The interesting thing about the PIN server... is that you can actually run your own. They do provide the code: https://github.com/Blockstream/blind_pin_server

Of course, there is no guarantee that the PIN server you are connecting to is actually running this code... unless you do run your own.

And I've no idea how easy it is to setup, resource requirements etc, but maybe it could be a nice little addition to something like a RaspiBlitz/Umbrel/MyNode setup.

No, you are not wrong.
But I think part of the issue is that they are not targeting people like "us" who know what we are doing and want a measure of privacy and control.
They are looking to go after the Coinbase / Gemini / etc. type users that want that warm security blanket type feeling.

It does not really supply it, but it makes them feel better.

It would be interesting if someone could test how this works with personal server and Jade wallet.
I had an idea to create my own Jade DIY hardware wallet and I have new empty device ready at my home, all I need to do is to load firmware on it and buy new cable.
Thing is that I have other more important stuff in life now and nothing will move during summer time on that direction.

Yeah, it's a step in the "always online" direction that things like gaming consoles and PC Games have taken in terms of DRM and copy-protection etc.

Yes, large numbers of the world are "online" and mostly "always online"... but that doesn't make it right.

Personally, I was just curious to have an experiment and see how it all worked in practice... and try a few scenarios to get a feel for the typical and atypical use cases. Certainly would not be advising anyone to actually buy one
