As some users changed their nickname, how this is going to impact on voting?
Are the votes for “The pharmacist” lost forever? Are you going to manually adjust for them?

Big mistake or bad timing for making this change, especially if they win something
Seriously now, they are obviously the same members everyone voted for and they still have the same ID number tied with their username, for example Pharmacyst aka The Sceptical Chymist has ID number 487418.
Maybe we should include this ID numbers in next season on Bitcointalk Community Awards voting.

I find this idea very interesting, the inclusion of the ID of the users who are voted for.
It is true that it will be more work for those who vote, but it will guarantee the votes for those who change their username.

It might even be easier to collect votes with that information.

Considering how many years he waited for the fulfillment of his desire, I do not think that this idea will be relevant. On the other hand, I know another user who managed to change his nickname twice, to whom the admin was favorable. What dances with a tambourine other users should take to convince the admin to change their nickname can only be guessed at. Therefore, changing nicknames to numbers, I think, would be just extra work for the one who will calculate the results.

I am not saying for the change to take place now.
It would be next year, when voting, it would include the two elements: username and ID.

Considering how rare name changes are, is something like that really needed? At least for me it would be a pain in the ass to have to include ID on top of the username. I say keep it as it is, no need to make things more complicated.

I can guarantee more people will mess up if they have to jump through hoops. Some already write names incorrectly, but it's still obvious who they mean. If they add the wrong userID, it gets worse.

Totally agree.
I was jokingly referring to that when mentioning that voting via ID would favour AI’s.
Voting via ID would also make counting votes extremely more difficult, I guess (I suspect it is done by hand).

I happen to think the opposite, mainly because the count should not be done by hand.

A number is always the same, so no matter who writes it, the result will always be the same.
Of course, the person can also make a mistake typing the number, but maybe more quickly users write someone's name from memory than their ID. Dai would have to copy-paste the ID for less failures.

But of course, it depends on how the information is collected.

Looks like some people have nominated Lafu01, while I'm sure you wanted to nominate Lafu.
Most likely, there are some more nominations containing spelling mistakes...

If in doubt, please check BPIP by searching the name of your nominated members, if your spelling is correct to avoid any confusions.

Could be cumbersome to do that, discouraging not really committed voters. Or maybe we want to discourage less motivated voters?

Obvious spelling mistake should be handled automatically: “Fillippone” “Filippone” or “fillipone” have little doubt about voter intention.
“Lafu01” vs “Lafu” should be handled with a little bit more care, maybe tagging the original voter.

I agree with you, the problem is if there are two users with very similar names. A different character is enough to be another user.

But of course it all depends on the moderator doing the counting and your common sense.

I have seen that now a few times and there are some Users have written " Lafu01 " instead of " Lafu " .
The first thing that was coming into my mined when i readed that is , that the Users that have voted with Lafu01 copied and pasted from other voters.
I guess thats the case for my name , because there is Username here on the Forum with the name Lafu01 .

Some username are hard to write without looking at the profile for few times, sometimes that's why voters copy and paste from other users. But for "Lafu", I think even though they close their eyes they still seem to be able to write it, unless there is username change with combined. So if that's wrong, I don't think they know who they voted for.

Craft Master, seems to suit him. As a campaign manager as well as someone who help the community with bitcoin lending services, that's why some people need to nominate them. I don't know her much more than that, but as one of participant in signature campaigns he's managed, I think you know her a lot better.

Yeah, when the voting started, I saw someone voting for "Lafu01" and I have forgotten it since a while but recently, I browsed submissions of new voters and saw "Lafu01" again. As far as I've checked, "Lafu01" has been voted for 3 times. 
So, posing a hint for that, maybe these members nominating "Lafu01" will edit their comments and new voters will finally stop copy pasting existing comments and also stop including errors.

Yes, if in question, looking up those names (we have plenty platforms for this like BPIP, DdmdDdmr's Merit Dashboard, or even some sites from LoyceV like his Trust List Viewer), should be easy. At least, it would require voters to put in some effort.

Yeah, we've probably already got the simplest form of voting, so adding the requirement for including a link to the profile or worse the illegible userids, that's just a recipe for disaster, and will likely just end up invalidating a ton of votes or make the vote counting job a lot harder than it already is.

Whether or not incorrectly spelt usernames are included in the voting is up to the one counting the votes I suppose. It should be fairly easy to determine what they meant in most cases, but it could potentially be a can of worms in a few situations.

Yeah, I realize I made my username way more cumbersome for members to write out and *gah!* I apologize from the bottom of my charcoal-blackened heart.  Just refer to me as TSC or Chymist and I think everyone will know who you mean.  And if not, it's probably not important anyway.  Lol.

Bah!  My pronouns are he and him, by the way, not they.  That's a joke, so laugh.  And I already made it clear that I don't want any votes and don't want to win anything, so if the name change messes everything up, it's no skin off my back.
