Soooooo, has a topic been made on this yet? Is it possible to use a coronavirus app without sharing my location with Google?

There is no reason I see why it should be taking my location to function. A mere Bluetooth ping with an ID would be all that should be required but for some reason they seem to want the extra data?

Why don't you just search "<city> coronavirus" on Google/DuckDuckGo while using Tor or a VPN? They will only know someone from a random country is looking for that info.

When I do on both Google and duckduckgo I get:
GSK/banking/police staff told to turn off app while working.
And guides on how to use it.

I was looking through the reviews on Google and no one seemed to have a fix for it either.

I'm just getting to know of the existence of this coronavirus app just and I'm still surprised as to it's necessity or why it was created. A mean, even in rural villages were the major electronic device might seem to be the transistor radios (Just exaggerating though) they still managed to get the news on the Covid19 pandemic, are aware of it's guidelines and regulations, mode of transmission and effects. So what really necessitates the creation of this app?
Hearing that it uses location is just another awkward and phishing thing about it. Perhaps based on the frequent specific information accessed on the platform, they could be able to determine if your an infected someone and has refused to come up to law enforcement agencies and so, they could just track you done with the app. That's just my guess though but, with all the informations on Google of the pandemic, I still see the app to be needless.

Yeah I just left it idle without any permissions...

It doesn't clock anyone unless you're within 2 metres of them for more than 15 minutes (and I don't think I'll end up like that where I don't know the person anytime soon).

I found a big list of Covid tracker not apps for mobile phone but you can browse it with phone and I think it doesn't need to enable location.

Here's the list.
