Hi guys!
There is an upcoming gaming related project, at the moment it's a local project but your opinions and even global visions are highly appreciated for me.

~News~
The website and the platform will include gaming related news: What's happening in the gaming world, what games will be released soon, what kind of technologies are implemented, what innovations will be integrated into gaming, etc. Something similar to IGN, PCGamer...
Website will have news in order to get gamers up to date!

Gaming Lounge and parties
We plan to create a gaming lounge where users will be able to use the latest gaming consoles and personal computers. The environment will be amazing, very comfortable with VIP rooms, hookah, food and drinks (not alcohol). We will have amazing promotions for users. They'll be able to book a specific time when they plan to play, pay online and get rid of queue. On every playing session (1 hour), they'll collect scores. There will be a monthly leaderboard and those with the highest scores (with highest gaming hours) will be able to take part in different competitions and win prizes. But due to Covid, it won't be done at the moment.

Cloud Gaming
At the moment, price of GPUs have risen up and it's hard for people to get good GPU and all the component that's needed for amazing gaming experience. We are going to get in touch with Microsoft or Nvidia to place their servers in the local area and let users use their cloud mining services. People will be able to play their lovely games from any device.

Local Shop
We will open a local store where users will be able to buy gaming consoles, game disks and all the necessary equipment.

Website functions
1. Buy gaming products online
2. Book our and desired gaming lounge.
3. Get access on cloud gaming
4. Get in touch with daily game news.

But it's not what we only want at all.

Have you any idea about blockchain technologies and gaming?

We need innovations! If you have any suggestion, you are more than welcome!

How about trading in game items or buying/selling on the site?

I know theres stuff like that for fiat payments but BTC feels more secure for unregulated transactions like that.

Whoa, That's some brilliant project. When will it developed? Where is it?

Your monthly leaderboard is a good feature , because we "gamers" are competitive always, as well as a local store and the payment is either crypto or real money for the game necessities.

When this Covid-19 ends I think it will be a great and successful project.

Are there any specifictions needed to have this kind of game?.
Also, you are trying to open a local store why not with the use of the cryptocurrency payment so still you can adopt the use of the blockchain? Is there a chance we can see the UI or the Beta of the website I just want to explore and try to recommend some bugs to fix if there's something
Still, I will watch this thread to have a future update, Looking forward to your team.

OK first things first, the idea was good despite of having various flaws and questions that still needs to be solidified. Your idea is all about gaming, and with no integration of cryptocurrency nor blockchain at all. If you wanted to have some unique ideas, better implement crypto as mode of payment upon registration of a user's account. But, keep in mind that CLOUD GAMING is very expensive, and having brilliant ideas wouldn't give you certainty that Microsoft nor Nvidia would sponsor nor make a deal WITHOUT you providing a prototype with a full document of your concept. Lastly, if you wanted to be a 'gaming-haven platform', take the ideas of Steam and Riot Games as your primary competitor, as they have the same concept as you do, except the possible integration of crypto.

What can the blockchain do in such a scenario? I expect it will not offer a lot of things or that you need to put in a lot of effort to make things work when you can do it using any of the traditional methods.
The best solution is to accept payments in cryptocurrencies while giving users an opportunity to earn them by promoting the site or playing some games and getting paid for them.
You can also create some funds that will enable individuals to increase their income by storing currencies in them.

You will need to decide if you want to be a web service (gaming, news, etc) or a local brick and mortar business.  Dividing time on both will hurt both.

Do not expect Microsoft or Nvidia to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars building a endpoint near you when you have no idea of the resources you would need.

Instead, why not provide guides and youtube videos on how to set up local LAN parties?  LAN speeds are faster than WAN, and most good games will have open source projects allowing you to host a server locally without internet access.

I think I am a bit confused here... What does your site have to do with Crypto currencies or Bitcoin? Will your local shop accept Crypto currency payments and will your website accept Crypto currency payments?

If that is your idea, then your project belongs here and I can suggest that you give a small discount to people who pays with Crypto currencies to spread Crypto currency adoption.  Wink

I see no website in your thread, so I suppose that it is still under development? Please get back to us with more information.  Grin

There will be a monthly leaderboard and those with the highest scores (with highest gaming hours) will be able to take part in different competitions and win prizes.
If I were you, I would've considered charging a small amount from others to also join those competitions [in this way, you're giving normal gamers a chance as well].

3. Get access on cloud gaming
As a gamer [real one] with some cloud gaming experience [IMHO, it wasn't the best experience], I prefer seeing you focus on something else than hoping for them to expand their servers near you.

Local Shop
We will open a local store where users will be able to buy gaming consoles, game disks and all the necessary equipment.

~Snipped~

1. Buy gaming products online
I think the parts I've highlighted in red seem to contradict each other.

If he would focus instead on making a gaming business that is mainly a LAN party gaming, then it wasn't far different from establishing an Internet Cafe. But honestly, such businesses really aren't good for this era as many people already own their respective gaming consoles. I also had the same idea back then and if the OP would take your advice, I would also suggest that if he would push a LAN party gaming establishment, it should not be a renting-consoles type of business, but rather a local gaming haven for game tournaments which only opens if a minor tournament would be conducted. I've never seen such businesses, and I guess it would be as good as making a company that sponsors gamers, yet as expensive of course as making a real company.

Still, I will watch this thread to have a future update, Looking forward to your team.
We consider to add cryptocurrencies without doubt and support it by offering some high discounts on games that won't damage our business. But I have no idea what Blockchain has to do with gaming, that's why I asked here, if anyone has some idea cause I often see threads where word blockchain is included almost everywhere but that's a lure in most cases, we don't want that.
You can't see the UI at the moment, apologize.

I only can think accepting cryptocurrency as payment method. But if you plan to host your own server (e.g. Minecraft server), you could use blockchain for transparency of rare/limited items.
Can you tell me if there are similar projects? And will it be something good and really beneficial? Idk...

OK first things first, the idea was good despite of having various flaws and questions that still needs to be solidified. Your idea is all about gaming, and with no integration of cryptocurrency nor blockchain at all. Yeah, I agree with you but we get huge grant, we should try to negotiate with them! Btw I love the marketing team of Riot Games, they are by far amazing, very unique and impressive method of marketing. Along with riot, I love the marketing of Raid: Shadow Legends, their ads are the only ones that I watch by pleasure.

To be fair, IDK what blockchain has to do here but still asking, if anyone has some idea. Btw you can feel free and offer other suggestions if you want.
We have some exciting ideas marketing and promotions.

You will need to decide if you want to be a web service (gaming, news, etc) or a local brick and mortar business.  Dividing time on both will hurt both.
Why will it hurt? There are a lot of business that offers you to buy things online and in real life at the same time. We may not open store in malls, idk but I think it won't hurt to have small store in gaming lounge like you see proteins and supplements in GYMs. We want to conquer both segments.

If I were you, I would've considered charging a small amount from others to also join those competitions [in this way, you're giving normal gamers a chance as well].
In idea, we plan to include both of them: Play more and get more scores to be included in top leaderboard + second one - pay some money to join a tournament + some other ideas.

As a gamer [real one] with some cloud gaming experience [IMHO, it wasn't the best experience], I prefer seeing you focus on something else than hoping for them to expand their servers near you.
That's amazing, thank you. Yeah, cloud gaming isn't at it's best right now but what about the future? Technologies develop rapidly, it's very hard to upgrade PC/Laptop very often + mining makes GPUs expensive, especially right now. Btw yeah, it will be hard or maybe impossible to have a deal with Microsoft or Nvidia but we should try.

I think the parts I've highlighted in red seem to contradict each other.

You can integrate Blockchain or Cryptos at any stage or process of your project. A simple example would be, simply accepting cryptos at your gaming lounge where they can buy food, drinks, hookah without any fiat money. Have a BTC ATM or an exchange service at the lounge that helps to convert cryptos into your local currencies or vice versa. You could literally add and integrate them however you like.

I doubt that there are any serious gamers who would spend cryptocurrencies on a game but will be too much of a noob to have a decent GPU. GPU's aren't really so hard to get despite the mining scenario. Your idea doesn't seem to offer anything new. Its also confusing to hear about both a gaming parlor as well as a website. I don't think that gaming submits itself to the Arcade gaming scene of the early 80s/90s. Most serious gamers now pride themselves on building a gaming rig from whatever they can afford.

When it comes to the crossroads of gaming and blockchain, there already is a lot of competition in that area. The recent NFT craze was first inspired from gaming itself. Now NFTs are becoming part of the pumpamentals even though they could easily have good usage without being positioned for that.

I do have an idea to share though. Just make a detailed catalogue of all possible games and tokens involved in this space, partner with them to sponsor your actual brick and mortar store. Use that sponsorship to offer gamers all kind of NFTs and tokens that these communities keep bringing. They gain real gamers as users in their communities and you get one exciting thing to offer your patrons.

The best inspiration for this project is Steam. They've once adopted bitcoin as payment but soon, they've removed it. I get the idea of having a lounge but getting people staying there is going to be tough for you guys and for your lounge, just like what they're saying it's the start of the process through adding a payment method in bitcoin or any other crypto you prefer.

I suggest you search and watch one video on YouTube on Cloth Map's channel entitled - Cuba's Underground Gaming Network. It's the first thing that I've thought of for this quote.

They had a gaming segment on the local news today.  Unsurprisingly, gaming has jumped during the pandemic.

Men and women now split 50/50.   No word on other genders.

51% of adults say they've played a game in the last week.  Young adults like their gaming consoles, and children prefer mobile games.   No stats on PC gaming for oldies like me.  :/

Can you tell me if there are similar projects? And will it be something good and really beneficial? Idk...

I'm focusing on a new type of gaming that uses the blockchain and an improvement over typical NFTs.

The best inspiration for this project is Steam.

Agreed!  They already have most of the infrastructure in place.

Yeah, as you see some people suggested me to offer crypto payments in gaming lounge and to place bitcoin ATM. In reality, this will be a waste of time and resources, no one will ever use any of them. My friend has a cafe in a very prestigious place and no one was using bitcoin ATM. People were looking at it like museum exhibitions.

But I think crypto payments on the website will be a cool idea, I believe people will use it. You know, the audience that visits gaming lounges and the audience that prefers to use online services differ in the area where I plan to launch this project.

sunsilk
Thank you, I'll definitely check it.

Vod
I was thinking about something like this: To create something similar to a casino where people will be able to state their bet and find opponents that will have a wish to play with them. For example, I bet $5 and you follow me = $10. We play PES 2020 p2p, against each other and winner takes $9 ($1 goes to the service provider, i.e. us).
Idk if that is even possible, haven't discussed it, was just thinking Smiley

Btw I would say that adults like you (Let's imagine 30+) play games very often but most likely they visit gaming lounges with their friends.

Btw I would say that adults like you (Let's imagine 30+) play games very often but most likely they visit gaming lounges with their friends.

I would say you are wrong.   I have always been in IT so I've always had a faster computer than the lounges.   I don't know a single friend who has ever visited a lounge either.   But, just having turned 50, I can't speak for the next couple generations. (I do like your imaginary 30 though!)

Gaming Lounges are dying.  They were useful at a time when bandwidth did not allow high quality multiplayer games.   But now a garage LAN party can be set up in minutes rather than hours, and streaming services such as Steam allow anyway to play/watch anything else without being there.

You are also a lot less likely to get financing if you split your business model like that.   Forget lounges, with the high rent, the viruses, the crime, etc and concentrate on an online system.   If you are locked on the lounge industry, teach rather than do.   Your website can focus on resources for planning and executing events and eventually you'll receive advertising from the industry!

Love to chat more on this.

You are welcome, thank you for your opinions.
Statistics depend on locations and in this case I talk from my perspective. We plan to open a gaming lounge in a good post-soviet country. I know it's a dead thing in the USA and other European countries but here is a different situation. First of all, no one spends a lot of money on computers, most people just have a PC or laptop that is able to run google chrome and Microsoft office. When people want to play games, they visit gaming lounges. Teens get some bucks and visit these centres (usually those who doesn't study much at school) and also most adults, as I mentioned, 30+ with their friends come after their job and play games. Usually, there are queues in gaming lounges.
But let's forget gaming lounge because it's not the right time to run such business because of Covid and restrictions set in this country.

Yeah, I know I'll get less financing, local business is just personal idea. We get a grant for an innovative digital idea. There is a team that works on cloud gaming services, at first we plan to negotiate with Microsoft and Nvidia (but personally I dream to launch something similar of Shadow.tech)

What kind of events do you mean? We have negotiated with some local casinos to sponsor us and run egaming tournaments (yeah, they are interested in it).

Gamers are loners so I don't think this new generation gamers getting into lounges for hangout with other gamers, maybe it will work few times but it won't entertain games in long term for sure.
