Yesterday I made a list of fake wallets on google play and visited google play store. Then I found a fake Blockchain wallet stealing people's money.

Fake Blockchain Wallet:

Playstore link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andreys.blockchainwallet

Some reviews about this fake app:

Real Blockchain Wallet:

Playstore link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=piuk.blockchain.android

Official website link:
www.blockchain.com

You can download real blockchain wallet from their official website.

Google playstore is just a home to fake wallets, if we check google playstore carefully now, there are still many fake wallets apps and fake apps generally existing there, and yet google have nothing they are doing about this, the governments just do not threaten google to do something about it, that is why google will always be lenient about fake apps on its placestore. Nice catch but many more to come as scammers have seeing google playstore as a nice place for their fake apps.

Yes,
This has been the isuues to some people who sometimes complain about missing coins
So if you want to get a crypto wallet read the previews about the wallet or you can actually seek for advice from others who has been in the field.

That's not really accurate.

They can made a good previews, excellent performance, or unrealistic interest on his fake wallet to trap newbies.

Or you mean reviews? Read a reviews are not really accurate too since they can create tons fake account to write fake reviews.

If anyone wants to download any sort of wallet, it should be done through their website and also to make sure you are visiting a legit website. There is always a download link on the website. It's never safe searching on google playstore. Google also really need to do something about approving several scam applications. It's a pity this fake wallet has 50k+ downloads hence several users have already been scammed.

This is the reason why most of the people today would not trust any kind of application on google play because they don't too much filter out that submission of an application to their platform. Unlike on iOs, they scan each of the codes if there is some duplicate and they terminate immediately those fakes application. Still, this is a good catch by OP because most of the members today are seeking their transaction with the use of the blockchain, also you can check out with the use of the mempool too. If you are using a web base through the use of your computer you can see them out but if you see it with the use of mobile application most of the time the good play already give you the highest rate app and trusted but make sure to double-check it.

Frankly this is just what -Newbies-  must, with emphasis know about things painted clean when in reality the stains are wide as a football pitch,
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5298723.0
-Newbies- are carefree when their eyes and un-sensitive examination of risk tells them to go-ahead. In the thread I talked about payed rating scheme, how Apps can buy over people to rate the app, not only rating anything that present the App as what it is not.

Even if we search their website name still most users don't give their time to find the details about their website like when it was created so obviously they will still land up into clone websites most of the times.

Is it possible to fake the number of downloads on google playstore?

Yes, this is old news and the sad thing is that it is repeating over and over again.

Most crypto-veterans here won't fall in this kind of traps. Maybe in more sophisticated ones, as this crypto sphere is unfortunately full of scammers so you have to double check always the URLs, addresses, senders... but not in these kind of obvious scams.

The most terrible part is that the newbies do fall in there. It has to be truly demoralising to have just entered the crypto world, full of hope and illusion, and suddenly be aware of the fact your wallet has been emptied.

Thanks for sharing the news. Maybe you have contributed to make a newbie not fall in this trap, and that would be enough rewarding.

Nice catch OP. I'm quite surprised how many fake wallet apps have been chaired by Google in its Play store. We have also seen a drastic increase in the number of lending apps which use BTC in their logos and then ask you for money inside showing you "too good to be true" kind of amounts after fetching all your data. Then, they simply use your contact list to contact them and make them force you to pay these apps even if you haven't taken anything from them.

That's one of the disadvantages of cryptocurrencies. Because you are the one who is responsible for your own wallet. Some people are not involved in technology and in order to buy cryptocurrencies and keep them, you need to get involved in.

It is easy to scam many people who are not aware of risks of holding cryptocurrencies. But I believe that in near future, they will find a way to reduce the risks. But for now I don't believe that a basic internet user's assets are safe.

Any money app on playstore can't be trusted not just crypto wallet apps, do not download bank apps, paypal apps or third parties payment apps on playstore, it's time we should be avoiding google playstore since the team aren't doing anything about numerous fake apps on their store

No offense, but it just shows how beginner you are in the world of crypto. Experience crypto users don't really on previous reviews because it could be fake and paid reviews coming from the criminals themselves. The best weapon here so as not to get trick is to really educate yourself and not to download apps in Google Play store because they are not that strict on how to create and setup an app on their store.

Believe me, I have seen a few campaigns where peoples getting payments to download the apps. Even you will find such services on Fiverr who will provide you download service. They will give you a certain number of downloads for a certain amount. Very simple to report such as copycat apps. I have reported just now from the Google play store. Just click three dots upper right and click as "flag as inappropriate" then select "copycat or impersonation" and submit it. I am not sure how many reports need to take down this app from the Google play store. But at least we may try from our ends.

It is not that easy to just get into the google play store? I don't think it just happens. Then you have to comply with all kinds of regulations and protocols. The playstore really doesn't allow you to place a scam app there.
Certainly not when it is related to bitcoins, they will be very sharp on that. it would be possible in theory of course.
