What happened: Recently I am seeing some user falls into some greedy offers and losing money by some site's banner adds. For example,
1. I got scammed in btc i can get refund in any way sir ? Plz help ):
2. bit-exchange.top Scammed me - Stay Safe

Basically, people can find these ads from faucet sites. And there are some faucet site which contains these ads are promoting here in bitcointalk by user Get-Paid.com. I alredy posted about it on a thread which is created by Get-Paid.com here But did not get any response from them. For that, I am willing to create this topic to get some suggestions/opinions how actually it worth to promote in this forum. I am not saying that Get-Paid.com is directly involved in these scam ads.

The faucet which contains these scam ads and promoting here by Get-Paid.com

1. FreeBitcoin.io - BTC Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Com, INSTANT Withdrawals
2. FreeEthereum.com - ETH Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Com, INSTANT W/Ds
3. FreeUSDCoin.com - USDC Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Comm, INSTANT W/D
4. FreeTether.com - Tether Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Comm, INSTANT W/D
5. Free-Tron.com - TRX Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Com, INSTANT Withdrawals
6. FreeBinanceCoin.com - BNB Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Comm, INSTANT W/D
7. Free Steam Every Hour + 50% Referral Commission
8. FreeCardano.com - ADA Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Com, INSTANT Withdrawals
9. FreeNEM.com - NEM Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Comm, INSTANT Withdrawals
10. FreeNEO.io - NEO Faucet, Claim Every Hour, 50% Ref Comm, INSTANT W/D

Ads sample: Most of the faucet's ads are the same. So I just mentioned here one of them.

Here you can see an add of the site https://advancedtrader.top/
by which user surajsun was scammed what I already mentioned above.

To know how advancedtrader.top works and scamming people by greedy offer see below quoted post.

I have something to say about these free (bitcoin,tron,carnado......etc) sites.

I have noticed there are some ads on free-tron.com footer page. You may take a look at the archive. https://archive.fo/YnDlA

So the adds redirected to https://advancedtrader.top/ archive : https://archive.fo/wip/iDpqK

where there is a way to earn 0.06 BTC ($700+) Daily. The question is how? right. lets visit the site and read or see these screenshots.

There is also a video on the site how to claim this 700$.

You can see in the screenshot that they are saying to exchange BTC to ETH through https://convolution.live/ site.  archive: https://archive.fo/wip/kyubp

You can see the rate of BTC/ETH. 1 Bitcoin= 53 ETH where the normal rate according to recent market is 1 bitcoin= 28.17952065 ETH.

You may find this adds on these sites that is managing by the Get-Paid.com maybe. Not sure for all sites. But free tron, free bitcoin are managing by him/her since they launched ann thread in this forum.

Code:
1. https://free-tron.com/
2. https://freesteam.io/
3. https://freetether.com/
4. https://freeusdcoin.com/
5. https://freebinancecoin.com/
6. https://freeethereum.com/
7. https://freedash.io/
8. https://freechain.link/
9. https://freeneo.io/
10. https://freebitcoin.io/
.................

Now my questions are
1. How https://convolution.live can give you a double rate?
2. who is the behind of these all things?

Maybe the user Get-Paid.com can explain all things here.

Now my question to this community. Is actually have any worth of promoting these faucet sites here in this forum which contains the 10000% scam ads?
Where we are so strick to barier even ponzi scheme promoter then how can a 100% scam ads cointains site promote here? Is it reportable to mod? I am happy to hear constructive discussion and you opinions about it. Thank you all.

Now my question to this community. Is actually have any worth of promoting these faucet sites here in this forum which contains the 10000% scam ads?

since my first days claiming on faucets I have always seen this type of advertising, I don't know if faucet owners can prevent this type of advertising from appearing on the site, but on the forum I don't see why the forum would have to ban these faucets since they are not breaking the forum rules

Where we are so strick to barier even ponzi scheme promoter then how can a 100% scam ads cointains site promote here? Is it reportable to mod? I am happy to hear constructive discussion and you opinions about it. Thank you all.

in the forum has this:

Investor-based games

Warning: You are in the Gambling section. You are likely to eventually lose any money that you gamble/"invest". Additionally, moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Do not gamble more than you can afford to lose.

and I think it's not reportable to moderators

Most crypto platforms are using multiple platforms banner space to attract potential customers, Every project have their specific advertisement budget and only few can bear the expense of advertiser like Coinzilla. Even professional advertisers never allow ponzi, MLM, Hyips and other money stealing platforms to use their service. So in a situation like this they are looking for other advertisers who have less restrictions or don't hesitate to allow scam projects to use their banner space. Basically future of this type of advertising sites totally depend on their site visitors and i am damn sure that by following a banner ad from their website if anyone get scammed he will definitely left the website forever.

Interesting part is that suppose advertiser platform is "XXX" and some group of scammers are running a platform named "YYY". "YYY" will use the service of advertiser platform "XXX" and in the meantime "XXX" is accepting their banner ads on their platform. So as a visitor whenever you are visiting "XXX" and clicking on a banner which redirecting you to "YYY". Whenever you are seeing greedy profit plans you are making investment there and after getting scammed you are opening scam accusation against "YYY".

So I have multiple question here;

  • Who is liable for the scam?
  • Who is creating opportunities for scam projects?
  • Who is allowing diverting crypto investors to scam hole?

From my above description I tried to let everyone know that "XXX" is setting up the scam plot and allowing scammers to advertise on their website. Which means they are not different from scammers but doing their activities in different style. You can't directly call them scammers because they have some wonderful rules about advertisement and you will find a common line on their Ad policy that " We are not liable for your losses, Invest at your own risk"

Now lets discuss about get-paid.com. They are promoting faucets who are allowing some rare Cheesy ads on their platform.

So do I have to explain again OP? Smiley or you have already got my point.

It's best for: @Get-Paid.com, No, do it again and stop promoting faucet ads, if in my opinion the answer to: @Get-Paid.com is as answered below.

as Faucets are the basic thing which tell bitcoin newbies what actually bitcoin is .. I think they should not scam .. because people will loose interest in Bitcoins .. So I created this Topic and I will update it daily...

Before the victims of fraud increase, especially for beginners, this is very fatal if it continues.

Accusation after accusation against faucet advertising continues as is the case below.

1. Topic: Scam/suspicious/clones faucets to avoid
2. Topic: [SCAM] Fake Faucet - BTCFAUCET.COM
3. Topic: Scam faucets
4. Topic: CoinOOF Faucet - Scam?
5. Topic: Scammer: CoinFast.win Faucet doesn't pay

Perhaps, much more of the same going on in this forum about faucets is a scam.

In my opinion the faucet site should be stopped before the number of victims increases and this is for the dignity of Bitcoin and the Bitcointalk forums in the future.

Report to moderators? I have a hard time understanding if you have lost your memory. Everyone knows that scam isn't moderated by the forum. So usually moderators can't do anything. Hadn't you seen 1xbit banner ads on the forum just a few days back? Who doesn't know that is the scam website? But still, admin approved their ads. We can't expect from admins or moderators to prevent scams since it hasn't been moderated due to prevent moderation abuse.

So many scam sites have been advertising on Google, what we can do? Nothing except make an awareness. Faucet sites advertising scam, it's nothing new. But we don't like to see them on the forum. Also who are advertising scams we hate them, but I don't think it's reasonable to punish them since directly they aren't promoting scam on the forum. Such scams would prevent just controlling your greed. No one will always remind you this is a scam or this isn't a scam. Many scam exchanges were promoted on the forum, we weren't succeeding to prevent them.

I would like to suggest Faucet owners, just add a warning with the disclaimer at least that there would be a risk when you are investing in any third party site linked to this website. But I know it wouldn't possible since their clients will not like such as warning and they might avoid advertising there. So the only way prevents scam to create awareness.

Actually, in that particular case, theymos didn't know about the scam accusations against 1xbit and someone else made the bid on behalf of them. But when Royse777 brought it to his attention, he decided to remove their banner and offered to donate the seized money to charity.
Still, scams aren't moderated and don't expect mods to remove such topics.

Before the victims of fraud increase, especially for beginners, this is very fatal if it continues.

Accusation after accusation against faucet advertising continues as is the case below.
.

Faucet industry is very cheap, tiny profit is here, therefore all the pages are of very poor design crowded with ads. To convert high traffic into profit, owners usually post everything that they find. When you have a lot of different ads from different sources, it’s hard to follow them all and whether they are all still relevant.

It's been a long time now when I am running faucet on my own, also set up a few faucets for other members, and I know a little of the problem here. I'm not trying to defend any faucet service here I still think they are good for newcomers to cryptocurrencies just to understand how it works. They helped me introduce some people to basic terms like "what is BTC address", "how to check my balance", "how to send/receive" "TX id" etc...

Faucet in his basic can't scam anyone except for some end user's time. Faucet claimers do not invest money in them, it's just a claiming "free" Bitcoins. As for security reasons, rarely anyone leaves many coins in faucet wallets, It's very easy for the owner to have his faucet empty.

I was pretty surprised when noticing that once with a solid reputation Mellow ads advertising network now accepting obvious scammers. I am talked about that Mellow ads accept advertisements from Bitcoin doubler websites
In a case like this, the ad network bears the blame because they accepted the suspect's offers, faucet owners are also a victim here viewed from this angle.

On topic
I think all these pages are the property of the same person, very likely owned by @Get-Paid.com why I was convinced that this was another account of @game-protect
It hosts all of them on the same server with one IP 138.201.30.72. (it hosts 13 websites there)
Code:

I checked freebitcoin.io and when try to click on "Bitcoin" on top menu and any other first click on page, redirect me to suspicious content. My antivirus blocked this page.

Faucets are ideal platforms for all the bad things that can be found on the internet, as they are used by beginners who are easy targets. Everyone should know what dangers are hidden on such sites and that one should refrain from clicking on advertisements. However, what is even more dangerous than the ads themselves are redirects to sites with various dangerous content, and there are also various mining scripts that use user CPU and fake browser history injections.

Because of all this, I have always warned faucet users to be extremely careful because they can lose a lot more than they gain. But it's not just faucets that advertise scam, it's on other various crypto-related sites that serve similar content, because this whole industry actually revolves around selling false promises to naive people who want success overnight.

Thank you all who replied here to describe all things about how actually a faucet works. To be honest I was not much familiar with how a faucet works. And I also want to inform you that I did not lose any money into this obvious scam. Even I can not imagine it could be legit. So it's so far to lose money. But when I first visit the site and see the ads I curiously visit and see it's an obvious scam. And started to think this is being promoted on the forum and maybe the newbies can fall into these scams. For that, I decided to create this topic to know more about it and know the unknown person so that they could be aware of it.
Sometimes I saw some reputed members in this forum warn the gambling reviews site due to they reviewed some site which has open scam accusation here. So it likely the same I think. Both are not directly scammer but they are doing something so that scammer can do scam.

Btw since we can not report them to mod then do somethings so that newbies don't fall into this. So warn on these threads where you can see. Thanks again who replied here.Smiley

Today is very common to read the statement "If it's free then you are the product". This applies basically to everything on the Internet. Scams have always been around: when there was no Internet they came by the old fashioned mail (a letter from some of your forgotten relatives who died leaving you a fortune but not before you would send some money in an envelop to Dr. Lucius Lawyer & co. is a classic).
Back to faucets and threats online I have a few tips which have been working very well so far:
  • Make sure you are protected at DNS level (this way most of malicious sites will be blocked before even connecting, I suggest Cloudflare, OpenDNS, DNS Watch, etc.)
  • Make sure you browse the web either via TOR/VPN or with a full protected browser with no scripts, ads and such
  • Don't spend time on faucets  Wink

Then you are lucky enough and definitely your level of greediness is comparatively lower than immature investors which kept you far from useless investment. Sorry to say that they don't bother what people are talking about them. All they need is just some easy money and they don't care from where its coming actually. I don't think anyone can change their fraudulent activities where increasing awareness among newbies is the only visible solution.

Sometimes I saw some reputed members in this forum warn the gambling reviews site due to they reviewed some site which has open scam accusation here. So it likely the same I think. Both are not directly scammer but they are doing something so that scammer can do scam.
Accomplishing scam or helping scammers to continue their scam is likely same. Just the difference is scammers are taking fund directly from investors but dishonest advertiser platforms are taking money from scammers and allowing them to spread their scam trap among wide range of potential customers.

Btw since we can not report them to mod then do somethings so that newbies don't fall into this. So warn on these threads where you can see. Thanks again who replied here.Smiley

Don't want to repeat what was already said, but you probably can find such ads on 99.5% faucets and these that you mentioned aren't exceptional. Offcourse, on many advertising networks for website owner it's possible to disable such ads with investment offers, gambling or NSFW content. But in such way they would lose most of revenue and would be forced to close website.
But even on Google Ads you can find scams advertised, but owner of website isn't responsible for content of ads. Here on Bitcointalk theymos put warning under every ads slot, I think it would be good if owners of other websites would do same:
Quote
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction

And there is another problem. Obviously, majority of faucet users is newbies without any knowledge, experience and skills. They are looking for easy ways how to make money and they often not aware about risk of scams. So, they can easy fall into ponzi scheme scam which offer big returns. Scammers aren't stupid and they wre targeting these people.

The above about sum up my opinions based on what I understand of this thread--scammers are gonna scam, and they're going to be trying to do it everywhere they can.  Unfortunately that also includes faucets.  I think most people grow out of using faucets early on when they get into bitcoin, but it's in that early stage when they're ignorant about a lot of things that they're the most vulnerable.

That example given almost looked like an arbitrage trade, and those aren't scams--except by the time you get around to advertising an arbitrage opportunity, it's already gone.  Therefore it most certainly has to be a scam, not to mention that the referral to a specific exchange is very sketchy in itself.

I get that there's a problem, but I'm a pessimist as far as thinking it's going to get solved.  Faucets aren't motivated to vet every "business" that wants to advertise on their site, just like CMC and Coingecko aren't motivated to verify trading volume and all the other exchange stats.

Exactly, we can't do much more than allow people, and especially bitcoin beginners and newbies, to grow their awareness on the subject. Our forum is a super informative knowledge-base for those who really want to start from scratch and learn the basics of bitcoin avoiding to get ripped off by some bitconnect, HYIP, faucet shady business, cloud mining etc. I guess we should also be more effective as soon as we spot any scammy/shady website which want to leverage those who are not familiar with our world. For us it's easy to say this because we have seen a lot of shit during the years but I greatly think that starting a journey in crypto today is very much full of dangers.

Since no one mentioned it, people should realize that Get-Paid.com uses A-ADS (alternative google Ads), so Get-Paid.com have no control what kind of ads is seen by it's users.
I will correct you. On A-Ads it's possible to filter ads:

So, you can disable such kind of shady ads, but it would lead to complete lose of revenue. And probably even after you disable such ads, some shady ads still will be displayed because I doubt that A-Ads check ads very strictly before aproving it.

If someone decide to blame Get-Paid.com, they should blame A-ADS, google ads and all advertising service as well for showing scam ad.

What definitely fails in this case is the control of the content that is released into circulation, and when it comes to Google I would dare to say that they are the company responsible for a huge amount of internet scams through their Google AdWords platform. All of them together only aim to make as much profit as possible, collateral victims are not in their focus - nothing changes even when they pay rather large fines.

In order to have a faucet, you need to accept that you will be forced to show ads to your users with very questionable content in order to keep it operational. But this is practically the only way to monetize such a website, because the times when faucets distributed crypto just for the purpose of promoting it are long gone.

A-ADS have their official announcement on bitcointalk.
Here it is; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140822

I have already sent a PM to them and let's see what explanation they got for us.

Most likely, there are many kinds of shady ads that isn't part of filter such as shady exchange, cryptocurrency wallet and mixers.
From my experience i can tell that 2 years earlier it wasn’t  so easy to pass the filter process of google adwords but i am not sure about recent situation. Recently i have seen some scam giveaway and fake airdrop related video ads on youtube and it seems to me that scammers are easily getting approval for their ads.

Thanks for contacting us, let me clarify on this.

As @LTU_btc said, publishers configure what kind of ads they allow on their sites and they can ban any ad anytime.

Our moderators check the ads before activation and either ban them, or activate and tag them accordingly.

We do our best to prevent scammers from advertising, but sometimes there is just no sufficient reason to reject the ad. Moreover, we can't control the content of advertisers' sites and their redirections, which may change after the ad is activated.

When we get trustworthy and convincing scam report, we ban the ad. For some reason I don't see the ad of `advancedtrader.top` in our database, perhaps it has been edited or deleted by the advertiser.
