As I know most of the tokens supply will be used to reward members for activity and most of the tokens are still in the initial member's hands. Trading volume is quite low at this moment and not many people are selling tokens. I think more transparency really required here, it will help newcomers to understand tokenomics.

Is not it the tokenomics should have already published before the creation of the TON crystal? If there's no tokenomic and we didn't know actually who has been holding a lot of ton crystal at this moment and how much TON crystal has allocated for the community reward. Ton looks like less transparent than what i have been thinking before. hmmmmmm

Open the guide to read. It is as safe as any other exchange, if you trust exchange you can use it, if not - don't use it. Chatex is the official service and they protect you during the trading. I personally used chatex to create this guide and didn't faced any issues during process. I successfully sold some TON Crystals and withdrew my btc. Trust or not it's up to you, no one can guarantee you safety, I'm the same user as you, not an exchange owner.

the hesitation is understandable as a lot experienced some sort of screw up in telegram channel. so with the telegram exchange, which is not the usual way of trading, people will have hesitation. i, for one, is not also comfortable with this method. but if you have the opportunity to use it, why not? and check for yourself how reliable it is.
but of course, you should always secure your funds after the trading. send your coins to your own wallet.

If you are still feeling doubt about that and you can try to sell a small part from your total tokens.
As far as I know, chatex owner has already provided a proposal to be worked together with the freeton community and you can also see the proposal that has already created by the chatex owner.

Just try to see the review from the telegram community and then when there were so many people saying that's legit and just try that. It's quite better rather than use the CEX that was putting the KYC as mandatory for the participants.
Try to sell the small number of tokens to be used as a test to make sure that's legit.
In this case, I believe with what bubbalex's said above and he has made the right point about that.

You understand it wrong. It's not an exchange from the Free TON, it's a custodial exchange unrelated to the Free TON, they just listed it among other currencies, like BTC, ETH, LTC, etc. This exchange not created in order to trade TON Crystal tokens only and it's not a group - it's a bot, everything is almost automatic and quite similar to the regular exchange. Open the bot itself or the guide article to understand more.

It wasn't created for the trading of TON alone. It is a custodian exchange, I don't know who the admin is. But it's quiet transparent as KYC is required in some transactions. You will have to verify your phone number before trading on the exchange. At least it is better than depositing into Coineal and wouldn't be able to trade or withdraw.

Do you guys think this project has a chance of success? I believed that when it was an official launch from Pavel Durov's team, it would definitely be a success ... But the ban of SEC changed the situation. I'm not sure if this Free TON project should be considered as an independent market participant.
