The Philippines has allowed land-based casinos to accept bets online, in a move that could help operators mitigate losses from the pandemic. Gaming stocks rose.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. has approved the applications of Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila, and Okada Manila for betting through the Internet, president Alfredo Lim said in mobile-phone messages.

The Philippine government made some changes in response to the lockdown, as they approved land based casino's to accept online bet. I'm not really sure how this could be implemented though, but this is a good news for Filipino. I myself received a text message from one of them, City of Dreams, that their casino are already open and you can play and bring one companion. But I haven't try it though, I don't want to take risks, but it they allowed to accepts bets online then it will be good.

I think this has been already happening for a long time and its not just City of Dreams that is doing this. Solaire's Resort and Casino also did this at the start of the lock down so that they could still have customers even though it was slightly prohibited but then they thought that the company still needed its income so that prohibition was lifted. There are also a lot of offshore betting happening currently in the Philippines and that is another news for tax evasions.

Land based casinos must also adopt the new normal and its good that they allow those casinos to operate digitally as well. Anyway, I don’t know why but I didn’t received any update from the City of Dreams, well I’m going to visit some casino this weekend and I’m going to try how they implement the health protocols and hopefully to get some ideas about this online betting.

I think they already did that, they already implementing it, it seems that these casinos can be the answer to some funds we need especially this pandemic and consecutive typhoons we encounter, we all know that they are paying for tax too, so let us think and look to the brighter side, if they allow land based casinos to go online, it is a big step for innovation and improvement of our payment system in here.

Casino's could be just one of the solution, but not the answer per se, if the Philippine economy wanted to have a head start then maybe casino should be one of the factor that can help out and then businesses operating at half will also be good. My only concern would be the implementation of this online-based system of gambling. Due to its nature, people would most likely attempt to "cheat" the system. Another thing, I also do hope that the customer service would be active and participative. Problems regarding withdrawals and deposits should be addressed clearly and in a systematic manner to avoid confusion.

Though there may be some potential problems, this is a good step for both these businesses and for the revenue since it provides an alternative way of earning taxes.

This is great, but if its fiat then i wouldn't be able to play, because all my money is inside my crypto online web wallet. I'm just used into playing with crypto because i can direct it to my online income streams, if ever i get profits from playing online gambling. Yes, bitcoin will be useful as I had stated in my other reply that whenever a gambler wanted to have a privacy or away from the good for nothing speculator that like to witness every big bets visible by the use of the chips as token in betting. There is no 100% shield against the virus so they came up to the point that online betting should be considered. Currently, PH casinos are now allowed to open with limited capacity so that's a good idea to somehow accommodate more users.
