Well, 10th anniversary art contest was something crazy. Many members showed how creative they are and created amazing artworks. On the other hand, there was so much shit and abuse. Nothing surprising, people were attracted by easy opportunity to get merit. And I'm actually not sure that theymos was happy that he made so much work for himself. I think it wasn't easy to get through all works and award so many merit
11th Bitcointalk birthday probably should be celebrated too somehow, but obviously not as big as 10th. IMO, repeating such contest again would be boring, we need something new. Maybe it's too early, but we can start to think how 15th or 20th anniversary should be celebrated .

I wonder if theymos will ever come up with the same idea from the last year's "10th anniversary art contest" ? Well, a decade is something to celebrate for, I just want to reminisce how we've seen such talented forum members during that event and it's been year now.

If this kind of art contest will be established by Theymos it would have happened by now and I presume it will be another 10years before we can this kind of art contest happening again on the forum. Besides, not even this time that the was said to be in need of some fund a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, I remember that vividly--submissions were coming out of the woodwork by members who were obviously NOT qualified to submit any artwork to a contest, but that was only after they'd seen how generous Theymos was being with the merit distribution.  That's if I remember that part correctly, because I stopped following that thread after about 3 pages or so.

But I never objected to all that merit he sent out.  He certainly had accumulated a massive number of sMerits by that point, and I don't often see Theymos giving out a lot of merits. 

That was the 10 year celebration, and it was a nice landmark number and represented a decade of the forum being in existence.  I don't think we need yearly celebrations by any means.  Just my own little opinion, though.

Poor theymos, every time we expect something to be done, why not the community to create something and surprise him instead this time.
I think that would be cooler, he also deserves to have some fun and entertainment after all the hard work he has done for the forum.

Yea, same opinion. Giving chances to people isn't really that bad in terms of affecting the forum's content quality when done rarely, but doing it every year is probably going to have a bad effect. People would just be waiting for Bitcointalk's anniversaries if that was the case lol.

That is theymos benchmark to drive massive amounts of sMerit(9991 total merit) to all the participants. The 10th year anniversary promotion given users the chance to win BTC awards as well. I would say it's consistently one of the most impressive techniques and I don't never mind being held Bitcointalk.org anniversary by theymos once again.

The art competition showed how many talented people are among us. It was exciting. Many participants were able to raise their ranks, and someone tried to organize their own business, showing their art.
Today there is a lot of negative news in connection with the pandemic that has fallen on the world. A lot of people are depressed. I think by creating such contests, we will be able to escape from these negatives, as well as please ourselves and our friends with whom we communicate on the forum.
I think a comic book competition on the vital problems of the forum would raise the spirits of many.

Yeah, maybe something like meme focus contest, haikyu, poem, COVID vaccine (lol) etc., whatever theymos could think up but I agree it should be new and more exciting if ever he decides there will be another one.

Maybe something like quinquennial celebration would be nice but something like a decade is really a especial one to celebrate for.

To be honest, that particular event of bitcoin and merit spree inspired me to pursue making digital drawings other than doing traditional artworks. It was that moment when someone posted a digital artwork of 10th Bitcointalk Anniversary contest with a spooky/ cyberpunk theme. If my mind serves me right, the artist was @1Dq.

Well, instead of waiting another decade, Roobet is currently having their 4th Art Contest with various catergories to choose from -- I see it as another alternative though.

I don't think that the idea will be the same. As we know, everything needs something fresh every year here. So, why should be similar to the previous anniversary? Moreover, it was for the 10th anniversary, it may be so different from what happened to the 11th, 12., and other anniversaries.

However, I am also actually curious about what will happen and I really don't want to miss this anniversary as what I did previously. Let's wait for it and probably if we have any ideas, we can share each other here.

If I was artistically blessed, I'd definitely take advantage of that opportunity and just sell the earned ETH for more BTC.

Yeah agreed. Its better if there are new theme or contest if ever theymos launch something on thr anniversary. But its still okay if its an art contest, Im sure it will be swarm by a lot since then some followed the art contest like roobet did.

I don't really have any idea of how NFT's work..but yeah I am selling commissioned digital and traditional artwork as advertised in the Marketplace Section to pay for my tuition fees.

Selling digital artwork might look like pointless in other people's perspective especially if it's just a drawing of some sort of anime or iconic figures since they can be easily reproduced. However, nowadays there is a free licensing agreement which you can use to limit the buyers rights on how they are going to use your personal artwork. Also, I am selling commissioned portrait commonly of their loved ones so getting a free licensing agreement is not an issue.

If I was artistically blessed, I'd definitely take advantage of that opportunity and just sell the earned ETH for more BTC.

I must admit that anniversary contest was fun (I also participated with two submissions)  but having it organized that way every year would somehow diminish its value. Maybe best to stick to every 10 years or so.

After all, we don't necessarily have to wait for theymos to start contest and give out BTC in order to celebrate each anniversary. If someone starts anniversary topic, I'm sure people will start sharing their work, we can vote on best ones etc. Same goes for other important dates like May 22nd and Bitcoin Pizza Day.

That was my first merits after my hiatus from this forum.
It means a lot for me because I got my excitement back on this forum.

We should find a reason why “11” is so special and so bitcoin. So the BTT 11th anniversary will be happen.

Having annual celebration of bitcointalk forum will be fantastic. This forum needs to be celebrated yearly. It has come long way by uniting as one in cryptosphere up till this very moment.
Let's assume that the covid-19 stopped us from celebrating it. Hopefully by next year, it will be celebrated
