You can make use of Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source to report any good post you think deserves merit. I have seen many posts reported before and awarded merits to the posts that deserve it. Also I have seen some members that were ranked up before by reporting such good users there but not frequent compared to reporting posts and meriting the post.

If you have a local board, only what you people and not you alone can ask theymos is to give you merit source or more merit source to be able to circulate merit to your quality posts if truly the posts are quality, but if not negative tag will be fine. Or asking theymos to increase merit source generally, you can even apply for merit source.

You can unlock your topic and I will lock this because theymus can not just merit you because you want merit 1:1 smerit, theymos will like the hear other members opinion but with how good merit system is now, I think your idea will not be welcomed.

2:1 is enough and there are merit sources to pass through the half-reduction of sendable merits. The combination between them are enough for the merit system.

The suggested 1:1 ratio is only bad as it will make more sMerit available and the quality (in average) of merited posts will be reduced. In addition, more compromise might be triggered.

And if 1:1 ratio is accepted, all merit sources are unnecessary and need to be removed.

The bull market already catches lot of people, daily new users statistics have new highs after few days. I don't naively say they all come from the bounty hunters but some of them are.

I will make a time-series plot with data from recent days but I am sure the past record in 2017 (monthly new members) was broken recent weeks.

The current ratio helps to maintain the quality of merited posts, unofficially and I'd love to see everything of merit system stay at what they are now.

That means this will only encourage account farming, it will be very easy to farm accounts as the merit system will become valueless if the merit ratio smerit becomes 1:1. theymos can not allow this, it is even what would have been thought about before the merit system began in 2018. It will just be like no merit even needed as the merit system will no more have value.

Lol.  I don't think OP does see the problem with that or the genius in the merit system setup that included merit decay as it's distributed.  If there was a ratio of 1:1, the merit system would be essentially useless.

If something on this forum can be abused, someone's going to figure out a way to abuse it and others will follow.  And with this suggestion, it'd take about a millisecond for account farming to begin again and merit abuse would take just a little less time.  Sorry OP, not gonna happen.

The topic was locked, I created mine quoting him how merit 1:1 smerit system can not work, that he should unlock the thread so that I can lock mine to hear people opinion about it and how he can report any unmerited posts to " Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source" created by LoyceV.


And you can check my second post below about how I commented that it can lead to account farming, I can not bring up this, I can rather bring up merit 4:1 smerit but the current one we are using is working perfectly and we should still stick to it.

Not that it’s going to happen, but @YOSHIE’s petition seems more like a wish to be conceded to him as an exception (the "for me" seems to delimit the scope), and not as a general rule, likely knowing the outcome, but still tossing the idea.

Knowing that such concessions are not going to be made, the runner-up solution would be to postulate to become a Merit Source (and then wait for developments).

I’m pretty sure @YOSHIE is aware that a generalized 1:1 ratio would unleash a ton of merit ping-pong games.

Well, what could go wrong with 1:1 sMerit rate. Even now there is merit abuse at some level, with 1:2 rate. I don't think that making exceptions for certain members is good idea. Personally, I think that current merit system and it's rate is fine and there is no need to change anything.

I don't think that making such exceptions is good idea. Maybe it wouldn't lead to merit abuse, but it would make things more complicated. Why simple not to make such person as merit source?

It will then only harm the progress of this forum, having 1 smerit for 1 merit will make all accounts to be useless, people will not post like good way like this but will post uselessly and depend on merit poor posts of their alt and friends account the forum will be back to square 1.

Its been years since the Merit system started and I thought everything runs smoothly not until I saw this one, well if you want to have more sMerit then apply for a merit source. Merit system change the forum totally, many are trapped on their current rank and many accept the challenge, if there'll be a big change on this system, then I hope it'll be in favor to everyone.

I don't think it will happen ever and the reasons already provided above. Merit ratio 1:1 would encourage merit abuse and merit exchange. Once a time I thought the same thing as OP, but later I realized that would create a few new problems. It wasn't necessary to request 1:1, anyone is free to apply to become a merit source. And personally, I believe YOSHIE is compatible enough to become a merit source. So I will encourage and support him to apply as a merit source.

A 1:1 merit system will be hazardous and be exploited a lot lmfao. Can you imagine the abuse of merits that will take place? Hypothetically, you only would require one merit and then you can rank up 10s or hundreds of your account by giving and sharing merit from that single merit. A 2:1 merit:smerit is good and I don't think it should be changed.

1sMerit for 1 earned merit will nullify the merit system so it is never going to happen.

But if there is some change in the merit system then it should be from the fellow forum members while awarding merits to good posts.Some people take merits as too serious and they just keep doing anything and everything just for the sake of earning it but it should be awarded when someone see a good post.

TBH for a newbie to earn merit the standard becomes lot higher but they are supposed to have lower standard since they are just newbies?
