I don't think it will outperform Bitcoin as a coin entity. However, I do believe that it is a decent opportunity to invest in. During the last week, its price rose to a significant degree, and I also believe that it will increase further more in the near future.
I wouldn't advise you to place your funds solely on one coin, you can always invest in both.

I've done this last December 2020 in which I've sell all of my holdings in bitcoin and convert almost 40% of my profit into ethereum and guess what, I am currently taking profit right now because when I've convert some of my profit into ethereum, ethereum price is not bullish but right now see what is happening to the ethereum. If you hold the same amount of BTC and eth since 2018 you would lose A LOT of money in ethereum.
Things may change now. I think we might be close to an altcoin season. But even if Ethereum can break  its downtrend (in ethxbtc ratio) it will be only temporaly, imo.

I am not much of a trader rather a holder but you seem to have a valid point if we consider past market patterns. How do we know the previous market cycles are going to be repeated though? It's all a mere speculation given how the crypto currency markets work.

The way I see it is, BTC hit 200%+ of its ATH this year and ETH barely crossed its previous ATH. If you're a long term holder, stick with BTC. Granted you will lose the short term ETH rallies but you will be better off in the long run. Depends on how play the market really. Are you much of a holder or a trader? If you are a trader then you can try to time things and hope you land on the right side. If you're a long term holder then BTC is a more sound choice seeing recent past.

The problem with OP is that OP is sacrificing bitcoin for ethereum which is not a really good move as bitcoin is proven to come back higher than the last time which means that OP could be missing out of something big if OP were to forego hodling bitcoin in favor of ethereum. Well, the bitcoin's pull back is a great chance to do that. However, if you are sure eth will gonna bull run and your technical analysis shows btc/eth pair will give you a good profit, then why not?

Bitcoin and Ethereum are the best coins of all and it would be better to have them both without having to exchange them, and I personally will prioritize bitcoin even though it is experiencing a decline and eventually other coins will also decline.

They are two biggest crypto currencies by market capital but they are totally different as they were developed for different reasons and with different internal dynamics.
For a particular instance ,turning your btc to eth  can be a good idea ,as seen lately ETH touched its new ATH while BTC was surfacing in red. But ETH as a coin won't be able to overtake BTC . BTC is like a parent ,whose up and down do impact to it's children no matter what.

You are right about the incomparable BTC and ETH. BTC and ETH have different platforms and have their respective advantages. Holding both is a good option, instead of having to sell all of the BTC for ETH.

Selling all btc for ethereum in my opinion is not a bad way considering that the ethereum price hikes have brought a lot of profit for traders. But when these two assets have the same potential profit, then I don't think that's the best way to sell them. Your current 1 bitcoin might be equivalent to 26.42 ETH when you sold it. It is not impossible that when you sell ETH you will no longer get 1 bitcoin because the price is not the same.

If you really want to do that, I think you can still sell some of the bitcoins you have to buy Ethereum because these two assets are also pretty good to have in your current portfolio. But remember, everyone here is just telling you and giving a little bit of their opinion on the question you asked. I knew that if any altcoin manages to pump somewhat independently of Bitcoin and at the same time won't lose 80% of value at random it's going to be ETH, so I bought it 2 years ago when it was still cheap and still have it now.

Of course I wouldn't sell my BTC for ETH. I believe in ETH but I believe in BTC more. Dumping bitcoin to catch a possible pump on some altcoin, even if it's the best altcoin out there would be very risky.

I find the above hard to believe,  eth out perform btc , how did that happen,  btc made it to $40k which means x2 for those who bought at 20k  and even more for those who bought below, eth did give profit but not as high as btc,

I prefer this option and it is better to go all-in-a single altcoin, especially if the price has tripled during the same quarter. Patience is the key in investing and buying the top altcoins is safer than investing in the nonpopular altcoins. I had did the same investment strategies during the 2017 bull season and it has worked like a charm. The low marketcap altcoins can give a huge profit if the right techniques are used by the trader/investor. Not sure from what you got these information about high net worth individuals unloading all their bitcoin for ETH, it might be possible as the price of bitcoin touched around $42k and some might book their profit and enter alts especially ETH considering the hype regarding their upgrade and staking. I am not bullish on the long term but will see how long the rally could hold.

You have a bad idea, it goes against business principles. At any rate, ETH is essentially on the move and has a good propensity to cross the 1k5 hurdle at the end of January. The move looks nice for you to swap BTC / ETH. But in my opinion, it is advisable to reset 60% to BTC to minimize risk and safety because bitcoin is still holding a good threshold.

I like ethereum and I really believe to it's potential but I will not going to sell all my bitcoin to ethereum because It's better to have both this coin. They have different possibility value in the future and they are both potential coin the top 1 and top 2. If bull run continue both this coin will gong to increase and you may know that you will earn money what ever you have between the two but having both is more profit you will get.

Diversification is really important, we are talking about something much bigger here than just one coin, we are talking about a long term portfolio, if we were to do day trading you could sell btc and get eth and sell eth and get btc and do this many times in a day, but we are not talking about day trading. So, I think everyone should have both btc and eth like you.

In fact you should have btc, eth and 3 or even more coins as well on top of this, that way you will have bare minimum 5 coins, sure you can have bitcoin as the biggest portion but having multiple coins means you could get advantage when bitcoin goes up, you can have an advantage when others go up, basically make a profit no matter what happens as long as there is a bull run on any of them.

I personally have 11 coins now, I want to get rid of one of them so badly but can't since it is very low, but the other 10 I am very happy with.

There is high percentage of growth with ethereum compared to bitcoin right now. Everytime after the bull market of bitcoin there'll be bull run with altcoins. This time we haven't experienced the growth as predicted. Maybe over the falling months there'll be large scale progress with ethereum. With this it is good to hold ethereum, but not go for a selling of bitcoin for ethereum. Keeping hold of the ethereum and changing other available cryptocurrencies to ethereum seems to be a better choice.

If I were you, I would hold a minimum 50% my Bitcoin for the long run and with the rest of the 50%, I will make investments in various altcoins. If we take into account and compare the indicators of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 with those indicators of the cryptocurrency market that exist today, we can see that Ethereum is almost 2 times behind Bitcoin. Altcoin investment is a good choice and not just ethereum, I support putting it into others as well. Obviously you have to be very careful where you are putting your money into, because you may not be able top put your money into something decent and end up putting it on something bad as well, but if you can find a good one, you could have diversification.

Bitcoin + ethereum + 2-3 more altcoins that are strong would mean a great portfolio for everyone. I did exactly this, I do not have too much money in crypto right now, only 2600 dollars, but I have 1200 dollars of it in bitcoin and I have the other 1400 dollars in altcoins, mainly 500 dollars in ethereum and the rest is in some other parts with only 100 dollars in USDT. I will never give up on my bitcoin, they will stay and I will not turn that into altcoin, but I will not have a lot of it neither, I am not going to keep investing into bitcoin anymore, I have my bitcoin and they will stay like that and not get bigger unless I end up with a lot of money.

So, I am not in favor of selling your btc to buy alts but I am in favor of not buying btc more than 50%+ of your portfolio. I would probably get a lot more eth when I find the money for it, but I like investing small amounts like 100 bucks for new projects if I like them too, because they could return a lot bigger.

Never heard any of it nor reads any news that some high net worth individuals are dumping Bitcoin in exchange for Ethereum. It must be the other way around since Bitcoin is in bull run why would someone dump it all of a sudden when in fact they can get more profit in Bitcoin during this bull trend?

I suggest hold/buy Bitcoin because you can choose to hold it for long term or short term depends on what are you going to plan on it or invest in both just to diversify your investment in case it goes sideways. The choice will always depends on you.

I would not do that I prefer to keep both in the bull run, even if Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin in a bull run but the gap is not that huge to become lenient over Bitcoin, every bull run presents a different scenario it might be the scenario in the past but it will not be always the case in every bull run, this year could be different, we never know.

Bitcoin and eth are the most trusted cryptocurrencies of investors for being well-established, existing for years and also dominates the market.
