of cryptocurrency, and is well on its way to becoming the first cryptocurrency desired as a non-asset backed commodity. Merged MiningUno implemented merge mining with Bitcoin at block 600,000 in May, 2015. Merge mining allows a Bitcoin miners to also mine for Uno. As a result the security of Uno's blockchain increased significantly. Bitcoin miners earn more for their hash, while contributing to the security of Uno's blockchain. Miners will continue to receive Uno block rewards for the next 300 years. Developers Bryce Weiner, Lead Blazr2 (aka HagbardCeline), UNO Founder. THREAD DISCUSSION RULES
Total number of posts removed from this thread since it began: 13
Purpose: the purpose of this thread is to facilitate cordial discussion about Unobtanium cryptocurrency including development, strategy, exchanges, mining, businesses and services accepting Uno, and current events impacting Uno.
Keep it respectful. You don't have to love Uno or avoid controversial subjects. Say what you want, but refrain from childish name calling and fud.
This thread is moderated, and is a small part of a larger moderated forum. To keep this thread listed on Bitcointalk and to ease the load of Forum mods, the thread mod insists that posters adhere to the BitcoinTalk Rules listed here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
Partial summary of BCT rules that are enforced by the thread mod:
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]
2. No off-topic posts.
3. No trolling.
4. No referral code (ref link) spam. [1]
5. No link shortners that requires users to view an ad.
6. No linking to phishing or malware, without a warning and a valid reason. [e]
7. No begging. [5]
8. No threats to inflict bodily harm, death threats.
9... see the full rules thread for additional rules. The above are the basic rules.
Q: Do you moderate/delete (possible) FUD, accusations and untrue information? A: Sometimes. The mod of this thread doesn't have enough time to check every single piece of information and verify the validity of the sources. If the moderator reasonably believes that the post contains a large degree of FUD, accusations and untrue information, or threatens to take this thread off topic, he may remove it at his sole discretion.
However, trolling isn't allowed. If a user is habitually posting obviously false nonsense just to stir up trouble, then it's considered trolling, which is prohibited, and it is likely to be deleted.
Q: Will these rules be universally enforced and fair to all? A: Probably not. The thread mod will do the best he can, but is not perfect. He doesn't see everything, and his judgement is at times questionable. All people will not be happy at all times. Oh well... go start your own thread.
Q: Will a warning be given prior to removing a post? A: Probably not.
Q: Can I argue for or against the rules, appeal or restore a deleted post? A: No. You can take your post and post it as an unmoderated thread in BCT, and take your chances with the Forum mods. If your post is removed by the Thread Mod, then it gone from this thread and will not be restored. Forum Mods do not want to be bothered about the moderation actions of Thread Mods in a moderated thread, so please don't waste their time. They are bigger problems to deal with than a post being removed from a moderated thread.
Q: I hate the heavy handed way you moderate this thread and will start my own Uno discussion thread. A: If you want to start your own Uno discussion thread, you are strongly encouraged to do so. I'll see you there!

I hope not. I didn't repost the thread exactly as it was. The links above are edited. I removed dead ones, added new useful links, and curated the content. I think they're useful to people who are interested and want to learn more about UNO, right? The subject is different. If I've done something wrong, let me know, but I don't see it. We need a place to discuss Unobtanium, and this is the best forum on the planet to do it. My intentions are good and above board.

In the midst of reward halving anticipation and speculation I came across the following about Maxcoin - MaxCoin block reward will be halved from 96 to 48: The Maxcoin developers have today announced the reduction in supply of Maxcoin, following repeated requests from many of users and the consideration of this early. This could make the coin find a bottom in price and then start to climb back up. http://maxcoin.nl/2014/03/606/I do hold Maxcoin along with Unobtanium.

What happened? I never had any issue with uno and right now my wallet is stuck at 0 connections and did not updated for last 28 hours. Does anyone have some working nodes?
I had the same problem. I was able to fix it by adjusting by unobtanium.conf file as follows: maxconnections=30 addnode=rockchain.info addnode=coinex.pw addnode=p2pool.org I just try to keep my .conf file as simple as possible. I don't think I need a max of 100 connections, so I reduced it to thirty. I visited some of the sites that I had seen in other people's unobtanium.conf files, and I just picked the 3 that seemed the most professional and trustworthy. I was able to instantaneously connect with the .conf file above.

We need a place to discuss Unobtanium, and this is the best forum on the planet to do it. My intentions are good and above board... I hope that counts for something. You're the Hero Member BitcoinEXpress, so I'll defer to you. Thank you FallingKnife for starting the new thread. We need a place to talk about our favorite coin. I hate to say this, but the lack of communication is killing Unobtanium. THe Doge guys REALLY know how to make a coin successful. People who buy a coin want to be stroked, at least a little bit. Ignoring the people who could potentially buy your coin is a fool's recipe for success. We have had a lot of great recommendations that were completely ignored. What are the odds that those people will ever make recommendations again? What are the odds that they will ever buy Unobtanium again? We are really shooting ourselves in the foot. I don't think that people realize what a precarious position we could be in in three weeks. If the miners give up on UNO after the next halving, this coin could be DOA. Just look at what happened to Noirbits (it is done). In fact, if you want to see dozens of dead altcoins, look at the second 100 page on Coinmarketcap.com. There are several dead/abandoned coins there. This silent method doesn't work. The brutal truth is that no one wants to buy UNO because: - The community doesn't talk to them or listen to them.
- There is nobody promoting the fact that they accept UNO.
- People who want to try UNO have been complaining for months that they install the UNO client and they cannot connect to peers. Nobody is listening to them.
The recommendation that I really liked (the one that was completely ignored) was to team up with the makers of Unobtanium beer, and do some sort of cross-promotion with them. The person who recommended this (I don't remember who it was) also recommended doing a cross-promotion with another company that had a product called Unobtanium. This was an absolutely fantastic idea that could help to jump start UNO. I know that this is a highly unlikely team-up, but Avatar 2 is going to be released in 2015: http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/84987/20140323/avatar-2-movie-release-date.htmThe tie-in with Unobtanium from the movie is obvious, though it would be a miracle if we could get official support from James Cameron and company. However unlikely, he who cannot ever dream big will never get big. The creators of Dogecoin are proof-positive that miracles can occur if you are willing to think outside the box. I wish that we could get someone in the UNO community that had this kind of vision. This is the only thing that is holding us back. If we continue on this course of silence, then this coin will fail within the next few months.

I agree, everyone will lose interest if nobody can get the client to easily connect. It's crucial to get that fixed.

Unobtanium got Mintpal'd! You have ~2 weeks to remove your UNO from Mintpal. Mintpal is delisting Unobtanium because it's not a satoshi-ante crypto.

What happens if someone does not withdraw within the two weeks, does Mintpal just keep the coins? I hope we can still email them after the two weeks and get our coins out. Otherwise people who did not hear about this will just lose all their coins to Mintpal.

Falling Knife, the release site link below is a dead link. This thread was started by members of the Unobtanium community to share centralized resources about our favorite coin. We'll try to keep the link list fresh and up to date. Let me know if you find any other good links or find some that have broken.
Got it. Thanks for helping keep it current.

Yeah, that really stinks. Mintpal didn't give UNO a fair shake. UNO was only listed there for about 10 minutes. I hope the UNO markets at https://comkort.com/ take off. These guys have setup UNO pairs with Doge, BTC and LTC. The exchange is fairly low traffic right now. It's a nice looking site, seems to function well. I wish them luck.

I agree, everyone will lose interest if nobody can get the client to easily connect. It's crucial to get that fixed. What is the issue exactly? It just doesn't connect because the Unobtanium.conf file needs updating? That sounds like a simple installer issue. Those of you who had the problem, how did you fix it? It wouldn't take much to get that repacked. I could hire someone to rebuild the Windows installer. I just need to know exactly what we need done. I'm not worried about the Linux installers... those guys are smart enuf to figure out -). Mac... who knows. [/list]
