Today I have looking for mempool loading (https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h), and seen this picture, how can it be? I can't believe, looks like Bitcoin's network stops for a some time at all! Any ideas what it was?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

My guess is that the node used to collect the data was restarted.

In this case, we would see an even dip on the chart, but we see that it has steep, but still gentle edges. It is very interesting what it was, maybe someone has information from other similar sites?

The charting tool draws straight lines between datapoints, and after restarting the node refilled over time (presumably it's been modified to use the mempool p2p message to do so).

Please don't confuse some guys random node for the operation of the network.
