I have some BTC in a very old Blockstack CLI wallet (before BTC fork). Anyone knows if I can import the private key in an older electrum wallet?

My private key looks like the following (I changed some characters of course):

"master_private_key": "ef242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",

"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”

You don't need the wallet password and can directly focus on importing the master private key.

Go to File > New/Restore, type a name for the new wallet, select Standard Wallet and then select User Master Key. Then type the master private key in the text box and it'll import it.

P.S. don't reveal your master private key next time even if you only change a few characters. You won't believe how sophisticated address sweepers have become, so my advice is after you complete all this, create a normal Electrum wallet and send all of your coins there.

I'm not able to hit "next" so I guess that means the private key is not recognized.

I'm not able to hit "next" so I guess that means the private key is not recognized.

Are you trying to import legacy addresses (starting with a "1") or segwit address (starting with "3" or "bc1")? If your addresses start with 1 then type "xprv" before typing the master private key, if they start with "3" then type "yprv" and if they start with "bc1" then type "zprv".

You mentioned that your wallet was from before the BTC fork so I suspect that you are importing legacy addresses (master private keys beginning with "xprv").

Still doesn't work...maybe it's because my master private key is encrypted? Again, here is what my backup looks like:

"master_private_key": "ef242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",

"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”

Click on File> New/Restore:

Make sure there's a name in the "Wallet" field, then click next:

Select "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys":

Past your private keys in the available field:

If the private key you past or type into the field is valid, the "Next" button will activate.  Click "Next" then add follow the prompts.

(I changed some characters of course):
What type of characters did you add? Were they "w", "u", "p", and stuff like that because the string you posted makes no sense.
If the characters are all in range of [0,9][a,f] then it is hexadecimal and it could be a "seed" to be fed to a BIP32 or BIP39 to derive child keys. Otherwise if there are any other characters outside of this range you must seek out the wallet that created it and see what kind of encoding it is using, I did a quick check and I believe it is using hexadecimal.
The next step would be figuring out the derivation path.

"master_private_key": "ef242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",

"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”
Your encrypted "master_private_key" and "wallet_password" are strikingly similar to a post from another forum:
Quote
"master_private_key": "xx242kfjj24ekf3223jesdkhefsfhk324wuefhw38fhrypofhtr34d342132d34jsd49",
"wallet_password": “kljsef9832nkfssf”

I've censored the first two characters and didn't link the url because it might be your unedited version, are you the same person?
If so, you should delete/edit that post ASAP.

Anyways, Electrum won't accept such format, stick to your other thread with a bounty (here).

I edited both so no worries. My real key ends in 01 and begins in ef. Anyways I will stick to the other thread. Thank you.
