Have you ever heard of this scam or read, in most post saying in a year they have earn a lot, and let you comment How, and they will tell you how to earn like they do?
They will ask you for information,
Things that they may asked:
1. wallet address
2. keys
3. codes
4. or they might force to ask emails , pretending that they will just do something to help you
5. links that might steal critical information for cards and bank accounts

This is happening local and abroad because of the current situation that we are in especially with the pandemic where in some are desperate to earn
money for their family so be very careful, if you encounter this kind of tactics or scheme just blocked or ignore them.
This is to help newcomers avoid being scam.
I hope this helps.

Sending public key is very wrong especially, if it is a master public key, sending private key will only lead to scam, sending email can only lead to more (email) phishing attack. Click on any link is dangerous, it can be malware line, it can be an unsecure link that can steal information from someone. People that are very careful of their privacy will not fall for this scam, but most people in the world do not even know there is anything called online privacy as I was did not.

One thing most users must understand that, you always put yourself in the way for scammers. It's not magic, they don't just get your details by 'voodoo'. You've got the keys to the doorway and they've got the tools to operate with.
Scammers project for you want you want in the easiest way possible and what gets you out of they doorway or give up you key is your respiration to make it big and in no time too. I call it greed. Greed is good as it multivates you to aim higher but, when it's not in check, you become vulnerable.

* You become carefree on clicking any links which could be a malware or phishing links,
*Your too quick to give up your email less you miss a supposed opportunity and then, you eventually get phished
*You go as far as violating the single private key rule of letting your private key stay private and you
*You send coins to which ever address without a proper knowledge of the platform and get played.

It's been happening and still would should users not put their greed in check. Your never too experienced to be vulnerable.

These are the common things asking by the scammer also you can try to visit our scam and accusations because there are a lot of platforms that are scamming too the same with their support. There are different kinds of actions taken by scammers.
Those are the common questions that happen.

It's quite suspicious if you are a scammer and you will ask their email because what's the reason for it. Also, one of the suspicious things if you are trying to go ask also the mobile number too because mostly the emails are connected with the mobile phone number.

Actually, I have encountered it. I have once received a message from an unknown telegram account that offers a so-called good opportunity to earn during the pandemic. It asks to give a certain amount of money and some personal information for the registration, he even said that the process is easy and surely profitable. But the good thing is I am completely aware that it's a scam, so I just ignored it and report the account. This is the reason why having a piece of knowledge about the common scams is an advantage because it is easy for you to distinguish which offer to avoid and accept. We must be aware scammers won't miss any circumstance to deceive and steal from people.

All of scam attacks are not new. Only new groups of scammers, new scam companies and new victims.

About scam, please check a topic of mine: Collection of comprehensive guides on identify and avoid scam projects. It is a collection of topics in which you will find from generic guides to some scam projects that are mentioned. Look at scam detective methods and some example scams.

If that is their strategy, it is very keen and detailed that they are asking information.

No one should give those important information if they ask especially the private keys and passwords.

That is an obvious scam like giving your bank account details willingly.

I recently came across a post in this forum wherein scammers are sending emails and asking for Bitcoin in payment if the user does not want their email address to be hacked.

Another scam that I read in a different forum is of UNI token airdrop where people are getting lured into scam website claiming to give them 400 UNI token airdrops.

Every day scammers are improvising their scamming tactics, if you are not aware of them then you will fall in their trap. It is better to stay updated about these scams and avoid any free offers.

this is actually the obvious type of scam and it is not the most common way of ripping beginnings off.
the most common scam cases involve "investment" type scams that they fool newcomers into handing over their money to them by things such as:
- promise of huge returns as simple investment plans (eg. investment sites)
- promise of fixed profit in their Ponzi scheme usually cloud mining
- promise of huge returns from their project when it moons, replaces bitcoin, etc. (eg. any altcoin that has ever been pumped and all ICO, IEO, STO, DEFI,... tokens).

Perhaps all the tricks of the scammers succeed if they meet Newbies or very stupid people. Who among the old participants here will believe that some kind of "kind" person suddenly decided to teach everyone how to make quick money on the Internet? There is a rule that says that only those who have nothing will tell you how to make money quickly.
These scams will continue to happen as long as people are so naive and gullible.

But, fortunately, beginners fall for such tricks, and they, as a rule, always have empty wallets. Perhaps someone will draw conclusions and learn from their mistakes, and if not, then the lessons will be repeated regularly.

Telegram is notoriously known for this kind of tactics, you will received some unsolicited message from someone, a simply hi and if you reply then the conversation started. So I immediately block those people and never talk to them again. And with the pandemic still around, I'm sure scammers are going to take advantage of every unsuspecting victims. The best weapon for this kind of modus is not to answer them. And "if it's too good to be true it probably is". Don't let your guard down every time here in crypto.

Sending public key is very wrong

Publishing the public key is not a problem. It is called public key for a reason.
Once you have made a transaction from an address, your public key gets publicly known anyway. It's neither an security nor an privacy issue.

Only the master public key can pose some security and privacy risks when exposed.

sending private key will only lead to scam

As the name says, a private key should always stay private.

sending email can only lead to more (email) phishing attack

Not necessarily. There are situations where you kind of need to share your email address.
Using multiple addresses for different things is recommended.

Receiving phishing mails itself is not the problem. Falling for them is. Being cautious is the key here.

People that are very careful of their privacy will not fall for this scam

There is a difference between privacy (giving away personal information / keeping it private) and security (protection against theft / malicious adversaries).

My advice for you is to always be suspicious when someone contacts you asking for something. In this space people very rarely say hallo or congratulate you. They always want something.

They will send you a ling, ask you to use their referral code, ask you for merit, your email to send you some ads, offer to pay you for something, there's always "a deal" of some sort.

Even when it looks like they don't have a deal to make there is one just not an obvious one.

Don't engage in private conversations with random people who want to be your friends or have some great offers for you Wink

Let me remind everyone that more often than not these kinds of sensitive information are not asked directly but they are asked in a form of illusion aka phishing emails, sites, and even compromised versions of hardware wallets and softwares. These hackers want you think that what you are using is the official version or site but some emails and notices are a scam and what they just want to happen is to fool you on giving up your information so that they can hack your real accounts and wallets. Aside from phishing attempts various fake wallets exists that are made easily to be downloaded in the web and even in the app stores of both Google and Apple, they fake wallets only needs you to input your private keys in order to steal everything out from your wallet.

Now I see why the frequency of scam topics would never stop and it's not bad untill they are completely eradicated which is very unlikely. Well, one thing we all must know about scams, scammers and their schemes is that,
It's always us that gives the 'go' on a silver platter, either knowingly or unknowingly.
Knowingly as per giving off our details in a bid of trust to personnels we don't know easily and
Unknowingly through phishing sites/platforms and clicking malware coded links.
Let's watch our activities rather closely.

That was very usual. Actually such modus was a no brainer so I wonder  why many investors are still getting scammed. Because if you will realize, your personal info is vital so why would you easily give it to people you only met online? It doesn't makes sense for me. Everyone should able to think of it despite of any status you have, whether you are a beginner or not your gut feel could tell if there is something wrong happening or not.

But I guess you're right. Like what you've said, I guess the main reason for all of it is desperation. People tend to forget the simple logics after hearing flowery words from the scammers. I hope all of us learn that not everything that smells good tastes good as well Undecided.

Sending anything to other people that you don't know is really risky and shouldn't be done for your wallet to become secured and safe.

Most of the newbies are easy to trust someone even if they don't know them personally, especially that scammers pretend to know everything about bitcoin. Scamming always happens in a popular platforms like twitter, youtube, google, and etc. Using other people's identity especially those famous ones, for example, Elon Musk. He is the most commonly used popularity for scam and fake giveaways.

So in order to prevent that, never send any information or details to other people first. Don't be blinded by money because it can take everything from you.

If someone ask any conditions especially asking for information, private keys, funds or any valuable to us is a big red flag, legit platforms don't ask that if they conduct a giveaways or sort of promotion. And we should really avoid those possible scams if they promise a good return since its to good to be true. If we see any of those on social media better report it and leave.

I write a thread about those existing scam tactics made by scammers and other forum members post some nice stuffs to help newbie avoid those potential scams.

Visit my thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240682.msg54226236#msg54226236

If anyone could add any new ways to scam people will add to the trade to make it updated.
