Gamestop, WallStreetBets scammers

some scammer will create a cryptocurrency or tokens called Gamestop, WallStreetBets or any other fud shit.
Do not believe them or invest in that currency, the price will increase greatly,  it has nothing to do with what happens in r/WallStreetBets or Elon Musk.
it will be other bump and dump shit token.

While I wouldn't be surprised that scammers try to exploit this situation, that's not the case here. As explained by CMC, that's just a joke and will be removed eventually. Afaik they did similar things in the past.

I think it is a dangerous joke. I saw this today too, and I was a bit confused. I was thinking if someone already created a token called wallstreetsbets, and why would CMC be promoting it.

AFAIK they haven't created one... but someone could, and just try to sell to someone for 480 USD, which is a lot of money.

Coinmarketcap is much popular than coingecko afaik and it has also well looking UI. So it's normal people can not change their old habit to check coinmarketcap as price checker. But this joke should not be done by them.

Yesterday/today early ( I can not remind) I visited coinmarketcap and see one name above bitcoin. I was surprised and start to thought how any other token can chase bitcoin. then I notice it has actually no rank means it's a paid promotion by cmc. But now I can realize that it was actually a joke. LOL
Before seeing this I thought maybe there is a coin already created such name. And would be good one.

OP is real pissed off because OP might have bet short on Gamestop, that might be the reason that OP can't take a joke or even fact check it in the first place. I don't find anything worthy for the scammers to use this joken(joke token), maybe the dumbest of them all might fall for someone that says they can make them money investing in that token, we still need to watch our backs because I agree that there is a small possibility that scammers might use it. If everyone finds these offensive, you might as well take off the Internet cause you might just be scratching the surface, a little banter wouldn't hurt anyways.

Perhaps not the best execution but it's an educational joke like Howeycoins and you can't really buy WSB so it's not like there is any harm from it. A good reminder that real scammers would exploit anything. Now why CMC/Binance think like scammers - that's another question

No one was harmed for this jokes. I have seen such jokes before in cmc. However, through these jokes, CMC has promoted WSB well among the crypto community. Maybe in the near future because of these jokes, scammers will get another idea to scam. Because scammers use every trending thing to scam people.

Adding WSB to the top is a kind of subtle mockery of market volatility (with this gesture, CMC emphasized the fact that if ordinary traders unite, they can easily repulse financial institutions). People with WSB don't learn trading techniques, the community just sees trading as a thrill. BTW, GameStop was also discussed on this subreddit and Elon Musk did not miss the opportunity to Tweet about it.

I take it that was your first thought before you read the notice ... and I do not consider this a dangerous joke, it seems to me such a gesture is more like an appeal to people, just like Elon's tweet, (his tweet was a gesture of solidarity, SMS only picked up the idea). And I'm not sorry for those who are stupid enough to fall for this trick after reading the unambiguous notice.

That's not entirely true ... as I said, coinmarketcap just expressed solidarity, (in the sense that almost all traffic came from Musk, not CMC). And in the community WSB one of the main rules is to "no stocks with market caps below $ 1 billion, no crypto" which once again confirms that it was a gesture of solidarity.

It kind of reminds me of Toilet paper Token that was also listed sometime back when Toilet paper became popular due to COVID19 
Personally, I don't think it's a dangerous joke because it's just listed there temporarily with no markets, perhaps they are trying to go with the current trend where  wallstreetsbets and Gamestops have been talked about in the mainstream media for the past few days.

I don't think you can compare these situations, since the joke with Toilet Paper was timed to the first of April, and today's gesture is addressed to financial institutions, and it has a pretty clear context.

Even tho this on CMC is not a scam, but a joke, there have been groups popping up last day or so on TG pretending to be them, and organizing pumps and dumps.
Today they tried pumping TRX, and managed to pump it by whoooping 5%, lol.

After the fail, they created a new group and deleted the old one

faster than CMC could ever take it down. must be a joke only if you just read the whitepaper, there is nothing there that will convince anyone to send coins.
the scammer who has plans already to create WSB for their exploits i guess would be discouraged because of this. can't be for sure still.

I'm sure CMC intends it to be a joke, there will be no coin that will displace BTC on top, its just them informing people about the lastest news in the finance.
