Don't take it as rudeness... but it pisses me off now how you all talk about the competition as if there are no more important problems.
I feel how my DNA is changing, I could not even imagine that those who speak the same language with me would attack my country.

That's why I don't give a fuck about the vote count at the moment, and also because:

• war on my land
• two out of three men in our family are already on the front lines
• 12 hours straight I hear a siren
• there are almost no products left in the shops
• in a day, I may have to transport my family again.

Man the thread was created on 25^th of Jan which means you have 37 days for the voting and it hardly takes few minutes to cast your vote and still you are saying you are late? If you have been following the thread you could have done it earlier but now there's no chance.

I can feel your pain mate and it's really heart breaking to see a beautiful country has now turned to be a devastated land and how much pain the local residents must be feeling.Have 2 known ones obet there gone for medical studies and can feel how much the bad the situation is there from their talks
so be strong.But i truly appreciate your efforts and all other Ukrainian people's who stood unite in this difficult hour with their country and against the Russian army.Preparing food, shelter for family and giving training to people for all the petrol bombs is inspiring for all of us.

Yeah I know, I didn't turn on my laptop for more than 2 months due to real life business. I only checked my profile occasionally without logging in via mobile, until I found the words like "News: vote for bitcointalk community awards" under my profile picture a few days ago and bookmarked it which I thought it was an interesting event with many sponsors.

Same for me. The war is not in my country yet, but I understand that it will be here (I am from the country of the aggressor - Russia, and I understand how it all ends). My DNA is changing because I don't understand how the whole world allows this to happen - in the middle of Europe, a terrorist country is trying to destroy another country.
No one is taking any real emergency measures. I'm scared to imagine what consequences all this will have - now everyone clearly sees that it's enough to be strong and you can do anything - rob, kill. And as long as you're strong, everyone else will just look at it.

It saddens me to see how indifferent people can be to someone else's suffering. Now I see a similar situation in Ukraine, as Russian-backed forces and pro-Russia sympathizers terrorize people and use violence and intimidation to further their goal.

The Russians have their own tragic history of aggression against foreign countries, but there's no denying that their efforts to destabilize Ukraine are for political and economic reasons. I don't have words to describe the hypocrisy of their arguments.

Those people opposing Russian aggression are not just fighting a battle for their homeland. They're fighting for all of Europe, and the future of freedom!

mumang siat: He has submitted the vote two times. He also reposted his vote once by quoting it. He has deleted his first post and the quoted repost. Then submitted a new vote on 21st February and received 1 merit in that. (Post history)

mumang siat's vote will not be taken into account, as he has less than 50 merits.

Mups099: The user has submitted the vote twice within few hours gap. However, he hasn't received any merits on his posts. After his first submission, he was informed by a forum members to not spam in the voting post as he doesn't meet the requirement. (Post history)

He submitted another voting post on 22nd February when he has earned 50 merits. ‘wtsimis’ received 3 merits on his second voting post. (Post history)

wtsimis appears with only 1 vote now. As long as he submitted the vote after having 50 merits (and he did so), his vote is valid. He has 59 merits now and he had 51 when he submitted his (actual) vote.

If you find any other inconsistencies feel free to highlight them as well.

Why is humans like this? We tend to be lawless and unnecessarily smart. Infact I wouldn't know what to say about this. Why should someone want to vote twice? Is it that some persons have decided not to be law abiding that they will like to cheat every process?
Why this kind of behaviour? Is it as a result of personal wish or environmental influence? I am surprised how humans can actually be.

The other time it was people commiting plagiarism in voting by copying verbatim Ratimov vote and pasted it, I couldn't stop laughing

The voting has been closed on 3rd March, and I haven't found anyone else with similar activity. However, there was few more entries from ineligible forum members. All of those posts are deleted now, but some of those ineligible voters has received merits.

Simply they were trying to receive merits. Those votes will not be counted (based on the rules), and they aren't going to be picked for the prizes draw. Those users has successfully received merit from their voting posts. User preikaler is a great example of those abusers.

I think that we learned something from these two contests and, probably, from next edition, icopress will make some changes (assuming that he will still keep the contests going -- of course, with administration's support as well). I advise that one of the changes to specify that all the users voting on any post will be automatically disqualified (in case they will be nominated by someone). In this way, we can avoid all the drama (and / or abuses?) that took course on this contest and, if I remember well, on the previous one as well.

Another suggestion that I am making is to take the contest to Ivory Tower board, thus ensuring that no members with ranks below Full Member are able to interfere. This way we will avoid a good amount of spam. Indeed, this would mean that members with ranks of Newbies, Jr. Member and Member will not be able to vote, no matter if they have more than 50 votes, but, considering the very low amount of such cases (during actual contest we had less than 5 such users, if I remember well) this would not be a problem.

I also hope that some lessons have been learned from the previous two competitions, in which I unfortunately did not vote for some of the reasons I have already explained in some of the previous posts. Just to clarify that I do not blame @icopress, but individuals who, due to their personal interests, made this competition very questionable.

I forgot to vote. I actually intended on voting in some of the categories this year, just things got in the way. Although, I definitely think there's been a few problems with the current format highlighted, and I believe for most of them they can be somewhat mitigated for future additions. I do think there was more interest in this years competition than the previous year, even without all of the controversy surrounding certain voters.

Pretty much every single industry I've worked in outside of this forum, at some point in the process someone is cheating. I could probably count on one hand theThe major reason is a lot of people are motivated by money, which usually means they try to make as much of it as possible, and while merit might not be obviously linked to money, it definitely helps certain users with certain goals.

I fully understood your point of view, Lucius, as I read your previous posts and I share most of your thoughts. I am sure that icopress also understands you and never thought you would blame him. Practically, the situation that happened was like this: Zeus gave fire to Prometheus, to give it to people thus people would use it to get themselves warm and cook their food, but people used the fire to burn each other's homes. icopress did his best to organize a very complex competition, spent a lot of time to think about categories, eligible voters, contest rules etc., he tried to entertain the forum, in a way, but some took all his efforts as an opportunity for personal benefits.

I fully support this idea, and I would also suggest disabling the merits in this thread in order to prevent competitors from motivating voters in this way.

I am glad my idea has fans and, as I see, you and icopress are two of them. However, if the contest is kept on Ivory Tower board and if it will have a rule to disqualify any user which would award votes, then there would not be necessarily needed to disable merits in the respective thread. If any merit occurs, the respective user is disqualified and, I think, this will be more harsh for him / her.

Although, I definitely think there's been a few problems with the current format highlighted, and I believe for most of them they can be somewhat mitigated for future additions. Certainly, the problems can be mitigated. We can all learn from first two editions of the contest and make the next one greater


And another suggestion I'd like to make, for the next iterations of the contest, is to have two phases during the contest: a first phase where all eligible users can vote any users they want and a "play-off", where top 5 users of each category are qualified. In the second phase the voters can nominate only users which qualified in the play-off. I think in this way the contest would raise even more interest and it will be more spectacular.

I think it's a very interesting idea. And it can even help to reduce the likelihood of ties arising. In addition to even being able to facilitate who does the collection of votes. Having the specific name of the candidates, the vote can be in poll format and that makes everything simpler and more practical.

Good, idea but was that ever done before? I mean wouldn't that mean theymos would have to intervene and make this specifically for this contest? Imho, more elegant solution would be to simply disqualify anyone that merits the voters, like @GazetaBitcoin and few others suggested. In the end, it goes in line with bitcoin philosophy about personal responsibility.

It's technically possible to implement such thing. But the real question is whether theymos will implement such thing, especially when new forum software is in development (although no one knows when will it be ready)?
