I think like you, not all Altcoins go up a moment and then disappear. currently many Altcoins are starting to rise. I took the example of DOGE, before the price was very small. some time ago DOGE prices skyrocketed hundreds of %. so not all Altcoins become trash.
better to keep Altcoins that enter the top 100 in CMC, that's my suggestion.

I will not say if the top coins are bad but it will give you less chance to make a lot of money from holding it. You must also know that those top coins were also starting from nothing to something.

I would still go for XRP for altcoins to hodl in this market. They sure have made a huge progress on the crypto market recently. Volumes sure have risen rapidly in all exchange. Gotta hodl!!!

You are definitely new to this market. Take a look at all cryptocurrencies and tell me which one has bigger problems than XRP ?! Ripple isn't even a cryptocurrency, it's a centralized coin. In my personal opinion, At current time Polkadot is the best Altcoin to hold as their new events are coming very soon and some major development is ongoing as its mentions on their recent posts on their social accounts. This altcoin is the top 5th coin in the crypto market and has a good trading volume with listed on top major exchanges, So to hold or selling this coin is much easier.

No one can say for sure about it.  However, after analyzing the market data for a long time, some ideas can be found. I would say do some research yourself without relying on the opinions of others. Then you can understand everything yourself. If you want, you can see the list of top altcoins from CoinMarketCap or Coingecko. It can help you a lot.

Of course the altcoins are at the top because they have a real use of technology behind it, you can see some altcoins have been pumping up several times, especially the DeFi token.
Polkado, UNI, TRX, you can choose from one of these even more than that, of course I already have my own choice and do some research on which to hold for real altcoins in the future but for now I am more confident with DOT and UNI, BNB.

At least you learned from what did before in selling your ETH, but it is still not too late to accumulate your earnings in ethereum, then hold in the long term. However, DOT is also has a high potentials to get higher in the future here in cryptocurrency. In fact, I am holding dot as well even a few of them only.
