Thanks for the video voskcoin, I think It depends entirely on the capability of those two GPUs in that rig of yours, for fast ROI it's better for newbies to go RX470 and 570s because they are lot cheaper and tweakable to lower their energy consumption and fast ROI too, on amazon those cards are available at 120$ to 140$

Also mining is good for those who have free electricity in their country or those who have enough money to go green power like solar or wind.

Why putting two hot GPUs in a closed case? And for 1 grand you should be able to squeeze inside a standard rig a lot more used rx 580 (at least 6 for 600-700 USD)

I think the target audience here (Noob/Beginner) is someone that wants a dual purpose rig that can also mine. I like videos like this as it shows all the in/out of everything and now when people ask this question of "how can I get into mining?" instead of me having a 30 minute conversation with them, I can just link them this video and tell them to watch it.

Since most noob/beginners aren't going to risk buying used cards, I would expect they would be looking to buy something new on a budget.

Regarding heat, I agree the case choice here is less than ideal but you could just leave the side panel off and negate a significant portion of the heat problem.

My criticism on this video; it skips over the entire portion of what hardware was selected, why it was selected, and the costs associated with it. Although the list of hardware can be found in the blog post, a noob/beginner isn't going to know why they are buying the pieces they are buying and I think it would have been better to have this information be spoken to in the video so noob/beginners can better understand why the hardware was selected.

That being said, still gave it a thumb up.

I am yet to watch the video but that swanky, transparent case itself is overkill when it comes to mining for a noob. If someone wants to get into mining, even if they are a noob, they need to realize that there is a DIY factor to this. The end goal of a mining rig is efficiency and simplicity. The closed case in this example will result in lot of cooling inefficiency.

That is why the classic setup with a wooden or a metallic rig is the best, imo. You can easily find examples of these on youtube or on websites like firstminingrig etc. If anyone wants to spend a 1000$ on a rig, your money will be much well spent on one of those setups.

if you want a case with 2 cards  for a newbie that will also be able to do other stuff.

You want 2 blower cards.

You can get away with 2 GPUs inside an enclosed case as long as you have good intake and exhaust fans AND if they are mounted vertically instead of horizontally. Most gamers keep their PC vertically up, so the GPUs are horizontal, and usually the crossfire/sli GPU is the one that suffers the heat from the first GPU since it only sucks in hot air and doesn't have as much of a bigger gap as the first GPU.

So the photo above might work and its actually a clean looking set up that you can keep in the living room and won't upset the wife. However with 2 GPUs you aren't going to make serious money anyways and is mostly considered as a hobby and a gateway into crypto since you can mine a little and don't need to go to an Bitcoin ATM to buy crypto.

It's always better to mine coins without cases to get rid of heat easier unless you are mining with a single graphics card only, try mining without the case and you will see better cooling.

OP why no info about the name of the GPU in this ming rig? I would like to know how much one GPU will generate every 24hours of continues mining

You can get rid of heat just fine if you use reference blower fans like Phil noted above. The blower fans suck air in one end of the card and pump the heat out the slot exhaust. If you're doing this with 2 cards it's much easier to extract the heat out of the building and funnel it out a window or vent hole. Blower fans are typically louder but this is an enclosed case and that should help dampen the sound.

Well, for instamining and learning something different from trading is something good to have as a personal hobby. Of course with the proposed components it won't be an easy ROI, but maybe this isn't the focus of the project.

I have a small 4-GPU rig using RX580s. During the recent ETH gas explosion, my prospective profit was hovering around 6 USD per day. Its another story that my rig was lying unused and i was someplace else so i couldn't put it back online to earn those profits.

On normal days, those 4 GPUs have a daily profit of around 2.5 to 3.00 USD. It has taken almost 2 years to ROI. I think if you can get hands on older GPUs available for a pittance on ebay etc. and have an electricity cost of around < 0.06 USD per kWH, GPU mining can still be profitable and a fun way to earn some crypto, albeit with an initial investment of ~1200 USD.

As I stated earlier an actual case with two blower cards works fine.

I have three cases in my buddies office since Feb 2018. They each have two 1080ti units in them.

So six cards. Running nonstop for two years and Eight months.
