Skill based games are great but only as long as I am assured that the game is being fair to all players and I am not betting against a robot or a script that is made in such a way that I would always lose.

I often play chess with people online and make small bets with them on the game and people cheat a lot when money is involved so you have to be very careful when playing skill based games because you might have even lower chance of winning than luck based games.

I would actually love games that have an element of luck and skill both involved for example fantasy based sports where we can pick players and earn points on how they perform and the top points player wins.

That's actually a step up for the industry but it will only surely be a hit for people who likes changes within gambling since most people are really stuck on the traditional way on how they can earn money from Gambling. Change is still good though once properly thought of and nothing can go wrong by trying something new. Betting in an skilled based games may somewhat addicted when it has a money involved. And yes cheating may attract people who are betting especially when the winning prize are high. But even small bets are attempting to cheat since money were involved. Sad to say i didn't even tried betting in any skilled game because i think i am not good at it, i didn't also rely on luck but somehow i am amazed seeing people who are skilled playing games like chess.

More like myself mate, most of my gambling activities are done with skill games base and not just luck base games. Though, sometimes I do exercise myself with these luck base games because of entertainment and fun in them than the skill games( though, not all time). I don't remember where exactly I read those studies as it was long ago and I don't have a special interest in the topic, just curiosity.
