Please take a look at merits sent and received by bitcoinermatt.

bitcoinermatt sent 2 merit to Grafftz.
Once Grafftz received the second merit and his first smerit, he sent back a merit to bitcoinermatt.

bitcoinermatt sent 3 merit to mr_ROBOTT and 26 minutes later received 3 merit from him.

bitcoinermatt sent 5 merit to hossamdz and 2 minutes later received 5 merit from him.

bitcoinermatt received 10 merit from mrob82. About 1 hour later, sent 8 merit to him and 6 minutes later received 4 more merit from him.

bitcoinermatt sent 3 merit to Sparrow96 and about 4 hours later received 3 merit from him.

Again bitcoinermatt and hossamdz.

In less than 10 minutes, bitcoinermatt sent 7 merit to hossamdz in 3 merit transactions and received 10 merit from him in 4 merit transactions.

I don't see any abuse of the merit system because merits are shared between accounts which is how the merits work. If only taken the time and the merits of the account shared between into consideration, we don't have enough proof to call it abuse.

What I find interesting is, all these accounts are member rank so maybe an account farm ring? Also, they staked this address today

Here's mine: 1LdG8Frnm5tQQPwe1BACDNtL2Ffoq5saCh

There are not sufficient proofs to support any of the above at the moment.

Sometimes I'll get a merit or two back after sending one or some to somebody, I'd say within a day or so. But it doesn't happen to me nearly as often as this guy, and it seems to be pre-planned behavior. His merit activity is definitely suspicious but it would require more evidence of the merit trade agreement before I'd say its worth  getting grumpy about...

What are these accounts (merit customers) doing? If they are a spam farm then they should def. be tagged. If they are just bounty hunters, I don't think there's enough evidence to accuse them of anything specifically, so far. But that's just my take on it. If they turn out to all be owned by the same person, its worth waiting to see what they are trying to accomplish.

This kind of merit "return" happens quite often and the original senders don't really have control over this, do they? Some users, particularly newer ones, think of merits as "likes" or "thank yous". Not the best use of the merit system but not abuse either.

I don't think we can build an accusation out of this unless there is some other link between those accounts.

Joel_Jantsen, nutildah, suchmoon thanks for your responses. You all are right. I agree with you. There is no evidence and we cannot accuse users above.

This kind of merit "return" happens quite often and the original senders don't really have control over this, do they?
No they don't.

Even before making this topic, I expected these responses. I know that there is no evidence.
TBH, I wanted to post this topic 2-3 days ago. But I didn't, because there was no evidence of abuse and even now there isn't.

Today, I checked the account in question again and saw that a same thing is happening again and again.
Even until the last moment before posting this topic, I was hesitant about making this topic.

If you check the merit history of bitcoinermatt, you will see that he has sent merit to 6 users in 9 merit transactions.
All those 6 users has sent back merit to bitcoinermatt immediately after they received merit from him.
You are right that some newbies think that merit is something like "thank you". But it's a bit suspicious, if you merit 6 users and all of them think in that way and merit you once you merit them.

It’s not actually kind of "like" or "I like this". Merit is introduced to be given to the post which is good quality, helpful to the forum members. You should not merit a post because you like that post.

If we take a look at the circle of their merit history then which is kind of suspicious to me as well but we can't assume this as abuse without any clear evidences. Did you find any relation between al those accounts which shared merits between each other?

In my opnion this is a clear merit abuse.

Look at those posts:

Both posts are hardly worth 1 merit. But 9 merits (from users who don't hold basically none sMerits) is just ridiculous.

I would tag, but there are so many people saying they shouldn't be....

Edit: Probably they are close friends or alts.
Is it allowed to give all your merits to close friends? I think it is...

It shouldn't really be, but over time it kinda evolved to that, at least to some degree. Members are not as stingy as they used to be when it comes to merit sharing (at least that's what I've been told by older members) so people merit for other reasons other than simply for post quality.

edit: While looking through your post history I noticed that you shared one really cool bitcoin themed painting

Hello everyone, I made a Bitcoin Drawing a while back and kind of forgot about it. Let me know what you think about it. Here it is:

A little bit a of reverse image search and I found this painting on Instagram as work of user @coaster89. It can be found on reddit too (again user with the same name shared it, coaster89). Interesting thing about this is that he is actually making money out of his paintings, selling it for ETH, as seen on this link https://app.rarible.com/coaster89/collectibles.

So, either @coaster89 ripped you off, or you took his drawing and presented it as your own, or maybe both of you are the same person?

edit2: Same painting has been shared by @buyinbtc in Wall thread at the beginning of 2020

This guy is insane. Link to his instagram.

I would tag, but there are so many people saying they shouldn't be....

Problem with tagging is that you can probably find many similar cases, people sharing merits for posts of questionable quality. I do agree that this kind of merit sharing is suspicious but I would really like to see more solid evidence than that, like use of same social media accounts or same address.

I wasn't interested in the thread as much as this reply made me interested. You shouldn't really be feeling special when there is a whole thread accusing you of being a cheater and an account farmer. At least, that's not the response I would give in my defense.

If you think of merits that way, I'm surprised how haven't anything else that interesting on the forum?

I considered myself very suspicious when I watched these accounts. But after looking at this thread, I definitely figured out that they are related. Look at the transfer of merit and at what time it happens. It takes time to evaluate posts, but everything happens on the same day in a matter of minutes.
All accounts belonging to the same region, I suspect someone is just growing their alternate accounts by transferring merit.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1140480

The funny thing is that he himself sends reviews to other accounts, accusing them of what he does. Grin

All those 6 users has sent back merit to bitcoinermatt immediately after they received merit from him.

Quite enough that anyone who wants to see what's really going on sees it, and anyone who doesn't want to see will just turn their head the other way. This has never happened to me personally, and I believe most of the forum members - but since I have been active on the forum every day since the merit system was created, I can only say that it was interesting to watch some members reward their main account with merits from their alt accounts - and when the airdropped merits dried up they almost didn't move up.

Both posts are hardly worth 1 merit. But 9 merits (from users who don't hold basically none sMerits) is just ridiculous.

This is not about how good the post is, but about the fact that probably one person distributes the merit between their alt accounts, and considering everything shown, not in a very intelligent way.

Is it allowed to give all your merits to close friends? I think it is...

In fact, practically everything is allowed - I think the admin intervened in one or two cases of abuse, but researching such things takes too much time, and some of these forum members sooner or later get a perma ban or red flag.

If any of the members you sent merits to posted this, it would make sense as it explains why they sent merits back. But, being posted by you, doesn't really make sense (you're not supposed to know how others think). Sounds like you're looking for an excuse to justify it!
Anyway, imo, this is not a tag-worthy offence. At least not with the available evidences in op.

Moreover, I found plagiarism on the account  hossamdz, which was paraphrased.

After logfiles pointed out that he was using the article inappropriately, the post link was removed.
Dude where have you been?
Bitcoin is way past $15K, It even touched $16K in some exchanges last night. This is the problem with you people who just copy and paste articles from anywhere around the web without knowledge of what is going on at the moment.

Are you aware that plagiarism is a huge sin in this forum? That it can lead to a permanent ban to your account?
Are you the owner of this article - https://cryptotalk.org/topic/322550-bitcoin-price-spikes-over-9-as-the-crypto-assets-value-nears-15k/?tab=comments#comment-9890113

The crypto economy has hopped over the $400 billion imprint and is currently drifting around $414 billion at the hour of distribution. The biggest crypto resource regarding market cap, bitcoin has move over 9% during the most recent 24 hours consistently walking toward the $15k zone.

During the most recent 30 days, Bitcoin (BTC) has increased over 39% contacting another record-breaking 2020 high of $14,964 on Bitstamp, Thursday morning.

Bitcoin (BTC) is up 9.8% during the most recent seven days and 27.3% during the most recent 90 days.

Bloomberg Senior Commodity Strategist, Mike McGlone, anticipates that BTC should go "illustrative" in 2021.

"Bitcoin may go through an explanatory 2021, as it did in 2013 and 2017, if past examples play out once more," McGlone tweeted. "New highs are a next expected emphasis and might be just a short time except if something we don't predict trips up the pattern of more noteworthy selection and request versus restricted gracefully."

Out of 7,594 cryptographic forms of money and 32,171 business sectors, bitcoin's (BTC) predominance record is around 65.7% on Thursday.

Other than BTC's staggering additions on Thursday, various lesser-realized coins saw huge spikes that were a lot bigger. Coins, for example, yoyow, refereum, gifto, ankr, machine xchange coin, profound cerebrum chain, land, and celsius saw gains between 12-98%.

Various brokers and examiners currently accept the direction toward $20k is fast approaching.

"As we referenced already, it was significant for Bitcoin to beat the obstruction region close $12,000," Alex Kuptsikevich, Fxpro senior money related investigator said on Thursday. "Whenever it was passed, the coin didn't have any critical obstacles to leap to rehash the convention towards $20,000. All deterrents were squashed, and now any news foundation is seen as sure for the main cryptographic money."

In front of the November, fifteenth redesign, bitcoin money (BCH) is up 3.4% and exchanging for $244 per coin.

Ethereum (ETH) costs are up 5% on Thursday, as costs have been floating around $404 per unit.

With a general $414 billion crypto market valuation, there's $28.5 billion in worldwide digital money exchange volume today.

But beyond that, I found a real source from where it was all paraphrased.

Apropo the painting that @bitcoinermatt claimed that it is his own work, I decided to contact the person who I thought  is original creator, and just to rule out that they are not the same person.

That person (@coaster89) just confirmed me via reddit message that he doesn't even have bitcointalk account, meaning @bitcoinermatt  is guilty of plagiarism and we all know what's the penalty for that.

Here is the screenshot of the conversation I just had with him, confirming my suspicion. I hope that this is enough for him to get banned.  As  @hosseinimr93 suspected, this guy is dodgy af. I just don't understand what exactly he wanted to achieve with this painting claim. Was that just a merit fishing attempt?

Moreover, I found plagiarism on the account  hossamdz, which was paraphrased.

After logfiles pointed out that he was using the article inappropriately, the post link was removed.
Dude where have you been?
Bitcoin is way past $15K, It even touched $16K in some exchanges last night. This is the problem with you people who just copy and paste articles from anywhere around the web without knowledge of what is going on at the moment.

Are you aware that plagiarism is a huge sin in this forum? That it can lead to a permanent ban to your account?

Stop lying! Yes, you accidentally copied someone else's text, transferred it to another forum, then it was no coincidence that you began to ask for merit for this post?

I do not see anything outstanding in your posts today. The same plagiarism, only well paraphrased.

How about this post? Forgot too? I am not registered on that forum, but anyone will see that this is not your text either.

my most important tips in trading :
dont put  all your eggs in one box .
invest only what you are ready to lose.
dont trade using your emotions .
