I do not know how many people were around during the period 2014 to 2017 and even prior to that, but if you were around back then, you would have noticed something incredible on this forum.

The whole forum was buzzing with new and innovative Crypto currency projects and a feeling of excitement was in the air. There was an overall positive energy and people just thrived in this space.  Wink

Now I know some of these projects was linked to scam ICO's and Ponzi schemes, but a lot of them was also legit projects with huge potential.

We need to do something to bring back the excitement and the innovation and I think the latest spike in the price should help with that.

Let's brainstorm a bit and inject some positive vibes into the community to light the spark to bring back the fire that we had back then. (Developers and the community should unite and join hands to determine the needs and then to fund some exciting new projects to bring back the glory days)

Covid-19 forced people to work from home and this should create unique opportunities for people to find new ways to work. It also created higher unemployment, because a lot of businesses could not adopt and they had to close down. We need Crypto projects that will solve these problems and also create new job opportunities for people to earn an income from home.

Let's see if we can be part of the solution to solve the new challenges that this epidemic has brought to our lives and the global economy.  Wink

Edit : Merit points will be awarded for positive and constructive contributions to this thread. (based on my judgement of these posts)

There are some innovations introduced todays that are merely unavailable during that time. 2014 to 2017 have not much traction and only few tech are clearly visible.

I think the excitement that being build now is due to hype of relevant news and upgrade in the blockchain tech. But lets be honest, we can noticed it around ethereum network more rather than bitcoin tech. Im not against bitcoin cause this is a solid tech but its use case are limited compared to eth what can do. ( just exclude the negativity of being used as scam cause it is really out of the control of ethereum)

Linked ICO scam from it is really terrible but if we plan to restrict it then we are going to being centralized. Not all things can be attain for the better its inevitable to have some grounds like using in scam. More or less Im bullish with the crypto development and progress.

There are offers on this forum, and there are still ways people can make use of these forum to earn bitcoin. We just have to face reality, I noticed many people are hear but not hard working, if they are hard working, there are many ways to make bitcoin on this forum. I joined this forum this year, but I am making earning little bitcoin now, and I see you joining campaigns too, there are still few bounties too in altcoin section, and there are more ways to earn on this forum, check the quote below, it is not new to you, but newbies can read it to know that their are opportunities on this forum. The question is, can they be hard working to understand this forum and have some qualities inorder to go for these?

Bitcointalk.org is a very extraordinary forum, unique. Here we are free to interact, communicate and so on as long as we still follow the forum rules. Many are angry, many are happy. The emotions in this forum not only make us smile alone but also make us feel what makes other people feel sad.

Then what exactly is Bitcointalk.org?
From my point of view, Bitcointalk.org has provided everything for everyone with equal opportunity. There are different goals of the members here. But one thing is for sure, Bitcointalk.org is where we work, joke, or even have a career.

Why do I say that Bitcointalk is a career place? This is what I feel, I am only a member with minimal knowledge of technical crypto development. But there is another side that I can achieve from Bitcointalk.

A career journey that can be felt by all members, if you use this forum not only to take part in airdrops and bounties without any consideration about the project and just trapped by scam project promotion to waste your time. Here some career that can achieved by community

1. Become a Community Manager (Freelance, Contract, Full-Time)
One of the careers that you can get in this forum is as a Community Manager (I will call it CM). Those of you who have communication skills can become a CM. There are hundreds of legit projects that you can find from the Announcement Board page or from Services/Services announcement board. From there you can do a project research, look for opportunities, and apply as a CM. The payment also varies, depending on how much you respect yourself.

2. Become a Bounty Manager / Campaign Manager (BM / CM)
A Bounty Manager / Campaign Manager (hereinafter I will call BM), is also one of the jobs that you can make a promising career for you. Just look at how Hhampuz, Murat, Coolcryptovator, DarkStar_ and other top BM are working form campaign a project. Not just one project, they can hold up to 5 projects at once. Isn't this very interesting to be an example that a career as BM is very exciting. Recently I handle some campaign as BM, this is very good experience to be part of the community, you have a same opportunity, just remember follow the rules of the forum, learning, discuss, and sharing. Impossible is nothing to be one of the top member with good reputation to build your "Brand".

3. Become a money lender
Lending money is also like going through a career, you get income from the loans you provide. Even if there are those who offer interest-free, the community still appreciates it by giving something extra. If you are serious about this, you can become a successful lender. For example, OmegaStarScream, DarkStar_, DireWolfM14 and other who doing this services for a long time with lot of customers.

4. Become a professional designer (graphic / website)
Threads, signature campaigns, promotions all require designs to attract members' interest in Bitcointalk. If you don't get the opportunity at freelance website services, try to be more serious about improving your design skills. Thus you can be trusted to be the permanent designer of a project. Or use the service by top BM.

5. Translator or content creator
Lot of project need translator to bring their project going global. You can take this place too. Also you can be a professional content writer to help a project creating content marketing or anything related. This is very good opportunity, you can work from home everyday. And working as you want Smiley

6. Developer
Are you website developer, application developer? You can be a professional and reputable developer here.

7. to much to thinking about the opportunity here , you can find it by your self Grin
There are many careers opportunities that can be achieved by all members in this forum.

END NOTE:
Unfortunately, this opportunity was not taken by the members. Especially the members who just joined Bitcointalk.org. They only think about Airdrops and Bounties which actually don't guarantee an opportunity if they don't do research well, even though doing research doesn't mean it will be 100% successful. However, by choosing to achieve a better career as a freelancer or full-timer, trough Bitcointalk.org. So, are you Newbie. Jr. Member, Member and high rank though, do you still want to continue to chase the something that can be a waste your time only or become a smarter members to see opportunities than just greed for shitcoin?

Let's think about it, and see you when become a better member

Very few ideas end up as a real life case. Bitcoin was one of them but this wont mean that other altcoins are going to be the next.

The buzz that ICOs started after ethereum did pump the market, but you have to understand that unscrupulous people are very much in this sector and being unregulated without any authority they can never be stopped and they ruined what ERC20 token projects could have been.

Same thing happened with DeFi too now, it was there for a long period of time but this hype changed what it was, to simple lending pools and stablecoins.

However I dont blame a pandemic for this. Crisis will happen and we have to deal with it instead of thinking about it and its effects. Accepting and using a change for the better is what most of us fail to do but it is the way to grow.

There has been the recent paypal deal and the market is above all, bullish. But here lies the importance of patience.

I would say there is positive energy now about bitcoin and it's adoption with bullish sentiment growing in the community.
In my opinion, the last ICO hype was a natural occurrence, the novel blockchain tech was getting lots of attention, developers go my interested and so did investors who saw it as a way to profit. This then attracted scammers who saw an opportunity to profit off the greed of others, overall, it was unsustainable and with time fake/poorly developed and scam projects died off or never took off. Attempting to recreate that environment again may not be possible; there were so many scam iICOs that most investors have already given up on crowdfunding all together.

Also, most reputable members here are mostly interested in Bitcoin and may not want to partner to launch a token which may not share the same qualities.

We should work harder to put "checks and balances" in place to highlight scam projects to help investors to determine what projects are legit and which of these projects are scams. Sites like https://badbitcoin.org/ should be widely advertised to prevent a repeat of the mistakes that we made during those times. (ICO's hype)

We should also create more sites like this and fund these projects to keep them relevant and updated. The Bitcointalk.org forum also have child boards dedicated to highlighting possible scams, see : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 for more information.

No system is 100% fool proof, but we can help to provide systems that can assist as guard dogs for these scammers. Crypto currencies are decentralized projects and we need our own decentralized (community based) "Police force" to protect our interests.  Wink

IIRC, there were projects before that are giving rewards for their users like Steem. That's the inspiration of those projects, created a social media that's based on blockchain. But unfortunately, almost all of them didn't find success. Trading is part of this community even until today but accepting the fact that many are getting trouble doing a day trading and losing more. The solution is to get to hold for short term and sell it eventually. Shifting the decision of short term to long term and vice versa will help everyone who wants to earn from that strategy.

Scam projects  and ICOs that were not successfully has really brought the tempo down. The only thing is to create a thread that have projects with potential to succeed after vetting. The criteria might be use cases (relevancy), team experience, marketing strategies, partnership, probability to get listed on good exchanges. For me, any project that have an anonymous team is no-go area for me.  This can be a guide for someone who is interested to join in any capacity after being fully responsible for the outcome

The problem with vetting is this... Who is doing the vetting?

Presumably there are scam sites out there that are creating "review" sites, where fake accounts are used to review their own site. They would then give their sites great reviews and this gives people a false sense of security to trust these sites. (They Google the site and find reference to these sites)

If you want to apply Vetting to sites, you will have to find reputable people to back it. (Example : Well known Exchanges / Wallet providers that are regulated) or alternatively individuals with a good reputation. (Escrow providers or Campaign managers) or Crypto currency influencers. (Example : Andreas Antonopoulos)

I came to the crypto industry in 2017.  It was a very interesting time!  It was a bit like the Wild West (as shown in westerns).

In 2018-2019, we had a bear market.
A new bull run started in 2020.

Can the old atmosphere be brought back?  Is it possible to return the atmosphere of drive and excitement?

I cannot answer this question.

I can give an example of an interesting new project.  Riccardo Spagni (the main ideologist of Monero) develops the Tari project.

https://www.tari.com/

It is a digital asset platform (privacy focused).  Such crypto projects are the future of cryptography.  The crypto industry is not dead.  She's alive.

You can participate in such projects (as a miner, investor or developer).

It is hard to bring back those memorable days. I guess it would just arrive once again after cryptocurrency and the blockchain technology have occupied an important lot in the operations of major businesses in the world.

The disappointment was terrible. The potential was there. The project designs were there. In those years, it seemed as if blockchain and crypto would really conquer the world by storm. But once the projects failed to deliver, it gave a very serious blow to the interest, trust, and promises of crypto projects.

I guess it was a bit premature also. The spike of crypto projects back then came as a huge surprise.

A nostalgic theme...

Ultimately we were all bounty hunters looking for a treasure that everyone would like to discover. Airdrops were natural, supporters were encouraged to spread the word and bring their friends. The Developers believed in a prosperous future and had no mercy in abandoning the project and keeping the amount for themselves. The ICO projects were starting and the decline started with a ban in China, the United States and other governments.

Mining? It was a dream that most would like to fulfill and the magic around it was wonderful. Today there are mining farms that can't even compete, giant mining plants and large mines with great computational power.

I have the slight impression that the crypto was sabotaged and it's worth remembering that it's my opinion.

Development is not as fast as we would like, but often we do not even notice any changes. In any case, we should expect something innovative in the near future.
This point is not clear, is it bitcoin or altcoin? If altcoin, then you are right, but if it is bitcoin, you are not right. A coin with market price of $250 in 2014 now with the price of $16000 today. What development did you want again, tell me any project at that time like bitcoin, no project is successful like bitcoin from 2014 to this time also. That said, bitcoin is also known more to the world and getting more adoption every day, as we are entering more into digital age, let us expect more bitcoin adoption.

Innovations are always coming in. We just need to have a correct attitude to be open to the updates of crypto universe. I mean we can't be too nostalgic, we can't live the present talking only about the past and how great those ICOs were and how much money we could have done with faucets years ago. For me seems that time is already over.
Now we have many updates related to Defi apps that are being developed in real time while we talk here. I think that is the new path towards the future of crypto universe. The possibilities are infinity on this field: games, social medias, video sites, search tools... I believe next year there will be many new projects and concepts regards Defi.

We who are still in the market today will see that over time we had a lot of positives, different from when I first entered this field what i found, mostly condemns it and has not yet accepted the appearance of btc and they consider it a scam. And then you know, what we have is going through my thoughts and my fantasies, talking about at the moment we are heavily affected by the global epidemic, and everyone is. We have to work from home to be safe, and do you see the role of technology that is so important right now and it is directly affecting our lives and i see we will have a change. to develop and here i see blockchain technology as the solution.

Basically I'm starting to know and frequently Use cryptocurrency around 2015 (Earning from the farm and buying some stuff on merchant, Mainly Domain and tools) and joining Bitcointalk Around 2017, It was the Golden Year of Crypto from my opinion and glad can join bitcointalk forum on the right time. Tons of Good or Bad Project was started on that year, I'm Still remember EOS and Cardano Hype Back Then and of course our Meme Generator, Bitconnect Cheesy.

You still remember this guys?  Roll Eyes

After that year on 2018 till Early 2019 it was really hard for the Crypto Market and i don't really active on that year and then a bull run started in 2020 which we can see now, We can see old Excitement Atmostphere on this year, Covid-19, DeFi, Decentralized Storage was Making the crypto market come alive as before. The most notable Project on this year that i really love was Decentralized Storage (Not Promotion for sure), Arweave. It's was innovative and their Purpose was Powerful also helpful, Censorship Resistant. I learning tons of new Knowledge from that project, Mainly about politics (I was archiving tons of Old Transcript from 1800s, Covid-19 Article & Research, Human Rights and many more. Check this here https://www.arweave.org/.

Another one was Blockchain On networking like Jacs, The solution to the limited IPV4 and IPV6 which is still have an lack of improvisation. You guys should check this one too, https://www.jacs.tech/.

The Last one was DeFi, even there is tons of project without real purpose and just Copying the Concept from it's Pioneer (Uniswap) but it was powerful Concept .

Are you not aware of DeFi? so what if 2017 was the year where ICO was pretty famous? everything comes to an end and new technology is being made. 2020 is a pretty disastrous year for all of us but it's also a year full of innovation that you just aren't aware of. Just because Bitcoin isn't reaching all-time high (at least not yet), doesn't mean there's no innovation at all. Try doing a little bit of research and you'll see some new innovations made.

I think a lot of things happened since then, in regards to this forum and the market. I would argue that this forum lost it's relevance. People migrated away and formed new communities on Reddit and Twitter. Most idle banter is on Reddit and I find the best investment advice on Twitter. I think people stopped coming here because of all of the scams and bitcoin maximalists that attack all projects that aren't Bitcoin. We are part of a technological revolution and Bitcoin is only a small part of that revolution. In fact, I dare to say that it may end up going the way of the phonebooth compared to cell phones for example. But I digress, I'm not hating on this forum, there are still a lot of good people here, but just watch out for scams and scammers. There are so many projects posted here that are just money grabs, masternode scams, forks, projects that exist just to make their founders rich. People lost a lot of money and they may never come back here.

there were many ideas that were born that year. but on average it just ended up as a shit project. I just remembered a few things that were pretty good and have survived until recently.

first, DEX
At the moment there are many DEX markets, even if the trading volume is not very high. but this idea has survived and developed until recently. there are many DEX projects already in operation. we also have Uniswap. a fairly high volume DEX market.

second, online payment using Crypto
this second innovation gave birth to a myriad of scam projects. but there are not a few projects that are really serious about developing this innovation. there are several online payment projects already in operation. what I remember is Utrust, although this project is not very developed but their platform is already operational.

Third, blockchain-based social media.
This innovation gave birth to platforms such as Stemmit, Golos, and many more. Stemmit is a popular blockchain-based social media pioneer to date. and I'm sure they will continue to grow in the future.

fourth, gambling
There are currently many gambling platforms operating on crypto. perhaps this is the best innovation and generates a sizeable profit.

fifth, lending platform and now better known as Defi
although initially this innovation gave birth to many scam projects. but as this idea developed, the term DeFi or decentralized finance was born. a completely decentralized banking. there are many successful defi projects at this time and now defi is also a popular concept among new projects.

that's all the innovations that were born from 2014-2017 are quite successful. all of this is based on my observations, so there may be some things that don't match your opinion.

The main problem is that everyone around sees cryptocurrency exclusively as a means of earning ordinary dollars, and that's it.
Until this position is gone, there will be no more innovations, do not even hope. Why should a speculator need innovation if he is not interested in the development of technologies and their application but only in his own wallet with green presidents?
Let's be honest, the world does not need a cryptocurrency as such, because its reputation at the moment is irrevocably linked to the game on the market and with a similar position to the usual "classic" shares.
But the technology of blockchain and other smart contracts itself can really be perceived as the future that awaits us.
There is no point in fighting for total decentralization in a world where large ideas and projects cannot exist without control.
But it makes sense to fight for the development and improvement of basic technologies so that more and more people see here the prospect of developing data protection and platform devices.

I repeat - in fact, the world does not need cryptocurrency as such so much, but the blockchain and other infrastructure projects will be very useful to this world.
