Amazing! Just googled and seems there are some people who made the QR code via LEGO. I think whoever imagined this at first, should be in their marketing team. Doesn't Lego has a bricks line with the flat, sleek surface? I just tested your QR code but somehow it didn't work (btw laptop's screen and smartphone's cameras are good).
OP have you tried to make QR code with black and white Play-Doh? I think it will be cool and fun, I would take it from children but those colours are always mixed with other colors, so, not useful Cheesy

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Those flat bricks do exist, but at the time I didn't have enough of them to create the whole QR, it was bigger than it looks. As to the QR not working, I've just checked with both my phone and tablet and they got it okay; maybe something on the reader you have?

Nope, and I honestly don't think that's something I have lying around at home. The brick idea came out of the blue while I was doing some cleanup, and turned out to be something fun actually

  • Using flat bricks for the blacks and leaving the whites non-flat (cheaper)
  • Using flat bricks for blacks and whites (more expensive but looks "better")
Flat bricks don't really look like Lego. If you want something flat, Ministeck is cheaper, smaller and lighter (for shipping):

OP have you tried to make QR code with black and white Play-Doh?
I The kids have this stuff:
Image loading...
They haven't used the black and the white. It would be quite good for QR-codes because it hardens, but especially the black foam is terribly sticky.

You can buy exactly one Lego Brick from the Lego web site if you really, really need just one more brick, or a whole tonne of bricks if need be.

Follow the link https://www.lego.com/en-us/page/static/Pick-a-Brick?icmp=HP-SHQL-EG-NO-pick-a-120 (it's not a reference link, that's the page, go to Lego.com and click on "pick a brick" if you're worried about such things...)

confirmed, it's scannable. automatically asking me to open my wallet.
nice work!

it would be even better if the QR code can be simplified, so it can be smaller.

I think I'll make one with "fake" lego for a cheaper price lol.
I will apply a clear epoxy to it, with fake physical bitcoin along with it.

That's doable; even if it was some time ago, I remeber that there were 3 "definition" options in the QR generator I used for some trials. For the model, I simply used the first one I found on a block explorer, but afterwards, I did some digging to see how good an idea it could be to sell crafted QRs.

Code:
qrencode version 3.4.4
Copyright (C) 2006-2012 Kentaro Fukuchi
-l {LMQH}    specify error correction level from L (lowest) to H (highest).
I tried all options, and even the lowest still has error correction: it still works if I cover a small corner of the QR. According to Wikipedia, error correction goes from 7% to 30%.
Instead of reducing error correction, you could try to add a Lego Bitcoin logo in the middle.
This seems like a good activity to do with the kids today Cheesy

I tried with 2 phones, and only one (the oldest) could scan the Lego.

sure, will share it here when it's done.
IDK how to apply epoxy, but my partner, youtube.. will help me with this  Grin

what if I use a link shortener to simplify the url/text before it's generated into a QR code?
maybe, there is a secure decentralized text/link shortener  Grin Grin Grin

QR-codes are tricky enough already (malicious QR code readers steal Bitcoin), adding a third party only makes it worse.

This guy had a website with a QR Code creator and a push TX - The website no longer exists and the user if inactive:

With help from the kids, the Bitcoin logo and Ministeck.eu, we made my boy's QR:
Image loading...
It uses the highest error correction. The whole thing could have been 50% smaller, but that didn't leave enough resolution for the BTC-logo.
Remind me never to do this again Tongue It's a good way to waste another stay-at-home-weekend with the kids though Smiley

My Android QR Code Scanner scans this about 20 times faster than Mycelium or Coinomi (but I trust that scanner far less).

Nice work! I'd have added the bitcoin: prefix so that it triggers wallet apps, but still amazing. I'm surprised to see how very round the logo is too, considering it isn't easy creating round things with rectangular ones...

In retrospect, given how much better the other QR-scanner is, that would have been better Smiley

That's all Ministeck.eu's doing Smiley There are sites that turn pictures into Lego-mosaics too.

You've just found a new use for your childhood toy. I would not even think about it if I had not seen this topic on this forum. The only thing is to take flat blocks for the upper layers, without connecting elements, for a clearer picture. Also, it is desirable that all blocks are the same size in height.

Desirable is OK, but perfect conditions are no fun at all! Although I agree with flat bricks giving a more "high-end" result, I did what I could with what I had at hand, and it turned out pretty well I must say
