Bento Wallet - easy-to-use, lightweight, inspired by Uniswap

I've built a basic online Bitcoin wallet for sending small amounts to your friends and family.

There were few occasions when I wanted to gift someone a little bit of Bitcoin to get them interested in the technology - bought Ledger hardware wallet each time. In practice, using this is inconvenient because Ledger can costs more than the amount I would like to gift plus the use of it is a bit too complicated for non-technical people.

With Bento, you have one click account setup and funds transfer. Should be easy enough to understand for someone who doesn't know anything about cryptocurrencies.

My question: did you ever give any crypto to anyone as a gift? What method did you use? Did the person you gave it to had any problems with understanding it?

I would never keep anything on this online wallet you call bento.
Website is badly made without any information about it, and when I tried to register it gave me some error with bad spelling:
''An error occured while processing your request. Please check your information and try again.''

You can just give them a private key which they can import (If they trust you), or explain to them how to set up something like Electrum..

Yeah, I neither was able to register. By registering using an email, I assume this wallet is somehow custodial?

Sorry about that error, it should work now. Yes, this is a custodial wallet with all its downfalls. It's optimised for use by someone who might be overwhelmed by blockchain.com - think sending some Bitcoin to your grandparents.

Yes, and I actually just posted about it.  If you read the post, you'll see that it was a Ballet wallet loaded with some bitcoin that I gave a family member--and I immediately told him about the security issue and recommended that he transfer the funds to another wallet like Electrum.

And OP, I'm sorry but with all the wallets available right now (including very safe ones with open-source code), there's no way in hell I'd use your new online wallet to transfer any amount of bitcoin.  In fact, I wouldn't use an online wallet at all--because there's no need to take that risk.  The Ballet was bad enough security-wise, but it was only a small amount of BTC that I loaded it with, and it made for a nice presentation.

But good luck with your web wallet.  I don't think there's much demand for them these days, however.
